Guess the score contest Oct 2008
BELLOTABUCKS replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
116 7/8 no whammy big bucks and STOP!!!! -
really trying for a mount worthy buck this year. not a huge fan of mounts in velvet. just wondering what y'all think. say your sitting on 2 bucks one is hard horned the other still in velvet. now to most i would say if they were equal then the hard horned would be preferred. but say the velvet buck has 10" like 95" over 85" on the hard horned buck what would you do when searching for your wall mount.

A BUDDY AND I DROVE OUT TO A NEIGHBORING RANCH NEAR MERCERS OVER A MONTH AGO AND UNLIKE LAST YEAR GATE WAS LOCKED AT THE GAME AND FISH SIGN IN. IF WHAT IM HEARING ABOUT THE GUIDE SERVICE IS TRUE THEN IT LOOKS LIKE IM HOPPING FENCES AND HIKING AN EXTRA 2 MILES. AND AFTER I SCORE MY BUCK THE GUIDE IS GONNA HEAR THE REST OF MY SHELLS ECHOING UP THE CANYONS AND ABOUT 100 .40 CALS TOO! IF THEY WANNA RUIN HARD WORKING DO IT UR SELFERS HUNTS THEN I CAN HOPEFULLY HURT THEIR BUSINESS . EVER SINCE THE RESULTS CAME OUT IVE BEEN LOSING SLEEP OVER THE BUCKS I SAW IN THIS SPOT LAST YEAR. LOOKS LIKE TOO MANY OF US ARE CAPABLE OF FINDING OUR OWN BUCKS AND A DESPERATE GUIDE DOESNT CARE ABOUT SPORTSMEN. THIS DISREGARD FOR OUR LOVE OF THE SPORT BY A OVER ZEALOUS IDIOT HAS ME SAYING SCREW IT. I DONT SEE ANY FENCES THEN. HIS SLICK S**T WONT WORK

born in casa grande 1981 moved to tucson in 86. my dads family lives in san manuel so i grew up huntin pigs, deer and quail in 33. used to take pigs out of what is now oracle state park like clockwork and back when mule deer still existed we would switch everyother year mulie, coues, muley, coues. but since about age 12 its been whitetail or bust. my dad, uncle, and grandpa even took duane adams on some of his first hunts( of course they dont take any credit for his success seeing how he turned into quite the hunter but this was their highschool days). then one day i tripped on the san pedro trickle and stood up in a whole new world........32! oh and us desert boys made our selves at home in the woods many years ago too taking 10 bulls outa 27 and 7e over the years.

Unit 33 Hunt pressure
BELLOTABUCKS replied to Diamondbackaz's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
my family is from san manuel, about an hour in four wheel drive from the heart of the best 33 has to offer and have taken bucks from there for 25-30 years. i my self have hunted it religiously for 15 years. sad to say we used to be one of three or four pickups on the hill and now guide camps dot the road all the way up. public land and public access and all but our backyard became lalapalooza so now we apply for other units more so than in the past. your almost better off getting dropped off at the san pedro lookout on mt lemmon and hunting down. for those who say there are no deer in 33 next time get out of the truck as you drive through. at the same time don't be surprised to either hear viet nam up the canyons or to have your buck shot out from under your crosshairs. bums me out. for all the hardcore 32 hunters out there, i hear ya. passed on many bucks lookin for the one partly because i had a freezer full of elk meat still or i might of dropped one of the 85-90 inch bucks i threw back. fall app goes like this 32 nov, 33nov, 31nov, 32oct, 33oct. -
Well what did you get drawn for?
BELLOTABUCKS replied to silenthunter686's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
7 east rifle. been drawing this tag every other year like clockwork since 2000. between my dad, cousin, and my self 6 bulls met thier maker. still waiting on my 27 early rifle to come through for me they are bigger there! -
I LIVE AND WORK IN TUCSON AND MY JOB HAS RECENTLY TAKEN ME TO THE FAR EASTSIDE EVEN OUT AS FAR AS BENSON. UNTIL LAST YEAR I WAS A LIFE LONG 33 HUNTER BUT AFTER SEEING BUCK ONTOP OF BUCK IN 32 I AM NOW TORN BETWEEN THE TWO. ANYWAY, 33 HAS TWO MOUNTAIN RANGES IN IT, SANTA CATALINAS AND RINCONS. BEING ON THE EASTSIDE ALOT I LOOK UP AT THE RINCONS AND IT LOOKS AS GOOD AS ANY COUES COUNTRY I'VE SEEN. LOOKING AT MAPS THOUGH THE MAJORITY OF THE LAND IS SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK EAST AND OFF LIMITS TO HUNTERS. THE AREA IS HUGE! EVEN AT 6,7,8,AND 9000 FEET IT'S CONSIDERD " SAGAUARO PARK " EVEN THOUGH THA dang CACTUS IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. I FEEL JIPPED AND RIPPED OFF. YEAH THERE IS A PORTION FACING I-10 NEAR MESCAL RD THATS OPEN BUT TANQUE VERDE RIDGE EVEN MORE TOWARDS REDDINGTON LOOKS AMAZING AND I'VE SEEN BIG BUCKS HEADING THAT WAY! I THINK HUNTERS HAVE BEEN SOLD SHORT. THOUGHTS PLEASE.

