OK, I'll admitt, I didn't read the regs before I applied. It has been 20 years since I hunted 34B and now that I have tried to scout out the area a little I have discovered that there is a huge write up in the regs about all the closures on the Whetstones. Last time I was there we hunted up in French Joe canyon, but it appears to me that with with the northern portion of that range closed off that will throw more hunters into that area than usual. I have never been on the west side of that range, anybody have any feedback on that side of the mountain? Are there places to set up camp, call home base etc.? I will be headed down there to check it out myself, just looking for a little direction before I tank up with gas and head that way. White 79 Ford short bed 4 X 4 if you see me out there be sure to stop in and say hi......... Jeff

Prop 2 in California
Non-Typical Solutions posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I don't usually watch Oprah, but was interested in what she had to say about animal rights. California has a proposition up for vote, I am not sure if it is in addition to what they already voted in, or if this is their version of AZ Prop 204, but it is an interesting battle between animal rights and how meat, eggs and milk are produced. Oprah actually did a pretty decent job of trying to present both sides of the story, bottom line is getting the public to sympathize with the animal and their rights. Again, the general public has no concept of what it takes to raise meat and eggs and no concept of how well most of the animals are taken care of across the board. I am sure there are some shady production lines out there, but think of this... Why does most of the things I buy in Wal Mart come from China.......so much regulation here that we would just as soon let the Chinese work in sweat shops to produce all of our commodities......yep we regulated it alright, right out of our own country. One thing that was funny is at no time on the program did anybody every really show any sympathy for the animals getting killed for our meat eating pleasure, just that their stay here on earth wasn't a joyful experience for the animal. -
Kind of like the dog training book I was reading on how to potty train your dog..........if you dog eliminates on the floor do not spank them.............what the heck does eliminate mean???? That book made me laugh..................eliminate........Oh, hold on a second honey while I eliminate.............

White Tail Unit 27
Non-Typical Solutions replied to eldonkey's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Seems to me like back in the day there used to be 7-800 permits in 27...and maybe that was mule deer, probably, but there is a ton of country out there. If it looks like you can't go there.....you are probably in the right spot..... -
Trail Cam Technique
Non-Typical Solutions posted a topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Maybe you guys have hashed this out earlier before my time and I don't have a trail cam but I am interested in it....kind of a facinating hobby type thing. Fun for kids to get involved with, placing cams and checking them, kind of like trapping, but catch and release. What are maybe 5 most important things to consider when placing a cam.... Is it water? Maybe you have located a "general" bedding area, what do you guys look for when you set a cam up? Duh....maybe a well used trail????? What is most important??? I read an article written by Randy Ulmer, top ten most important things for hunting deer....."glass where the game are" was like number 3.....my boys and I got the best laugh out of that pointer......so don't give me the, "put the cam where the game are"....answer -
Dang it...and you just had to mention it was in Snowflake right....you couldn't have left that small detail out......but wait....that is critical because "Snowflake" hasn't lost touch with......well, OK, maybe we are losing touch with.......... Sorry about the poor representation from the Snowflake area.......it is kind of like the lady who asked me if we really ate the deer we killed......I asked her where she thought the steak dinner she was eating came from......... Lots of out of touch people........ gauchoand.....next time you are in Snowflake, holler and I'll go catching with you

Yeah, I would say that Randy isn't a very good test of the product itself, but he is a pretty good model with the critters he takes........dang nice bull Randy. You need to come up to Snowflake and lets go hunt something easy like coyotes......and bring some of that extra opti stuff and I will put a real test on it. Heck you can even invite Rusty if you want.........I'll put the camo on, you guys show me the coyotes and I'll do the shootin........... I love wearing camo.......but am too noisy and too impatient to make it work......opti or no opti........hunters like Randy and Rusty both and probably most of you'all don't really need it, but it is still funner than heck to wear...........kind ov like a uniform.

Putting the presidential race aside, this is possibly the most devastating issue to come across our ballot ever. If you value your right to religious freedom and everygthing else that comes along with this issue a YES vote is a must. Imagine this.......your church can't teach the adam and eve theory because you are being prejudiced against same sex partners. Boy Scouts which has already been severely damaged due to similar type pressure would have to shut down due to being prejudiced against girls, girls who like girls and guys who like guys......... Adoption agency in Mass. shuts down because of their policy to adopt kids to Male/Female couples...that has already happened.......... If you are a God fearing person and care at all about your rights to worship as you have in the past you gotta vote YES on this issue. This country was founded on a belief in God and Christ and this is a step in the wrong direction in a bad, bad way.....

That is the whole problem.....people keep trying to butt God out of the picture. So lets go ahead and set God aside....now all you have is it ain't natural even if you did come from some ameoba out of the water, black hole theory, big bang...........so now god is out and it is still the same issue....it just isn't natural........... -

Definitely appears to be some house cleaning in order almost to the point of sweeping the whole mess of them out the door.......here is a question to those who support the bailout.... If there is no bailout who hurts the most?? If I am already middle class worker....big money market man or retired counting on my retirement. No takers on this one???? If there is no bailout...who hurts the most?????????????? -

I also have benefited from the discussion, maybe helped me to be less of a bigot and like many have said haven't really changed my mind, if we didn't have both sides of the story it would be pretty boring. It is good to try and look through another persons perspective. I am a blessed man and am thankful daily for that..................
