How much longer.... THE POLL!
coueschaser3 replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
SBD, Awesome idea........thanks for settin the poll up now i can distract my mind. -
no it did change, it still states that they conduct three draws a year but when you enter your info instead of giving spring results it says draw results are not available. you aint hearin stuff. i noticed that too. changed a few days ago te but changed back after a few hours.
-
In addition to having a big/small/archery/gun coues contest every year, there should be a "when do draw results come out" contest. Keep everyone occupied till they come out. Guess by time and date. Closest takes all, of course we could always have a farthest off winner to.

ahh i cant stand this! ive got the same feeling i get waitin before sunrise sittin over a canyon i know is holding my buck and the sun just cant hurry the heck up, but i cant do nothin about it!..................but then again when that sun come up and i cant find em......probably is gonna resemble the draw.
-
That must be it......thank the draw gods!!!! i didnt apply for spring but got a leftover so that makes a whole lot more sense. but on the bright side the voicemail changing could be signs of progression...i hope. what a relief.

Cabelas, I Have no question, I hope this email is obtained by the correct person in your corporate office. I am a Avid hunter and fisherman in the state of Arizona. I shop frequently at your store and am afraid that if your threats to the Arizona Game and Fish department about delaying our draw and attepts to take legal action on extending our draw DEADLINE are not ceased I promise I will not ever again set foot in your store, nor open one of your catalogs. Even the thought of this is a disgrace to a store I thought stood for what is right and fair. In my state it is a priviledge to draw any tag let alone Elk or Pronghorn Antelope. These tags are coveted by many, whom take the draw process seriously and are responsible enough to get their applications in on their own. I do not feel that because cabelas or UPS dropped the ball you should cause so many of of your customers in this state to be subject to your beliefs. It is quite childish to Whine and complain that your apps were only two hours late, and what professional company waits till the last day to get the apps to AZGFD. I feel sorry for the 600 you represent, yet rules are rules and those who take the draw more seriously did get their apps in on time. I promise I will let this be known to everyone I know or come in contact with who shops or may shop at your store. I will use your Flyers in the mail and offers in the mail as kindling at my campfire when I do draw a Tag, because I was responsible enough to get my application to the CORRECT address as so plainly stated in the regulations. Unfortunately for you I am very active In the hunting and fishing community along with others that will affect your store. Quite Sincerely, Ex-Customer My email.

Big money stores such as Cabelas are or claim to be based on customer service. And as far as i know most of us on this site and others are customers. i would encourage everyone to email their corporate office with complaints and reasons why you feel their actions on filing a law suit or freezing the draw are childish and unnacceptable, for whatever reason you feel it is. IMO a deadline is a DEADLINE! Im personally sending them a email just after i finish this. With enough "customer" input and talk of boycott from a large majority that will be upset to say the least, it may sway an opinion. We can complain all we want but those of us whom decide to take action and stand up for ourselves are the ones who may keep things right and fair. I encourage you and anyone you know who is concerned about this to email a complaint to cabelas and pass it on to every hunter you know to do the same.

Thanks for the correction. I got a few pretty nasty pics of my buddies diamond back bite from a few years ago. ill see if i can dig it up, it will give some out there enough reason not to get within striking distance....BTW, the finger no longer exists. Crotalus, whats your background on Herps?

The black rattlesnakes you are seeing are, Arizona Black Rattlesnakes....go figure right.... they tend to reside at higher elevations and you will find them consistantly in the Sierra Anchas, Four peaks to Matazal range, anywhere over 4000 ft elevation...coincidentaly coues country. They tend to be smaller snakes, in my experience running about 2-3 ft for adults. as for the smaller snakes being more dangerous, there is venom consistency issue, also when a snake grows in size and age it learns not to dose something with its full capacity of venom. by doing this the snake is giving up eating for a period of time. Smaller/younger snakes tend to not have the experience of going with out food for extended periods and are more likely to push everything theyve got. Many unexpected bites are "dry" bites due to the snake being as surprised as you. But if your screwin with em dont count on it. Keep in mind many species around the state are smaller at an adult age also, sidewinders, massassuga and others. One more issue. The majority of adult rattlesnakes venom consists of a Hemotoxin which destroys musle tissue, hence time is tissue, but Mohave's have a high concentration of Neurotoxin in there venom and Southern pacifics have a unique blend of hemotoxin and neurotoxin. Key is know your snakes, dont bug them and they wont bug you. For the majority i would walk out myself keeping bittin area lower than your heart, NO TOURNIQUITES! Neurotoxin snakes, Best be hopin someones close and as far as i know there is not an antivenin. P.S. Neurotoxins shut attack and shut down your Nervous system.

Ethics of Finding a Trail Camera
coueschaser3 replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I had to vote moon the cam. under no circumstances sshould you ever steal anything. its a fellow hunter trying to accomplish the same thing we all are. but after all i always moon my own cams.....possibly with other explicit gestures....just incase some one does happen to find mine and feel a bit theivy. so if anyone finds mine that voted they would steal it or check the pics and delete yall got a suprising first few pics. -
.17 Remington
coueschaser3 replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
any centerfire rifle is correct. infact according to the regulations.....it would be legal for anything all the way up to buffalo. i wouldnt try anything bigger than pigs but it is legal. thought i remembered in the regs a while ago where it used to say centerfire rifle .243 or 5mm and above. but i sure as heck aint in there now. looks like a heck of a gun for predators probably would do wonders on a pig. -

Looking at getting a hand gun
coueschaser3 replied to IHunt2live's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
so many choices, so many calibers. some better some worse. try hitting scottsdale gun club or caswells and rent a few and find something you personally are comfortable with. truth is thats what matters and thats what the opinions you will get are based on. chances are the pop of a 22 will scare a cat away if you presence hasnt already. some calibers possess the KE to knock one flat some require a better shot. ive heard of cats dumped from trees with 17 HMR. probably not your best choice but it can do it. fine out if you like a revolver or auto better and make you choice based on your studies. you will probably be happier that way and have a gun you enjoy shooting. i think 44mag is a bit excessive to be carrying for that purpose but thats my opinion. 4" 357 is a pretty good choice and smith is a great REVOLVER, any shorter and your loosing velocity and KE. -
Looking at getting a hand gun
coueschaser3 replied to IHunt2live's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
original model was a browning M1909. either way enough with the bickering....i truthfully never have carried in case of a lion but its probably smart sometime. as far as protection goes anythin from a 22 woodsman to a 50 alaskan will work for cats. if by some chance anyone is swayed to go with a 1911 do no go with a taurus or para. best off with a colt kimber or springfield. or go all out and have someone build one up for ya cant find a better shooter than that. P.S. Firstcoues....your buddies with danny at BPS right?
