Obama prolly has to sign off on that and since you're donating your time he'll prolly farm it out and pay big$ to some other guy and say he created more jobs! James Funny you say that. After that lengthy battle on here in early spring about that bill and all............I have tried multiple times to get G&F to help me get set up on a project with no results. You are probably right about that................no rubber stamping donated time, that would not be acceptable.

Dillon's first taste of archery success, LBD!

Great story and kudos for handling the situation that fell in your lap. That can be really tough to work through. Most of us would have left thinking that surely nothing else would come through. What broadheads was Dillon shooting?? If I may ask??

    Frustrated

One of our favorite tanks to check out has fallen victim to the Wallow Fire. It collected drainage water but also had spring water elevated down to it with black pipe. That pipe got damaged and the tank no longer recieves spring water. I contacted G&F and said I would donate time to restore that pipe line or fix damaged areas. I have yet to get anybody to respond to that offer. Good tank gone dry.

I was hoping that somebody would start standing up for something in that department. Nothing like being told to take care of the border and then having cuffs slapped on so you can't do your job.

    Thoughts on Baiting

I agree 100%. Without mandatory reporting, G&F has to extrapolate based on the respondents. I think it's a fair assumption that successful hunters are more likely to respond than unsuccesful hunters. That kind of voluntary reporting can skew the take statistics that the following year's management approach are based on. I'd be fully supportive of any measure that requires mandatory harvest reporting. It imposes very little on the hunters and gives G&F a lot more accurate information to work from. Real curious about mandatory reporting, sounds like a great idea. I am sure it would be more accurate than our current setup. Is it such that if you don't report, you can't get drawn for the next hunt correct? I have read many posts on this site about how people don't fill out the voluntary report, if they aren't willing to do that, why would they be honest in a mandatory survey report. We all talk about not wanting more regulation and then jump on mandatory reporting......regulation............when we as hunters won't even fill out a voluntary survey report??? Sometimes I do think we are our own worst enemy................

I can't say that I totally agree with what you are saying ... but I do agree that politicians on the left are using it as a distraction. I don't support "Gay Marriage". I believe that marriage is defined as the union of ONE man and ONE woman. If you change the definition of marriage to allow "Two Consenting Adults", what is going to stop people from saying "why just two???" Down the slope we go ... The crumbling of the morality of a society is just the first step in the crumbling of society. I don't have an issue with "RIGHTS". All people, regardless of race, creed, gender or orientation should have the same rights. If two homosexuals want to bond in some way similar to a marriage ... fine by me ... just call it something else. It isn't a "Marriage". Call it a "Union", a "Bonding" or a "WHATEVER" ... I don't care ... just don't call it "Marriage". And don't rub my nose in it ... I don't want to know what someone is or isn't doing in "their own home". I am tired of militant gays pushing their agenda on the rest of the populace. Ever hear of the bike event in San Francisco where a bunch of gays get together and ride on public streets in the nude? Let me ask you this ... if a bunch of straight folks decided to do that, would they be able to without getting arrested??? heck no. Of course ... I don't know too many straight people who would have the slightest inclination to do that. No ... I am not a HOMOPHOBE. I am honest. I don't believe in the lifestyle, but I don't condemn them for it either ... that isn't my place. I don't think they have a choice in how they see life, but I do believe they have a choice in how they behave publically (just like we all do) ... militant gays ramming their lifestyle choice down my throat ain't gonna get them any support from me. Also ... Freedom of Speech and Thought is guaranteed by our Constitution. Regardless if it is insensitive or hurts someone's feelings. If the Libs don't like what I say or think ... screw 'em. Think I can be forced or coerced to "toe the line" ... think again ... that is why there is a Second Amendment, and why I train hard several times a week in case that Second Amendment is ever removed. Great points....................

    Thoughts on Baiting

Thought provoking indeed and enjoyable to discuss and look at things from different angles. I think good discussion is healthy but can sometimes cause diseases......you know hoof and mouth!!! I enjoy the discussion. I know I suffer from conspiracy theory all the time no matter what level of government. But rightfully so, the governing bodies that are set up to represent us have failed us more than once so I get gun shy. We got conspiracy going on right here in my own school district where I work if you can imagine that..............

    Thoughts on Baiting

Maybe the learning curve for hunters has improved overall. Technology, rubbing shoulders with good hunters turned me into a better hunter. Instead of just walking a ridge to bust out a buck, I now spot and stalk, or glass. Compare the bow I got for Christmas 30 years ago to the bow I gave my son last Christmas with a whisker biscuit and all............my bow is like an ancient dinosaur. I hunt an area right now that I would have never hunted if I hadn't of put out trail cams. I get pictures of so many great bucks that I just can't stand the thought of not getting one of them. After 3 years of trying to get that big sucker the score is still deer 3..............me 0. Trail camera didn't make me a better hunter it just got me thinkin I could maybe catch up with that big one in that area so I keep going back to see if I can win just once...................

    Thoughts on Baiting

Thanks for the info Tonto, but is awful quiet all sudden. If you go back just a simple 20 years ago, just shear population of this state was different. I have felt in recent years that the population change, which I believe statistics show are heavy Californites.....have a strong influence on what this state is faced with in many ways. Another thing that has changed in 20 years is the growth of vegetation in this state. We used to hunt 20 years ago unit 27(rifle, any antlered deer) down by smoothing iron and maple. We would ride our horses in, pick us a ridge, do some walking hoping to jump a buck. No sneeking, just a prayer that we ran into something and had a clear shot. There was some thick areas but you could almost always count on being able to find shooting lanes and plenty of deer. We recently went back in there to check the area out after many years absence. It was so dang thick we couldn't hardly get our horses in there. Thick, thick undergrowth and little to no shooting lanes. May as well put the rifle away and grab a bow, get quiet, find a water hole.................or, put out some bait, lick, something. My point is, many factors come into play with the wildlife in this state, CWD I don't think that is one of them. You want to run a statistic, just check out the increase in mountain lion over the last 30-50 years. Ranchers used to be pretty vigilant in trying to keep them at a minimum, but with the reduction of cows on the range, law put into place in favor of the cat, now lions are seen more often than ever and they take a pretty serious toll on deer population in particular. Just sayin, theres lots of factors, lets just talk about the real ones.................
