    Help with Wooly Worms?

Back in the 70's my dad and I did alot of fishing on the backside of Big Lake. My favorite fly we used to call it a brown wooly with a gold band. Surfing on the internet I can't seem to find anything that really looks like it. Am I using the wrong terminology?? Anybody out there who ties flys interested in making me a dozen? Not sure of the hook size, but it measures about an inch and a quarter. Would love to get my hands on some, I have a bet going with my son, he thinks I am just telling old fishing stories.

    What woudl it take?

While this fire is still raging, homes still in peril, lives still in the line of the fire, forest disappearing by the hour!!!!! There is obviously going to be alot of timber out there that got blazed but is still standing, reference the R/C fire experience. Will they let logging happen? Wouldn't it be smart to get all that timber out so we don't end up with the same problem on the floor of the now barren forest? Why not start right now while the fire is still hot and get people ready to go in and help out what is left of our barren forestland? Does this make any sense to anybody else or am I just not getting it?? They let the R/C fire sit, and sit, and sit......and then allowed some logging, but it is now a mess out there if any of you have tried to hike through some of that country. Who or what can we do to get our system to take care of this right instead of just letting it sit?? Are we going to stand by and watch or can we do something?? Not trying to diminish the current status of the fire, but really would like to figure some way to be proactive in getting this in front of the leaders who are going to be making this decision. Brewer??? Washington DC??? Sierra Club??? Thoughts???

    Wallow Fire

One of the Type one commanders said that the only thing that would stop this fire now is a rain storm, and I believe it..... Thanks to all the fire fighters out there trying to knock this sucker down and protecting what they can.....

    ADIOS

Biker, I am working under the assumption that you won't read this since you won't be back to this site, but my hunch is you will at least look one time to see what all of us chest thumpers have to say. This is a chest thumping site, if you have ever told stories about your hunting experiences then you are one of us. Most people would show a little empathy to others who have suffered loss no matter how small or large, or how stupid we may think they are or were. Take New Oleans for example. Is it not rediculous that they live below sea level?? For most of us it is dummer that rocks, but we still empathize with those who lost homes, posessions and life. heck, my home owners insurance went up because of hurricane Katrina and I haven't even ever been to the Big Easy before. When you come on here and say you could care less about other peoples losses, well it just tends to rub a little the wrong direction. Even a cat gets pissed off if you rub their hair the wrong direction. You have many valid points about building in the trees putting ourselves in the line of "fire". Memories don't burn up, structures do. My boys all asked me what we would do if Grandpa's cabin were to burn down in this fire. It just tell them, I have my memories and we will build new memories. Good luck in finding that spot in this world you are looking for where there are no fires and no chest thumpers.

    Unit 1 Fire?

Just got word that Alpine is getting the notice to evacuate, that fire was headed more west but turned north hard and fast. Gotta go get pictures and stuff out of the cabin, if we could get that dammed wind to stop blowing maybe they could slow it down.

Lance, If that is something your son is interested in let me know what you need from me to get him started. If I could get a dozen tied up that would take care of me for a while. Thanks for responding so quickly everybody.....

    Help with Wooly Worms?

When I was a teenager I did tie a bunch of my own stuff, and I still have a vise somewhere out in my shop. Really boils down to time for me, guess I was just being lazy.
