Recommendation for MTN Lion Taxidermist?
Gray Ghost 58 replied to Gray Ghost 58's topic in Taxidermy
I have checked with five other taxidermists, and most said no or were very reluctant to try. Three out of the five recommended a lady in AJ by the name of Christina Boggs. You can see her work on Facebook. She has done some beautiful work on Bobcats. I was using a Fox-Pro E-Caller. I had started my morning making distress calls for coyotes with no luck and switched to Bobcats for a couple of hours with no luck. Then, I switched to mountain lion calls. Fox-Pro has a call for lion in heat, and I thought I would give it a try. After about thirty minutes, this Tom made it to within 100 yards of my call and just hung up, pacing at the edge of this burned-out aspen patch. When he stopped, I lined up the shot and took it. I am a prideful man, but I swallow my ego and tell you that I was just very lucky as I am very new to calling in any animal, let alone a mountain lion. By the way, there is a proposal before AZGF to eliminate the use of hunting with hounds for lions and bears. This may soon be the only way anybody would get lucky and harvest a lion. -
Consensus on top 3 units and top 3 guides?
Gray Ghost 58 replied to Cadenhead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I would defiantly consider the southern units 36A, 36B, and 36C all units capable of 110"+120". As for the guide, I would give a 5-star recommendation to Torpy Hunts of Sonora. Pat Romero. Widely considered one of the best Couse guides in the Word! by his peers. I have been guided by Pat in all of the above units and MX. you would be lucky to get him if he is available. http://thsonora.com/ -
I think this dead head find is even better. I need to find a creative taxidermist.
