I have truly enjoyed this site through the years. Many stories have inspired me in many different ways. Getting invloved with wildlife projects. Wanting to get better at shooting. Prompting me to try and hold out this year for a "bigger" buck. But this time it is different. I read TAM's article about his loner hunt and how he prepared for it. I even messaged him and asked questions about how he got in shape. After reading, getting some pointers from TAM and making an agreement with my son Cole. I dove in and started losing weight. It wasn't that I was just, huge big, I just knew I was packing about 30-35 extra pounds that I wanted to get rid of......... Cole was wanting to wrestle 106 and I was wanting to go from 165 down to 135ish.......... I haven't seen 135 for about 35 years, graduated from high school weighing a whopping 125. Yesterday I weighed 136...........Cole has been wrestling 106........and honestly I feel lots better. Helped me quit snorring at night which helped me out with my wife........ So thanks TAM for your inspiring story..............and to all you out there who make this the only site I go to for reading and info regarding just about anything............

Wrestling practice started October 1st I think.......I told Cole I wouldn't eat any junk if he wouldn't. That makes for a tough deer hunt I tell you but we survived it. I also used a program called calorie counter to help me choose better food and portion size.

I remember watching rally's back in the late 60's on TV......protesting the war.......wondering who had time to rally. My dad would have never had time to leave the ranch to go rally. Now as I have gotten older and watched rally's.......I don't have time to go to any rally either......most of the rally's I have witnessed made me wonder how those people were able to keep their jobs and have so much time to "rally". I tried to rally and cast my vote back in November........but it was not to be.................. You gotta admit when the media covers a rally.....they interview the ones that they want to either look really good or really bad depending on which side of the issue the media wants you to hear......... Good luck on the rally.............I will be wrestling in Payson that day................

Thanks for posting the document.....interesting read. Lots of things G$F is agreeing too on who's behalf??? If I didn't know any better I would think I was trying to drive across the reservation paying an access fee and all.........something smells funny with this......... So if I pay $60 bucks....I can access only if I have a large game tag and only during the specified hunt seasons??? Yep.......the prarie dog towns are rallying on this one............ -

Was my first car given to me in 1981, I thought maybe someday I would get it all fixed up nice but I don't have the talent or the money to do it. Does not run, has been sitting for probably 20 years, in its day it was a smooth ride and my wife even married me after seeing this beauty. Pretty sure the engine is done but I am no mechanic, I was driving it to Show Low to get it tags and it started clanking, had to tow it back to the spot it rests now. It is full of dirt and dust but maybe somebody has a use for it. Make me an offer and come get it located here in Snowflake.

It Only Takes ONE
Non-Typical Solutions replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
I still enjoy blowing on a hand call and feel better about things when I finally get one to come in, but I really like the variety the electronic offers and the ability to just sit still and watch. Plus their focus is on the call instead of me and my moving ways. I like my Sceery as well and remember well growing up thinking there had to be a better reed than the Circe had or I needed to figure out how to keep my spit out of them. Lots of fun for sure................. -
Coyote calling has always been one of my more favorite things to do. Growing up I lived in a rural area that saw little pressure and FoxPro had not yet come along although the Johnny Stewart tape players were around. Anybody with a sqawker mouth call could call in a coyote. You didn't need to wear camo, or have any scent cover. I used to call coyotes on the way to school. As the years have zipped along, my kids have little faith in the stories that I tell of calling back in the day and honestly I have not produced as the stories of yore would profess. After what seems like ten years or more of just plain having bad luck, no time....whatever the excuse I can come up with for not calling in and putting the smack down on a coyote................yesterday we finally got it done. Using the .17 Remington that my son built for me and the FoxPro Scorpion that my wife gave to me a coupe of years ago, we finally found a coyote that gave us the opportuninty. As I saw this coyote coming in I whistled to Cole to try and get his attention for a shot, but that stopped the coyote at about 40 yards. As he turned I put the crosshairs on the back of his head and it was all over. I love that .17 Remington. Bad cell phone pic but hey......I am not ready to retire from coyote calling. I call this one dumbdog cause he broke a drought like no other and once again I want to call more than ever.

There is a lady close by in the Snowflake area that teaches concealed weapons course. She highly recommends that you take the course first trying out different styles of pistols and then going and buying the pistol your wife likes. She provides several different styles through the training to give her options. Her biggest thing is "Men, don't try to buy your wife a gun that you like!!!"

$30000 Wooded 40 acre parcel in northern az (parcel#890/Westwood Ranches)
Non-Typical Solutions replied to kaelucas59's topic in Classified Ads
The parcel is about 30 or so minutes northwest of Ashfork. You sound familiar with the area - you take seven ranch road north out of Ashfork and it turns into forest road 142; which will take you right into Westwood ranches shortly after you cross under the BNSF. Once you are on the ranch, its about 10 minutes to my parcel. Mount Floyd & Round Mountain are part of the Westwood Ranch - It is beautiful beyond words.... I so love this area - but have no choice in the matter of selling the property. Thank you for the water info - much appreciated; I didn't know. Have only camped up there a few times. Have seen unbelievable amount of elk up there ! I actually was pretty bent out of shape when I heard all that area started getting parceled up.......right in the heart of some great hunting country. Absolutely a beautiful place to own 40 acres.......and there are some monster bucks and bulls out there.... -

How far north of Ash Fork is that property?? Most people out there have to haul water and have a cistern set up of some sort. Water via well is next to impossible, they have a well in Ash Fork but it is at an unbelievable depth if I remember correct. We hauled water and it is just a way of life that you get accustomed too. I would love to retire on 40 in that area some day and I would haul water too.....close access to some of the best AZ has to offer in wildlife.....good luck on your sale, wish I had 30K I could spend on something like that.
