the boone and crocket website has a how to page and it breaks down the process very well,, just need a 1/4 inch thick flexable steel tape measure, give it a go and share it with us.

i guess its your own preference, this weekend in 32 i saw more quads just driving around. i hiked a tall mountain and saw a side by side with 2 hunters in the seat and 1 standing in back followed by a quad. could hear them at a thousand yards talking at 7 am! then they drove around talking over the sound of thier engines. to avoid these fiascos i say hike. hike early try to walk at least an hour and a half before first light and get away from the roads. -
i imagine there have been and will be hundreds of animals in a tree this and each season. helps all the blood run out. dont suppose the offended would have it in thier tents with them or in thier hotel rooms? seriously people don't you cape your own animals?

was on azgfd today and i recognized a fellow that is on the elk hunting with the san carlos apaches dvd, dan agnew. he shot the bull with the longest main beams ever on that dvd and has a 416" bull this year. must be nice to take part on the res so often, what a bull. congrats to him and another stud bull!

That's cool! Love to see a picture. By your handle I assume you hunt Bellota Ranch area in unit 33. We used to hunt there. Missed a 100+ buck one year. It got pretty crowded with other hunters, so we moved on. Brad grew up out there, good area for sure with big bucks. check out azgfd to see that bull

took a trip to some family property near vernon this weekend. in the meadows south of show low still on the res i spotted a bunch of cows and calfs and knew a bull would be with them so i turned around. the car is packed and i was trying to locate my camcorder when i spotted the bull. nice 6x7 i'm guessing 340. the cows spook and he starts rounding the cows staying behind. i whistle trying to sound like a bugle and of course no effect this bull was fleeing and the camera was out of reach. i tell my wife to cow call and see if he will stop. she rolled her window down the rest of the way, stuck her head out the window and from the bottom of her gut she yelled MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! she hunts deer with me and has to watch all the hunting shows i do i figured she would know but guess not. she will now be accompanying me in november to 7e to further educate her on bulls and cows that don't go moo!

While working in Nogales today i saw what appeared to be an opposum dead in the road in mid town, weasel face pink hairless tail, dark overcoat with blond underneath. I tried to find out about the opposum inhabiting Az but most info was on some virgina opposums being released in tucson a long time ago and eventually were trapped off. Anyone out there know about this animal being in our state, i know there are many many subspecies and they are in mexico and central and south america but I have spent countless hours in our back country and have never seen or heard of a resident opposum here in Arizona, Who can help?

I caught this toad march 4th at San Carlos using a 5' ultra light with 4 pound test using a night crawler from the shore near San Carlos point. I first contacted some local taxi's for some prices none seemed too enthused to do a fish and informed me they are fiber glass re-creations and only 1 side was painted. I wanted my mount to be as life like as possible. After searching the web i settled on American Fish Taxidermy out of Cookeville, Tn. Most replicas i found on the web the mouths were just white fiber glass and hollow. These guys use full gill and mouth inserts and while they do give you the option of sending a frozen fish, i decided the fiber glass re-creation were the best around and would exceed expectations and boy did it. The bass measured 22" long, 17" around, and weighed in at 6.75 lbs. I would definately recommend American Fish Taxidermy and their 60 day gaurantee!

LOOKS GREAT! I'M HOOKED NOW TOO. THAT WAS THE ONLY SKULL I HAD BUT MY DAD HAS SOME OLD HEADS INCLUDING A HUGE PALMATED BULL, WE MIGHT TRY DOIN THE ELK SOON, GONNA NEED SOME PUTTY ON THE BULL TOO HAS SOME MOUSE NIBBLE ON HIM.
-
i have a skull and rack and it is in great shape, not a single mouse nibble. was thinking it would be cool to stain the rack to give it a european look instead of all white. will any old stain work like a wal-mart brand or one from ace? any tips on how to make it look authentic or natural? or will applying it w a brush do the trick?
-
thanx bill i will try that
-
i think it came out alright a little too solid. i might try a white crayon or rubbing it with wax. tips are white but very small. i put in a pic next to a buck from a few years back to show the difference but i will definately stain any skull i find going forward. i think he looks cool on my bull just may leave him there ][attach ment=29898:0114112146a_1_.jpg]