COUES WHERE YOU CAN'T HUNT 'EM
BELLOTABUCKS replied to BELLOTABUCKS's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I dont even bother, as you cant keep em. saw 12 bucks in 3 days in 32. one was a beast and tought i had all the time in the world 300 yds away when a cat jumped a spike on the same hill i was on and started a landslide which sent my trophy into ludacris speed into the next county before i could blink. 32 won my upmost respect but my heart still lies in 33 -
i own the heavy barrel marlin model they sale at walmart and i love it, the hmr that is. killed a yote at a hundred and twenty yards with one shot and he dropped stone dead. you can hunt javelina with a 22 mag and i believe a 17 hmr can do the trick

looks like 5bn to me. my cousin missed a bull there ten years ago and i still occasionally ask him if he curses the gods. sure am glad i don't have to live with that miss. any how good lord man awesome bull. straight shooters don't have to search for blood trails by flashlight until midnight!!!!maybe some day my raghorn curse will be lifted until then thanks to all the fortunate ones for the motivation!

I heard the tortolita mountains had more to offer than most think. I have now seen coues deer on both ends of the range. i saw a spike in the hills surrounding cochie canyon on the west end and a group of does out rail x ranch road near catalina. 37b has an any antler tag but 37a is mule only. Does anyone know if there is a healthy population, healthy enough for an any antlered tag? a buddy also swears up and down he saw 2 bighorn ewes near cochie??????
-
was in alpine july 18th through 21st, saw 19 deer 12 of them bucks. only 2 or 3 worth writing home about but was shocked. also saw about 20 gobblers they looked huge! also saw three of the best bulls i have ever seen in a farm area south of the road between luna lake and town, my god! heart stoppers. drew a fall gobbler tag for 27 this fall. haven't decided on high or low. the unit appears healthy as ever!

Alot of us guy's on this form are jokesters so don't take it to hard. We bash everyone just the same - newbie or veteran. There is always a wealth of knowledge on this site so don't give up on CW.com just yet. You definately need to hang around long enough to participate in one of the outdoor writers (Tony) "who said this quiz" For Sure, Dude..... gunna have git that chip off your shoulder. You are good enough, I'm sure, but we don't just role over and dump our guts on the ground for a newbie that starts his first post wanting some free info, via e-scouting.... Might want to be part of the coversations here, make some friends, and show your style...... before ya start diggin'. Hang around you'll see. sorry guys for seeming edgy, i would never e scout i'm definately hands on. i'm a repo man and work load does'nt allow me very much free time so when i get a chance to scout only trying to make sure i'm heading to a spot i would hunt if i was familiar with the area. so far some guys have been great help and it's much appreciated. the other day i got a pistol shoved in my face on a repo and had to call the cops, while i was waiting i jumped on the laptop and straight to cw.com to see if any new pics posted! come on november!!!!!!!!!

funny how these anti's beliefs turn them into cowards and crooks.

wow, lookslike all these proffesionals are full of advice. not much of it having much to do with my question i'm starting to feel not good enough for yall. who doesn't already know you can kill a deer near bellota. years ago my uncle worked for the ranch and saw my first two bucks ever together near the other ranch house by piety hill which is not part of bellota any more hence bellota bucks the reason i live to hunt coues. my profile says newbie but i'm only new to the forum
