On a side note......i hunted a 3 legged buck in 20b back a few years ago. Saw him multiple times over 2 years and a buddy was on him the year before that. Three legs didnt slow him down one bit. would have been nice to pack out in thirds though
-
Last year i only hunted over him in late nov-early jan, that pretty much solved the issue then.

I have...and still am but will unlikely get an opportunity before opener. I may opt for that and just not take him out because of it very early in the season. Im pretty confident that a gopher will help with at least sight and sound recognition maybe not so much with scent, not sure how much that differs. I will get to the avoidance training, but have talked to a few folks who have done this and it worked well. I have plenty of snakes but they are more the size that will not intimidate or even strike or get aggressive. Very familiar around snakes including rattlesnakes but im not near enough so to milk and defang a rattlesnake and feel ok about the training.

MISSOULA, Mont. - A middle school teacher suffered some bruising and a big scratch on his back after he struck a bear while riding his bicycle to school. Jim Litz said he was traveling about 25 mph Monday morning when he came upon a rise and spotted a black bear about 10 feet in front of him. He didn't have time to stop and T-boned the bruin. He tumbled over the handlebars, his helmet hit the bear's back and the two went cartwheeling down the road. The bear rolled over Litz's head, cracking his helmet, and scratched his back before scampering up a hill above the road. Litz's wife drove by shortly after the crash and took her husband to the hospital. He hoped to be able to return to teaching science at Target Range Middle School on Friday. ___

SSS. Yall know what that is! I hate em all!!! they deserve what they dish out, for that matter lump em in with the ones that go dove hunting/shooting and leave tons of boxes of cases and shells and their containers. Raise the penalties, open season, hang em high but do somthin!!! That is ridiculous! Ill tell you when i hear shots at night i investigate....always. -
the easy access points i.e. mt.ord road and deer creek and barnhart tend to be FULL of people, lot of road cruisers, folks glassin from the road and camped in every available spot. some of the rougher more hikin involved areas in between main roads tend to be pretty productive.

Dont get discouraged, i first started chasin the ghosts when i was way young and knew nothin about them. i was actually lookin for muleys....i have not gone after muleys since. Nor have i bagged one with a bow. but they run through my head everyday all day and i cant get enough of em. I chase em and come home empty handed at least once a week when the hunt is on and enjoy every second of it. and Ive tried sittin Its JUST AS HARD!!! i cant do it, every twig crackin shoots my adrenaline up. Back out tommorrow well see how many times i get busted. Good luck. and follow those steps one day it will work.

i for one spend most of what i do in cash. You would honestly be surprised with how fast your change can add up if you tuck it away. Ill add up anywhere from 20-50 bucks a week just in change. I remember cleanin out a house for a family when the owner passed away and most everything they were givin away so basically if there was one thing ya wanted they would pretty much give it to ya, i just said all the change i find laying around......my buddys had older cameras and some othery stuff, i ended up with 850 bucks in change.....lotta time at coinstar machine

have a pic rail mounted on it and do a high eye relief low power scope such as this. Scout gun style and the only way to go if your gonna put glass on a lever gun.

Sarah Palin
coueschaser3 replied to coueschaser3's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I personally think this is going to get alot of votes from hard core conservative folks who were thinking about not voting, or throwing it away on a non hopeful. He definately seems to have balanced out his leaning way toward center. -
over 20 trees down within a block of me, a sixty foot eucalyptus took down my neighbors fence and is in their back yard and a 30 footer is on my roof it was a heck of a storm, supposedly winds up to 100 miles an hours. only thing comparable ive been in is a micro burst and a few tornados but nothin that lasted like that!

Where to buy Matthews Switchback XT???
coueschaser3 replied to mattobertin's topic in Optics and tripods
I work at a store with a archery department, i still buy and take all my stuff to Archery HQ. The guys there are Friendly and really know their stuff. Not to mention all they do is hunt and are usually up for helpin anyone with questions. I was just in recently and they didnt have the camo i wanted nor did anywhere else and George gladly special ordered a set for me and called as soon as it came in. Great customer service and You can be sure that your set up or work gets done properly the first time. Wont take my stuff anywhere else. -
I have been thinking about this recently due to me and a buddy of mine planning on sitting the same blink this weekend. I have alot of bucks coming in continuously but wondered if one of us gets one will the remains/smell spook other deer out of the area? How far should the animal be moved to prevent that if it will. problem is its in the bottom of a nasty little canyon and im tring to figure out if 50yds will do it or just totally out of that canyon. Or if it will bug em at all. any ideas or input?

What is your opinion on the 10mm
coueschaser3 replied to Mangum's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
10mm is a great round and fun to shoot, just a 40 on crack though. in arizona it wont be a problem, heck here a 9mm really would not be a problem. Id take a 45 in most circumstances though. Do yourself a favor and look into a good 1911 in 10mm rather than a glock..... i mean quality should have some play in the decision. Honestly i feel safe anywhere i been with a ruger 22 not a whole lot to worry bout other than other folks and a 22 can make a mess. -
Looks like if it happens by some chance it shouldnt be a big problem, not many dogs where its at....but bears are around. wouldnt even be able to shoot a bear on a gut pile though cuz im huntin over some Deer caine.....i beleive that would fall under baiting for the deer cane part. crappy.
-
Thanks for the input. Well see how it goes.

the idea is to make it look like a camera is in a security box, but is not. just rigged to go off when its opened. simple and cheap. also for the test im gonna camo my cam on video mode way up in a tree just to see it work. Im not going to put them on my spots just places a ways back that might work.........say any random water hole. Once the word spreads, them folks gonna think twice before opening any camera box. or camera.
-
That was my first idea, but do you think they are actually gonna leave the camera/ at least intact/ after that happens. Another problem is most effective pepper spray comes out in a stream not mist. I have perfected the idea only cheaper....i just have to finish it. couple random dummy boxes and unsuspection theives and the word will get out. Also posting on the box, CAUTION DO NOT OPEN!
-
Im not sure on the legalities of it but honestly i dont care anymore im sick of hearing about people gettin their crap stolen. I will attempt to get a video of it in work....should be great...hilarious actually to say the least. They wanna play dirty ill play dirty back
-
when my "theft deterrant" box is done, it WILL make the woods alot safer for trail cams. I promise, not only mine but if the word gets out they WILL think twice before checking another one. Soon to be finished.
-
So far my method has worked well for me....knock on wood.... i decided where i want it and make sure its so nasty that i never want to go get it, hike down until it seems im not gonna ever make it back out, and then place it. typically i can glass these areas from afar and would hunt them assuming they are gettin good photos, or i am seeing good deer. Mine now is in a heck hole so bad i was 2 miles away the other day and decided against checking it. also working on a deterant fake box that will make folks everywhere think twice before opening a lock box
