    22S Question.

A guy i know has the late 22S archery bull hunt. Now in reading the regs i see there is also a matazal wilderness hunt, being separate from the 22n 22s hunts. Now the question i have is can one with a 22s late archery tag hunt the matazals?

    22S Question.

He has been in the area, not in the matazals primarily though. I on the other hand an pretty familiar with them and the country it is. Definately gonna be a tough hunt. I told him its not easy by any means, but if he is up for the task and gettin way out there that id point him to a good starting point. Ive been all over there chasin bears and whitetails and its tough country but thats what i like. I told him to take a long weekend and back pack and glass some country up there a few times before the hunt. I think he'll end up likeing where i put him if he trys it rather than hittin the rest of the stuff. Being up high will give a bit of advantage in that late hunt i imagine.

    Illegal to Kill Rattlesnake?

Prarie rattlesnake and the Grand canyon rattlesnake are also protected. Grand canyon is a subspecies of the western rattlesnake.

Where Are You Going to be Opening Morning?

archery deer/bear- In the dark, 5 miles from any road, absorbing the cool temperatures and fearing the heat and bugs to come. Kicked back against a juniper on the edge of a canyon waiting for light to glass, so i can catch the movement of the big velvety coues rack or the contrasting hide of a bear in the manzanita. Rifle deer- Same canyon, cold, waiting for the sun to give me light and warmth. Waiting for the 100+ rack i glassed up the last evening of archery deer (hopefully), yet hard horned now. Probably watching a fat cinnamon bear casually feed now that the season is closed and i couldnt find him earlier. Rifle bull- Same canyon yet again. Freezing, trying to stay off the snow soaking through my cloths. Praying the bull i had glassed all year and watched though the rut is bedding in the same drainage. Fatasizing about his rack and thinking about being warm, but enjoying that there are no bugs biting and buzzing around. Waiting for light to reveal his existance.

    22S Question.

Thats what i figured. just didnt have the time to look it up. As for horses or mules i would normally agree but that country is the kind i favor and gave him an idea on how to hunt it and locate good elk. As with the late season i figure he'll have plenty of time to pack out with an elk but i did mention llamas to him. Thanks for the help, i think hes up to the challenge rather than dealin with the majority of the hunters in the less rugged country.

** For Sale....... to build a new gun.

Typically matching serial numbers would effect a pairs value. But with current production guns, good luck. You would have to find a collector that collects that type, meaning tactical guns, yet does not use them. Thats the benefit of having 100% unfired in the box guns. Being pre owned will drop the value weather fired or not and the Blue book of guns lists them in 100% condition at 1075 with a msrp of 1239. The problem is you typically dont find people collecting guns that are currently available even if the serial numbers are back to back. That and any collector is looking for a deal, something that is a good investment and typically will not pay the 1075 x 2 and especially not plus a 10% or 25% add on for serial numbers. The guns are working guns not exactly collector guns. But you very well may find somebody interested thats willing to prove me wrong. Im guessing realistic offers you may get are gonna be around 1800 for the pair maybe a hair higher, Thats what i would mark them at for resale in my shop. Good luck though.

    OSAMA or OBAMA

Last I checked, 9/11 occurred on Bush's watch. But luckily, he was quick to let all the other Bin Ladens out of the country lest we use them as leverage to make the House of Saud tell us where Osama is or before someone took matters into their own hands. But when it came to Osama, Bush had no mercy. I'm sure Obama's head is on a spike where it belongs for all the world to see or the SOB is buried in an unmarked grave with a pig's head on his chest. Enjoy eternity with a filthy pig you MFer. Oh wait, that didn't happen either. Well at least the Saudis repaid the favor by increasing their oil poduction. Oh, wait that didn't happen either. I guess all I can say is Viva Bush! Im thinkin you took the wrong attitude with the wrong person....but just my guess. not the best first post buddy.

    FS Burris Rifle Scope.

Ive got a Burris 8-32x50 30mm tube scope, it is the Black Diamond series, for sale. It is Brand new in the box never been mounted. I need extra cash rather than the scope collecting dust in my closet and not being used. Was gonna put it on a varmint gun but i really have no need for one in the close future and really think i should have gotten a lower power for my purposes. If anyone is interested the price is 750.00 OBO. They are typically 800 + tax from any dealer. The clarity on the thing is amazing.

    snake boots or gaiters

He is actually refering to Arizona Black Rattlesnakes....not timber rattlesnakes....which do not exist in arizona. Arizona black tailed's, different from arizona blacks, are also confused with Timber rattlesnakes because both are commonly found at high elevations, in timber if you will.

    22-250

If your looking for a MARGINAL deer gun the 22-250 will do it. For a good all around gun +1 on the 270, although the 25-06, and various 257's are nice, look into a 264 if ya want some what of an oddball. 22-250 is a great gun but really wouldnt be an IDEAL deer gun. Great for coyotes though. Comeon lark give em more heck than that. i know i got it for switchin on elk.

    Montana Decoys

First off i think its really gonna depend on your hunting style. if you are sitting water or a treestand i would obviously see a decoy as a waste of time and money. on the other hand if you plan on calling a bull to you it is a very good idea, and montana decoys are very light weight and can be worth while to have if the bulls are slightly call shy. i have actually never used a decoy but i can think of a few over called areas in which i have called bulls in and wish i had one. The reason being if you are not in really really thick stuff and your gonna see the bull coming ive noticed if they hear a cow and dont see a cow they tend to get a little edgy. especially if they have been shot at or busted before you called them. Typically i bugle to locate and stalk from there rather than bringing the bull to me. My theory that is if the bull is not specifically looking for somthing he is less likely to expect me. a bull coming to a call expects to see elk but after realizing that calls can mean people sometime they are realy cautious and a decoy can definately give them some peace of mind and get you your shot.
  18. I tend to be quite interested on anything dealing with the introduction/reintroduction of wolves in the U.S. I know that the Canadian Wolves in the Montana/Idaho/Wyoming area are not the native wolves and are much bigger. The question i have is that i have heard quite a few people on other hunting sites saying our "reintroduced" Mexican Grays are Wolf/Dogs or were interbred with something causing them not to be the same as what was here to a degree. I see alot of good info/research come up here and i was wondering if anyone had any links or information that can be backed up on this, or any really good factual info on wolves. Thanks.

    Question for yall.

Alright i got one for yall. I drew my 21 bull tag. I have been in the Gun business quite some time but normally hunt archery. I shoot very frequently, and have a pretty good knowledge of bullets and good guns for particular animals. Usually spend 60+ days a year Hunting/Scouting and add quite a bit more for range time. Now heres the question, personally i would never recommend someone a .270win for a bull hunt, especially open canyon country that may call for longer shots, up to 350yds. Now on the contrary i feel very comfortable with mine and can shoot quite respectably. I know the margin of error is effected rather significantly but i wont shoot past 350 and under less than ideal circumstances i am quite confident at that range. What is everyones opinion on this. I would typically suggest a minumum of a .280 for someone whom i am not familiar with their habits and shooting quality. I would plan on shooting Remington 140grain premier Bonded core-locks. As they tend to fit the purpose and have always had good luck with em in this particular gun.

heres a few of my own for yall. Whackadoodle-verb. The act of making a very good shot on something, particularly with a large rifle. Or hitting something very hard with any thrusted object. example; "That buck got out of his bed and I Whackadoodled him!" Also Billyjacked- Pretty much the same as Whackadoodle but slightly less effective at getting the point across.
