    dad not letting me hunt

as a parent i have to tell you, with how bad you want this your father has to stick to his guns. breaking on this issue causes serious boundary problems, holding firm, well that causes you to get the good grades. young men have a serious tendancy to lose focus so it's not speaking against you, but if you can grasp that then overcome it and keep your eye on the prize all year long, thats speaks to the character your father is trying to get out of you. make your old man proud! school lasts for such a short while yet you can hunt until your an old man. if you miss deer season get your grades up and go after some quail and predators.

    32 success

[a ttachment=27619:1022101803a_1_.JPG]Life has become very hectic the older i get and i dont get to spend as much time with old friends as i would like. This was my best buddy mike's 3rd time hunting coues, he scored a 2 point out of 32 two years ago. We both had sons last year and have new families and don't get to hang all that much anymore so spending some time with him doing what i love most was short but sweet. we started walking an hour before sunrise and got pretty high up as the horizon began to light up. at 730 we had 4 bucks glassed up and stalked to 350 yards. there was a really unique tall and narrow 3x3, a similar 2x2, a 3x2, and a spike. we each chose which buck we wished to take and it was on. i fired at the tall narrow 3x3 as he fired at the similar 2x2. and we both missed. my 3x3 hit ludacris speed straight up and over while his 2x2 headed down hill. as the top of the hill dropped to meet the bucks escape route he fired a shot on the run and while we didn't see anything that would indicate a hit, the sound was all too familiar. I then noticed the 3x2 was standing in the same spot dumbfounded. I fired making a good hit, he dropped after a couple of yards. my buddy went on to the top of the hill to where his buck was when he fired and couldn't even pick up on his trail and saw no blood. so he searched the two barrel cactus the buck ran between to see if he hit one of them to make the impact sound and found nothing. he searched for 2 hours at the top of the hill for sign of his buck. just before giving up he decided to drop down to the next creek bottom to see if he would find him. about 3/4 of the way down he heard him bust through the brush and saw him running up the opposite hill. a well placed heart shot dropped him where he stood. we both only had 2 days to hunt and were more than happy to take these bucks. now here is the funny part. he has been so busy with 2 jobs and family and also is one of the worlds best procrastinators he ended up getting off work late thursday but still needed to sight in so at sunset he sighted in in his headlights at 30 yards. i asked if he got to sight in and he said " i blew up a soda can at 30 yards". i said why didnt you shoot any further and he told me sun was going down and had to use his headlights. i was almost reluctant to let him shoot his rifle as to not mangle a buck and not make a humane kill. he hit that buck on a dead run at 450 yards! while he did shoot him through the left hind leg and did have to search a while. he stuck with it and found his buck and made a good heart shot to end it. i know its is illegal to shoot after dark but if doing so will let me hit a buck on the run at 450 yards then hmmmm, just kidding.

Bellota, you can do whatever you want - but the PM tool has been almost exclusively used for instances like your willingness to advise on locations. No one is criticizing your willingness to help others be successful - we are all for it. But you obviously are not paying attention to how many e-scouters come on here looking for tips because they don't want to do the work. Look at the bottom of the screen and you can see from time to time that there are guests who are reading this post who are not registered and they are just skimming for tips on where to go. Amanda could probably give us some stats on how many skimmers come onto the forum. If they don't take the time to scout - they probably don't take the time to know the rules - they probably don't take the time to be courteous to other hunters - they probably don't take the time to practice shooting and they are probably not the kind or type of hunter I want slinging bullets in my area. That said...it is a free country. This topic has been viewed over 2000 times (one can see the number "views" from the main Rifle Hunting Screen". Maybe all 475 tag holders have viewed this topic....with the access issues in 32....maybe all will stop by and say hey to Bellota! 2000 views because of all the sobbing. piety is a tiny hill 10 minutes to climb it, it has a 3 lane freeway at the foot. if e scouters saw that they would say i have drove past that hill and not thought twice but when the sobbing started then ....well 2000 views. then you got premier members starting newbie pofiles to chime in and raise a fuss anonymously... i think its hilarious. lots of land in hendricksons too, no matter how many are there i still have confidence in my abilities to get way the heck out and up, stick the binos to my face, find these deer and make a good stalk/shot. i promise to use the im from now on guys n gals didnt mean to piss in ur cherios

180+ Coues Sheds --- You better sit down before you look!

i think you're right. was wondering if so the sheds in the epperson/ellsworth collection has to be at least a 3 year old deer, now 2 or 3 more years have gone bye. at what point will the buck regress with old age?

    37a hunting

i hunted off of 79 between oracle junction and the power station in feb for javalina. the spring under my retract button on my bipod was coming loose and all i had was my knife to fix it or loose it forever after a dont do it you'll cut your self i attempted it anyway. i cut the tip of my finger off. i cut my shirt and wrapped it up and was walking to the truck when i jumped a huge 4x4. i had a camcorder and attempted to follow him but could not get a pic. didnt know mulies like that still ran around had to be 34 inches wide very tall and symetricall. gorgeous buck had me wandering away from my truck loosing blood just to get another glimpse

    Indian Ruins

i too dont have any pics but ten years ago i hunted unit 21 near bloody basin. there were plenty of rock drawings even had a ringtail clear as day. also topped out over a hill and the whole other side was an enormous village with many rooms im guessing 30 plus lots of pottery and obsidian. kinda put hunting aside for an hour or so to poke around. very neat, very fond memory.
