    OH MY...

Not bad, not bad at all, probably green score right at 200 cents...........but when you take it to the grocery store it will have some ground shrinkage and only get you about 100 gross worth of produce.............

    New Years Eve tomcat.

That is an awesome way to bring in the new year. Living down in southern New Mexico as a kid, my New Years day activities involved a trip up into the hills thinking I would call in a lion. After seeing the size of those critters now I am wondering what I was thinking. Nice job.........

Sometimes Mother Nature smiles on you

Awesome story, good to see others having some fun with their hunts. It ain't always about the kill although that does put a smile on when it gets to happen too. Keep up the hard work, it will pay off and check out the warranty on that chair, maybe you can get a refund Better luck next time.....

    Got my first Lion pics

I think there are alot more cats out there than we want to believe, and having a threesome running around is certainly no comfort. One place we hunt it is not uncommon to find cat tracks in the trail headed back into camp after a day of hunting. Just make me wonder who was really doing the hunting. Nice pics........

Shedding some light on the COUES bone pile

Having attempted some "antler" furniture items myself, all I can say is that is some serious craftsmanship there. Like or dislike, that takes some talent. Guess I am gonna have to mosy on up the road a bit and take a peek at some of that. Thanks for sharing the pics, that is truly some Non-Typical work there

    Trail cam Revenge

After months of putting up with these pesky bears, trying different strap systems and lock boxes we were able to get in on one of them. We were amazed at the speed they have, incredible animals. Bear with an attitude. We had three seperate seeps that we set up cams on for deer. Bears had usually hit our camera within the first 24 hours of checking cams, replacing batteries etc. It never failed, we always had at least one of our cams laying on the ground taking pictures of the sky. Joe on the right took this bear with his .270 at about 100 yards running away from him. Cole in the middle saw two bears on our trip but was shaking too bad to get a shot off. Garrett on the left was our trusty guide who kept us from getting lost. We were actually on our deer hunt but after seeing so many pictures of bears on our cams decided to make sure we had tags for just in case and it paid off for us. What a great hunt we had, no deer, but still just a fun time. It is spooky being out in the forest knowing that bears and lions are keeping an eye on you. But man what a great priviledge it is to be out there kicking around the in the hills. My wife picked up the elk shed during one of our ventures.

    Trail cam Revenge

We got the skull back on this bear and I did an "unofficial" measure on him. Total 18 1/4 adding the length and the width. Not a monster by any means, but not too dang bad.

    "Medical" pot

The slippery slope just got slipperier(sp) Watching the news last night Joe made another sweep picking up 17 employees using SSN's that did not belong to them. The company claimed they were "committed" to hiring legal workers. Joe said it right, "These people are using your SSN's and that is serious business" As for the pot legality, just look where our neigbor to the west is with that stuff and you can see the future of our state I fear.

WOW dang nice bear, and I guess that answers the question about whether a bear can climb a tree or not right?? Cool pic of the treed bear.

    property pics

interesting - thats the area i've been tellin most escouters to check out - along the pipeline above stone lake - nobody has to my knowledge - but we almost always see elk in the general area lol nope i'm 14 n/w of ashfork ! I'm tellin you, there have been alot of nice critters taken on the pipeline......used to make me mad to come back to camp only to find out a big buck or big bull had been taken by a road hunter on the pipeline. If I thought I could drill a well and have water I would love acreage out there, but then that would bring the houses and the people. Good luck out there with your property and trail cam adventures.

    Saturday Morning Coyote

We went and make a couple stands last weekend, borrowed a FoxPro Fury setup to see if I like what it sounds like. Was disappointed as we came up with not even a yip yap we know you are there response, but had a real good time with my boy. Gonna have to try and get up in some of that burn by Show Low and see if we can't find us some fox. Congrats on the success.......

    dad not letting me hunt

Good story, at least you finally got it right, right??? That to me is the important part. We all are idiots somewhere along the way and for all of you out there that never have been an idiot, congrats for that I didn't mean to include you in the all statement. I have alot of students who have passed through my doors who didn't fit into the system very well, but went on to be successful Moms, Dads and money makers. Many of them make more money than I do as a teacher sad to say but true. Getting good grades and going on to college just gives you more doors to choose from when it comes time to make money, plus in most cases a college degree will get you better pay and working conditions. Things right now are pretty upside down out there in the work force, I used to kick myself in the tail for not sticking with the cabinet business but right now I am thankful to have a good job. I don't make big money being a teacher but I do get to watch all my kids wrestling matches and baseball games which to me is worth alot of money. I get to sleep in my own bed every night of the week except when I am out hunting. I have told my three older sons, right now is a great time to get an education cause there ain't no work out there so may as well take advantage of the lull in the job market.

    dad not letting me hunt

I always did get to go hunting because I had the fear of my dad in my bones. Not getting good grades meant I got to spend every hour after school taking care of pigs, driving tractor, tromping cotton, pumping sow barns, and trust me, making grades kept me playing ball and hunting. I wanted to hang out with my dad and older brothers on the hunts so I made sure mom and dad were happy with the report card. If I wanted to go to the dance on the third saturday of the month, my dad always made sure I put in my quota of hours at the pigfarm, that was just the rule. Good luck in your hunting and schooling........or um, schooling and hunting

    dad not letting me hunt

There are a lot of things about this statement that I agree with. I am an educator and teach a vocational course, my degree is vocational education. I think college is pushed way too hard. Most of the meetings I end up in on behalf of failing students end up with the final same conclusion. LACK OF PARENT INVOLVMENT!!! In education we know that if we have 30 kids in a classroom, we have 30 different individuals, none of them learning the same, none of them hearing what we are saying the same and not all of them getting the same answer to the question. Many kids really need a dad to take them hunting but that is not happening. Many kids really need a dad and a mom to help them get through the educational system, but that doesn't always happen. In this case, you have a dad wanting to hold his kid responsible because he knows just how tough it is out there if you don't learn responsibility. Jack, in this case the kid needs to think outside the box and realize that his dad is dad and is calling the shots until he gets old enough to leave the house. After he leaves the house he can go ahead and set up his own plan for when he gets to go hunting or not. This parent holding a kid responsible has nothing to do with being stupid, slacker or bad work ethic, just a dad teaching his kid. Now if he is not stupid, a slacker or bad work ethic he will put 2 and 2 together and get 4 and realize what he has to do to go hunting So....You are an educator and you misspelled INVOLVEMENT? Just teasing...Guess that was kinda my point...Personally, I wasn't just TOLD you have to do this...I was TAUGHT! how to have a good work ethic, how to be responsible, how to be a man, and the importance of those things from being around my dad and his friends on hunting trips...I was fortunately and had a great roll model to follow. And by NO means was I saying to disrespect his dads rules of him having to get good grades...just read this thread the majority seem to believe that if you don't get good grades and go to college then you aren't going to amount to much...and thats just not true...thats all I was trying to say I know, that is why I said I agree with you. Ouch, I always hate it when my students point out my mistakes, it was actually a test to see if anybody was paying attention!! So now I get to throw it back at you.....I was fortunately and had a great roll model to follow, that would be role not roll. Keep up the good work, I really do agree with you that hanging around your parents is a great thing in most cases.

    Poaching

While living and teaching at Ash Fork we had some poaching going on there, they were stacking elk meat on the bottom layer of their wood load and hauling it down to the valley and selling the meat......stiffer fines and penalties for offenders...........
