Unit 3A/4B Zeniff / Dry Lake population management hunt
Newbie2012 replied to goat73's topic in Elk Hunting
The west edges of those circled areas west of 377 and north of the forest boundary are filled with those 40 acre ranchettes. Checkerboard State Trust land and private property. Ran into no trespassing/hunting signs helping a friend on an antelope hunt there a couple years ago. So, just a heads up. -
Not to pick on you, but it happened at the same time. The only thing they didn’t know was how many tags to NR’s. Read the last paragraph in the first press release from July 29, 2022. https://www.azgfd.com/archery-deer-hunters-azgfd-makes-changes-to-over-the-counter-nonpermit-tag-opportunity/

My guess is 3 years.

There was no quota prior to August 2022, so there’s no data to support the “filling up quotas before resident hunters can get out” argument because we didn’t have a quota system to even know if NR’s were “too successful”. Me thinks the AZGFD “person” was telling you what you wanted to hear to get you off the phone.

Yeah, I get that. Unfortunately, the Commission is limited to what the rules/statue allows them based on the violation. The “possession” violations are “up to 5 years” suspensions. The “take” violations are what gives them the 5,10 year and lifetime bans. Just depends on actual convictions. If the max is “up to 5 years”, that’s about all they can impose. They can’t just arbitrarily throw down a lifetime ban, even though I’m sure they want to. So I guess giving them the max 5 years is “coming down hard”, compared to someone getting a 1 or 2 year suspension for the same violation. But I get what you’re saying. It’s not enough, but legally, they’re limited.

Duane Adams, 5 year suspension Steven Ward, 5 year suspension Brian Fisher, lifetime ban Regardless if they’re giving G&F the middle finger is of no concern to me. Once a poacher, always a poacher. At least it’s on record they have a 5 year or lifetime ban.

Incredible hunt! Congrats!

Tough crowd in here.

Wonder if this will go before the ArizonaG&F Commision or the Utah Commission? Or both? Our Commission has been coming down hard on Guides lately, so it'll be interesting to see if a lifetime ban comes to fruition.

Try ammoseek.com I find some “reasonably” priced ammo from time to time.

Yup, the link is right under the link for leftovers.

Yes. We need some serious election reform. There’s no reason it should take this long. Seems like a lifetime ago, but remember when all the counting in the entire US was done Election night? Even Hawaii!

Accorrding to Lake's latest statement, that 13000 dump yesterday came from Pima Co. 384K left to count from Maricopa, which the majority are hand delivered ballots. Those tend to lean towards Lake. This should have been over 2 days ago. Embarrassing!

Has anyone found a good way to see the units still open without having to constantly scroll left/right, up/down. The format sucks on mobile devices. At the very least, they should add another column with the GMU close to the open/closed status.

Not really. Considering the millions of dollars pumping into the Department, maybe something other than WordPress 2005! 😀

Yup. Most of us have our phones with us now. We aren’t hauling around a laptop all day.
