    Antler Restrictions

Here is one that was removed from the genetic gene pool and Cole nor I are disappointed at the least. As a dad trying to help my kid have a successful hunt, I am glad he was able to find a legal buck and take this first deer for him.

    High Centered

I saw this on the news yesterday.............hilarious except for the fact that we are still tolerating it.........

    High Centered

Saw this a few times via various news sources this week. Pretty funny pic, I think. They were obviously note engineers or geometry thinkers..... Reminds me of a time or two as a teenager getting my dad's Suburban high-centered on various obsticles while trying to get the extra 1/4 of a mile while quail hunting with my buddies. Learned a few lessons back then....... Like how to use a High Lift jack and a shovel!! Not sure I get your point about 'still tolerating it' though? What are we tolerating? S. With all the resources we have we still tolerate our border to get abused..........that is all I was refering too......

    Pigeon Problem

Could be? The beak is kind of curved? Curve-billed thrasher There maybe a cactus wren in there too, I would have to watch it again. I will wait awhile so people can watch it and come up with their own list before I post the actual. nontypical, you did pretty good, but I believe there are more than that. the red-headed sparrows are actually called House Finches the big black bird you saw is a great-tailed grackle and yes there were some cardinals there is no road runner....not sure which one you thought was that one...maybe the curve-bille thrasher and the yellow birds are the lesser golfinches Ok so now I am going to have to watch it again.....................hey Snap.....just put this on like a loop and watch amanda's birds and forget about feeding yours!!!!

    Elk Antler Knife

My son gave me a knife tang so I decided to try and be "creative" which I am normally not. I have spent a year picking it up fiddling with it, putting it down thinkin about it....messing with it, getting mad, frustrated ready to throw it out the window. When I was done, I decided to look at a catalog for knife parts and found out they all kinds of cool things to "help" with the project. DUH!!! Instead of getting the nice set screws I used just simple roll pins, sure wish I woulda looked at that catalog before I started. So the tang is embedded with two part epoxy and the roll pins. It is in solid but probably should have used the nice set screws instead. All said and done, probably not a practical knife for using, but maybe a great conversation knife.

    Christmas Tree cutting

When it looks 10' tall out in the woods......it is really 15' Make sure you go prepared for weather and nasty roads. Growing up in New Mexico we did Pinion Pine, but since we have been in Az I have tried to get a blue spruce....they have flat limbs and look awesome. Don't pull a Chevy Chase and forget the saw or ax. They literally will drink up as much water as you can give them in a day so don't forget to replenish the water. One of the funnest family traditions we have in our family.....I buried my 79 ford in a bar ditch/snowbank one year....made my wife so mad.....I spent the next three hours digging out while her and Cole walked out and got the tree....... Great memories........

    Ethical kill

Snap, When it comes to daughters......and I only have boys....but I imagine that ethics, morals and all other kinds of guidlines can probably go right out the window. My point....trying to stay on topic .................... We all have our standards we think we live by......others as AKA noted may not have grown up hunting like many of us have......... Tough to place judgement on somebody out there that you don't know...................common sense.........sometimes just doesn't exist...........

    Ethical kill

I did a really really dumb thing this past summer. I was taking my boy down to a wrestling camp in the valley. At the corner of Val Vista and McDowel I think.......witnessed a crash. Pulled over to see if everybody was OK......... Saw one driver jump a high wall.......the other person in the car...........all banged up trying to jump a lower wall. At first I was in trying to get the injured guy help mode.....but he finally jumped the wall and took off. Like an idiot, I took off over the wall after him and kept him at bay until police showed up. When I got back to the car.....my wife and son both had very choice words for me.............idiot, dumb and just plainn stupid to name a few. As immoral as we may think some people are accoding to our measure......there are some just flat out really bad people out there...............

    Ethical kill

Too bad Lark ain't here to weigh in on this one.............it is almost like hunting over bait Morals and Ethics are such a broad spectrum. Drinkin in camp is that moral or ethical? Driving roads? Spotlighting until the deer are so buggered they ain't there no more? Ten year old out there shooting a gun? Old man out there shooting a gun? It really is too bad that we all don't have the time to be expert shooters at 1000 yards even though I can't imagine being even able to see that far. It is too bad that we all can't put the arrow right through the kill zone. Is a hundred yards too far???? I probably would never approach a stranger and try to tell him he was doing something immoral or unethical. If I saw "illegal" activity going on I would report it to those whose job it is to administer the law. Lord have mercy on me if the meter I use to judge others morals or ethics is the same one I use on myself....... Good question.................interesting discussion Final soap box................does common sense ring a bell??????

    Rattlesnake Bite

So, you are 2 hours from civilization once you finally get to the truck, but more than likely you were 3 miles away from your truck when you got bit by a rattlesnake. What do you do??? Is there like an epi pen available or some other treatment so you have a fighting chance out there???

    Amazing Year - Congrats!

My wife reads novels..........I read CWT!!!!!! Some of the best info and greatest stories I have come acrossed in years and I enjoy it daily and have spasms when I don't have access to internet and no CWT. Unless I am out hunting then I am OK with that. I really like it that it stays youth friendly as my son likes reading the stories and seeing the pics. Good post Coach......

    Backyard hawk kill

When I was about 11 years old I found a baby hawk that couldn't fly yet. We called them chicken hawks, don't know what their real name is...... I would go to my dad's pig farm and catch mice to feed to it. It grew and matured and one day I took it out and turned it loose. Was a really fun experience. I would set him up on the roof of the house then put a small mouse down on the lawn, then watch him nail that poor little thing. They are a very interesting part of our wildlife......cool pics and condolences to the victim.......................
