fall trapping rendezvous
Non-Typical Solutions replied to tomgobbler's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Tommy, where is that at????? -
One bear met its end today in Snowflake. Rumor is a gal jogging met up with the bear and then some guy who already had a tag for this year called G$F to get the OK to take the bear out. Not sure if it was on the north side of 277 or the south. Maybe somebody else has better details. Here is the bear number: 1-800-970-2327 Definitely gonna pack a bear tag for my deer hunt this year....

After taking a second look at that deer picture, it doesn't look too healthy either. Bad water????
-
Looks like some of the coyotes that hang out around the pig farms north of Snowflake. Most of those dogs are mangy, rat chewed and sick looking from falling in the lagoons

He just got a little carried away with the single blade razor is all!!!

Are these bragging hunting forums?
Non-Typical Solutions replied to SirRoyal's topic in The Campfire
I have been hunting for 40 years and have never killed anything like some of the critters people on here have killed, and I am sure I can't shoot as good as most of them. But I sure do enjoy reading the stories, looking at the pictures, I love the trail cam section, that is just awesome to see the great animals we have creeping around in our state. Plus those lucky guys who have them coming in their back yard Keep posting the pictures and the stories...... -
While I was up in Alpine last week I went ahead and visited the FS office there to check on open roads up there. They have a large map hung on the wall there showing the "Proposed" access for hunting this fall. It shows three areas that are going to be completely closed for 1-5 years. One area is the Bear Wallow Wilderness area of course. Another is Escudilla Terry Flats area The third is somewhere inbetween, I didn't look close enough on that one but I bet it is Middle Mountain area but not sure about that. Anybody else seen that map??? The lady told me over and over that it was a "Proposal" and not yet been approved. One thing that was funny, I was asking about south of Strayhorse to see if I could go hiking down there. "Sir, the entire Apache-Sitgreaves forest is closed. I know there was no fire there but the entire forest is Closed!!!" Yes Ma'm............

Just like in the "Old West" ??

First off they are dang lucky it was 40 degree weather and not 110, and my bet is Grivalja is the one who spilled the beans...wait.....made up the story??? -
Good luck with that one. I think I am gonna set up a trail cam in my back yard and see if anything is slipping through on me.
-
Pick me up off the floor.....that is hilarious..... +1 on the spider legs or something similar....
-
That right there is borderline insanity.......make an honest man think about things he hadn't ought too......nice pics and heck of a nice buck.....good luck getting him a quarter mile away from your house

Unit 1 and 27
Non-Typical Solutions replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That was some good information, thanks, especially the FAQ's section of your link. Scary thing is though I really didn't get to see much map of Unit 27? Am I not doing something right or is it just not ready for public access yet??? Thanks for the link. -
That was my first thought as well, then I went home and it is like hey....my internet provider blocked me out too.....I mean it did say FORBIDDEN at the top. So I am thinking, that some hacker didn't want me looking at dead deer and animals...... Thanks Amanda for a great site that I enjoy reading on a daily basis....
-
That right there is what it is all about....nice catch boys...
-
That does look like fun. Hope you have been preparing yourself for what Unit 27 looks like, it is gonna break your heart.....thanks for sharing and glad to hear you are making your way back down south.

Unit 1 and 27

There were several people who came in while I was gleening information and they were there for permits to travel for example to Sprucedale because they had rented a cabin there. Big Lake road is "open" for travel but you are not to go out hiking in the forest. She assured me they were working hard to get the forest "open" for hunters and such but that I would suffer a $5000.00 fine if I were to get caught hiking around in any part of the Apache-Sitgreaves forest. Good luck on your youth cow tag, I have a 27 whitetail deer tag and looking forward to getting back out in the hills. -
Money and the lack there of. The High cost of living ain't nothin like the cost of gettin high........got me, two kids and the wife to put in for Elk.....ain't gonna happen cause if I actually get drawn I now have 4 tags and can't afford to put gas in the truck or take time off work.....burning both ends of the candle.......

One of our drives during the stay was up Auger Canyon there out of Nutrioso. Not sure where your folks live there, but that was a pretty scary sight to see how close those houses were to the burn. Course if you follow the ridge down from the Alpine divide towards Nutrioso it is easy to see what was headed for Nutrioso.

I am sure there are those with better pics of what has happened and what is going on out there but thought I would share a few from this past week up at Alpine. Got cabin fever waiting for Big Lake road to open up on Saturday. Here are some photos from the cabin back porch from Friday, this is about noon if I remember right. First sighting of water headed our way after a good rain. Pushing cows out of the pasture, those cows were not happy. Flooding over the road to the Chapache development. Fence that got bent over because of the trash it collected. Emergency vehicles responding to a group of motorcyclist that got washed off the road about half a mile north of Big Lake turnoff. Tobaggan Hill in Williamson Valley, or what is left of it. Elk next to the burn on Big Lake road. Three Forks.....this one just was horrible, the picture don't tell the story. Bad burn through this area and logs that have been cut for safety reasons. The Y off Big Lake road to Middle Mountain and Diamond Rock. I hate to see what that looks like down that road. Very difficult drive, while there is alot of green, it is unacceptable the devastation allowed by this fire.

Unit 27 WT we will have our bear tags as well.....sure do hope they open up the unit for hunting, come on G&F Gods, smile upon our unit -
NOHOCH, I figured giving you he was 2 miles south of Hannagan was more than enough info to give somebody some hope. Two years ago we had 2 Unit 27 Bull tags, went way off down south and saw one bull while my wife watched 20 bulls run through that meadow in front of my dad's place....they know where to hide
-
Pine Donkey, How about your folks place in Nutrioso??? We came home last night through a heck of a storm and I worried about the flooding.
-
We ran over to Alpine today for the first time since evacuating my dad's place. Say what you want there are some bright spots out there but it made my stomach ache. First photo here is just dropping into Alpine, my dad's place is to the far right, red roof. Next shot is just climbing out of Alpine south on 191 looking back at South Mountain, it is ugly. Last picture for those of you who have unit 27 Bull tags, this guy looks really lost about two miles south of Hannagan. Thanks to all the firefighters....my dad's place was spared as were many, many others.
-
That is awesome, congrats to the kids for makin dads day finding some horn......
