If it had been me in the exact same circumstance, I'd have drilled him. I suppose you did the right thing if you were not comfortable taking the shot. I believe that if you are questioning it, then it's best not to do it.

This is what I would recommend as well, I have one that I carry while trail running and mountain biking. They are very light but also very capable, it will handle +P loads.

Sorry about your hunt Larry, I actually got your number from Casey Thursday and was going to call you and offer some assistance but got busy at our camp. There were a couple of real nice bucks hang'n out above our camp. My buddy that had the same tag ended up killing one of them.
