No wonder people struggle with Pubic Education these days! Make sure you make it all the way to the last paragraph!!! Schools reject controversial scholarship By Alice Kang | Posted: Wed 3:11 PM, Nov 08, 2017 (WMTV) — A high school in Wisconsin is no longer accepting a $500 scholarship from a local Lions Club after a stipulation required recipients to be U.S. citizens. Lake Mason Lions Club Spokesperson, Ralph Jacobsen said this has been a requirement for the past five years. School officials said they did not see it until this year, saying there was a handwritten note stating the group wanted the requirement of being a U.S. citizen underlined. Wisconsin Dells High School Principal, Hugh Gaston said that raised red flags and the district felt the scholarship requirements were not fair for all students. "Regardless of if they were born in Baraboo and grew up a block from the school, or if they were born in another country and they came here legally or illegally, I still think it's our mission to serve and connect with all students regardless of their background," said Gaston.

Lions Club Scholarship Denied
Non-Typical Solutions replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
Pretty sure thats already happening. Man I remember seeing a group training when in was in boot camp and it was similar to OCS I said i wanted to do that and my company commander said you can't and when i asked why he said i was white and my scores were too high, it is a special group that requires non white and has lower test score requirements to get in. So my scores were too low for normal OCS but too high and I was to white for the other. :/ just what we need is folks that don't quite cut the mustard being given preference points for skin color. guess it was a sort of affirmative action OCS. Btw this would be last year that NTC Dan Diego was open 1993 Heaven forbid you select the person most qualified for the job!!!!!!!!!! -
I saw one kinda like that once back in the mid 70's....living out in the middle of nowhere New Mexico with only three stations on TV and and antenna that was controlled by the wind.....I thought the world was coming to an end!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool stuff!!!

Working on a project using some reclaimed lumber! It has some big cracks in it but is still really solid! Anybody have any experience filling these in with an adhesive that is weather durable? Looking to try and make it less weather susceptible by filling in the cracks!

I have fond memories of this upcoming weekend being opening deer hunt weekend. Taking carved pumpkins out with us to camp so the kids could set them up around camp! No trick or treaters banging on the door....well, we weren't home!!!! I came across this article and thought how out of whack we have allowed society to get and how I long for years gone by, wishing my kids could see the world I was able to grow up in and experience freedom and fun! Best of luck to tag holders this weekend......I don't have a tag..........ugh!!! By Todd Starnes/Twitter Trick or Treaters are about to descend on the fruited plain dressed as superheroes and cartoon characters and monsters of all sorts. And that has universities across the country in full crisis mode. Institutions of higher learning are gearing up to provide counseling to students who might be triggered by an offensive halloween costume. Some schools are posting guidelines about unacceptable costumes - like Mexican sombreros and Indian headdresses or any form of blackface - warning that students could be punished for politically incorrect costumes. Back in 2016 a Notre Dame residence hall told students not to wear Disney-themed costumes like Aladdin and Pocahontas. "Cultures are not costumes. It is wrong to make a caricature of, enforce stereotypes, or objectify a people. Disney’s Moana, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan, The Three Caballeros, The Princess and the Frog, and a few other lesser characters have raised awareness to how easy it is to reinforce stereotypes through media," one residence hall rector wrote in a memo obtained by The College Fix. "More than ever, we need to be aware of how our behaviors and decisions impact other people. Our intentions may be innocent, but the impact could be devastating," the rector wrote. Heaven forbid someone offend a perpetually-offended tadpole by dressing up like a toad. And the University of Florida announced around the clock counseling for anyone who might be triggered by a sombrero-wearing Robert E. Lee costume. The other night I was watching a Halloween-themed baking competition on cable television and I noticed - one of the hosts - a person of color - was dressed in white face. I wasn't sure if i should be triggered or not. Trick or treat, America.

This is the one that I thought was funny!!! "More than ever, we need to be aware of how our behaviors and decisions impact other people. Our intentions may be innocent, but the impact could be devastating," the rector wrote. Devastating is when you lose a loved one......devastating is when your house burns to the ground and everything is lost......devastating is when hurricane Harvey sweeps everything you own away........how someone dresses for Halloween is not "devastating"!!! On campus counseling.........how funny is that???
