unit 33 buck early 1980's

im driving out from home about 2 am i'll be in the area. white 08 frontier.

my family is from san manuel and my dad and uncle used to see turkey in the river bottom every couple years in the 70's and 80's and i've seen tracks. as far as up higher in the gali's, dont know. maybe in the winchesters or texas canyon?

i too have the thanksgiving hunt in 36a, had to choose a leftover. as if i wasn't already halfway out the door!

just wanted to know some thoughts on hunt selection. not so much in unit selection but more about the time of fall. down south the october hunt can give you days that are well into the 90's but this year with the jr hunt being pushed back you have first crack. and now that there are 2 november hunts which one suits you more and why? can the late november early december hunt catch any part of a pre rut jump in activity? we all would love to have the last 2 weeks of the year to glass up all the doe crazy bucks but odds are heavily against you. so why did you put in for the hunt(s) you did.

due to the birth of my son i wasnt able to get in the draw and ended up with a late november 36a leftover. by no means am i asking for honey holes just want to know if you guys see any bucks on the south end of sierrita mnts. drove in yesterday and found a nice area and saw 3 does from the truck but really have no time to scout.

i was in the area on saturday. came in off of sasabee on ryan ranch and took it to amado. didnt get out of the truck much but seemed like the higher up i got the more clothes and water bottles i found.

while glassing in 35b i saw a doe and her fawn walking in a wash. they came up to what looked like a peice of broken pumpkin and mama was liking it a lot and everytime the fawn tried to get in on it mama would kick the fawn in the face and she was swinging for the fences. saw her strike the fawn 5 or 6 times. also saw a couple doing the deed near oracle ridge from 5 hills away i think they were copying the kama sutra it went on a while. i also watched a wolf near alpine traverse 200 yards feeding on mice right to my blind i could smell him it was really cool.

so i'm taking a good friend out this weekend. he is from mizzou and hasn't hunted our wiley species yet. he borrowed a .243 but said wal mart only had 100 gr bullets. i have never shot anything less than an odd six in a 150 gr. is his round gonna be sufficient? if so out to what range?

only thing ive ever left was a wet stone and the previous nights supper!

well he missed the rifle was jed clampet special but scope was old and done wouldnt move from 1 inch low and 3 inches left at 25 yds so i tried t explain compensating to him and his last shot was almost there but it sent the buck into ludacris speed. he is buying one now so if we can draw again next year we'll hopefully fair better thanx for all of ur input guys

looks like tommy hendricksons the southern of the two hendricksons. if so yeah great ish but no bucks. saw a nice 3x4 w gnarly left drop tine and 4 other shooters up range a bit and heard of several good bucks coming outa coppercreek. so now theres no deer in 32? i thought everyone was into bashing 33?

put my buddy on his first buck ever 3 point on one side and broken off after g2 on other. 32 had bucks. every other group besides one came out heads down cursing no bucks but we stalked a good one first light opening day but other hunters had a jump and about 3/4 of the way up the hill to our selected shooting spot we heard three shots and they all missed so we hiked further back where i shot at a 95 inch 3x3 at 400 yds and unfortunately experienced my first ever wounded w no recovery, then the buddy called with his downed buck and hiked over to show him how to gut it so by the time we got back after an 8 hour drag and carry our legs were too shot to hunt again and left sunday mid day. next year i'll be in better shape for sure. but my buddy is my closest friend of 20 years and he found his buck on his own downed him and can forget about the 3 missed shots earlier( not the 3 shots that spooked my first buck). buck on top of buck in 32 jus gotta have the legs and courage to leave ur 4 wheelers

THE SAUSAGE SHOP ON PRINCE NEAR FAIRVIEW WILL CUT AND MY BUDDY SAID THEY DO WELL BRAGGED PARTICULARLY ON THE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE. HEARD THE PRICES ONCE BUT CANT REMEMBER BUT I DO RECALL THINKING IT WAS FAIR. I BUY STEAKS AND BACON FROM THEM AND STOP IN FOR A HOAGIE ONCE IN A WHILE AND THEY HAVE A GREAT OPERATION. THE BOSS IS PISSED MY WIFE IS PISSED BUT MY butt CAN BE KISSED. ITS HERE ITS HERE ITS FINALLY HERE WELL ALMOST 4 MORE DAYS TILL I ARRIVE IN CAMP FOR OCT 32.

USAULLY HAVE A PARTNER AND WE PLATOON. AT 10 THE FIRST GUY GETS AN HOUR OR SO IN THEN SWITCH SO WE CAN ALWAYS KEEP EYES ON THE HILLS. GOIN BACK TO CAMP NEVER REALLY CROSSED MY MIND THERE ARENT ANY DEER IN CAMP. TAKE ENOUGH WATER TO GET IN AND OUT AND A FEW HIGH PROTIEN AND HIGH CALORIE SNACKS AND STAY WHERE THEY ARE. USUALLY HAVE A PRE MADE BREAKFAST AND REWARD OURSELVES WITH A FULL MEAL AT NIGHT. WITHIN A WEEK OF THE HUNT NOW AND NOT SLEEPIN WELL AND IT KINDA SERVES AS A WARM UP TO THE LACK THERE OF DURING THE HUNT. THIS IS ONE OF THE LONGEST WEEKS OF THE YEAR NEXT TO THE WEEK BEFORE RIFLE BULL. FROM BIRTH TO 12 CHRISTMAS WAS THE COUNTDOWN THAT CAUSED LOST SLEEP AND FROM 12 ON ITS THE HUNTS. NOTHING LIKE LEAVING THE TRUCK BEFORE SUN UP OPENING MORNING.
