I went with the Gen 2, 12’s for the same reason of having 1 set to carry. They are great free hand or on the tripod. The only obvious difference of course with the magnification is that at the farther distance, you might not see the cheater on a good buck. Otherwise it’s a win/win against the 14’s for me. You’ll know if it’s a good buck or an average buck very quickly. They will absolutely turn up deer in most conditions that the 14’s will. These things aren’t the 12’s your Dad had 😄

Early 80’s, model 94. I say it’s 9/10 cosmetically, 10/10 function wise. Grandsons won’t shoot it. My dad bought it new and it just stays in the safe. Prices are all over the place on the internet and honestly I don’t sell enough firearms to be good at it. Would like to get 700$. East Mesa. Can meet at Sportsman’s. Not able to upload pics. I am also looking at getting one this year in 6.5 or 7mm-08. I’ve shot .264 win mag for 40 plus years and looking to try something different. A friend bought one a couple years ago and he likes everything about it.

I did just about this same exact meal plan on the mountain last month. Also did mountain house meals at night back at camp. After 3 days I felt the sodium content catch up with me (I think), and I felt awful. To much for me apparently. By day 4, I switched to grilled chicken for dinner, oatmeal with coffee for lunch and scrambled eggs breakfast. First time I remember diet affecting how I felt.
