My brother shot a buck back in the 70's had a similar wound on one side....deformed antler on the other......

Crazy story......my son's wife got a knock at the door by the cops one day.....looking for the owner of a vehicle, description fitting their vehicle and the plate on their vehicle.(which was not their plate) Turns out somebody had swapped plates on my son's truck... and that plate was on a truck that was involved in a crime. Spooky thing to have happen so along with your list of serial numbers add all your vehicle and trailer plates.

On one hand......I want a monster opening morning at 20 yards.......on the other......I hope to spend as many days as possible out there....I have time to take off work and won't miss it one bit if it takes me every day. And.....if I don't kill......I still got to be away from work and out in the woods dodging rain storms, fallin asleep on a ridge when I was supposed to be payin attention.......wondering why that dang alarm clock went off at 3:30......... Rut or no rut I am going to be giving it hail!!!

When you have the baby of the family, spoiled rotten it gets to where they don't need anything and you don't want to buy them anything so this year we decided to take Cole to Lee's Ferry for his birthday. In my senility and lack of paying attention I didn't realize that Lee's Ferry had fallen from the "trophy trout" status. Well......trophy or no trophy one of the best fishing trips I have ever been on, between the scenery and 100 plus fish it was a trophy fishing trip for me. I spent more time getting fish off for my wife and I was just having a blast watching her put a beating on Cole and his buddy Cody. Every time I turned around she was reeling in another trout. This is a great picture though, some great memories to put in the trophy case!!!

Ummmm....that is why we ate them.......

Yeah....Mike made the trip very enjoyable to boot, I want to try that on my own next time but felt it was well worth having Mike give all the historical info, cooking lunch and his horrible ugly I would never have rigged my pole with that kind of bait ever but I never changed what we were using cause it just kept catching fish....guide.

Man we sure get bent out of shape fast these days.....can't we all just get along???

Going to spend 4 days this weekend in Unit 1.......can't wait to find out for myself!!!

Tough to those cornerstones move on, truly a different generation and world they grew up in compared to ours of today. I always remember after my mom and dad passed thinking that they were in a spot where they could really keep an eye on me now!!!

Getting antsy for this hunt coming up and seeing these nice bulls just makes it more nerve racking.....good looking bulls.

Kids are pretty tough.......what is that word??? Resilient? I have put all my boys in situations at a young age where they could have possibly hated hunting!!! Quail hunting with a 10 year old north of Tucson, dragging him for miles as he put it. Calling coyotes early mornings with absolutely nothing but howls mocking us. Fishing for hours with nothing but bottom and lost lures and flies. Antler hunting where there was no chance in heal there would be an antler cause there was 3' of snow there during the shedding season. Ask any of my boys.......I gave them plenty of opportunities to not like to hunt, but somehow they have all enjoyed hunting and fishing despite their fathers crappy guide service. It was all the fun stuff that happened while we were out there being outdoors. Getting stuck in a snowbank, losing the keys on a mule ride and having to ride 7 miles in to civilization for a phone, hook in the cheek and falling asleep on the hillside where you were supposed to be glassing for elk!!! Just keep it fun.........

Woke up this morning and realized that my baby boy really turned 18 yesterday. We had a simple cake, candles and a couple of small presents. Reality is a tough thing......I have been so blessed with the bunch of boys that the man upstairs sent to our home, and now to see the last one getting ready to hit the door has me pretty tore up inside. Each one of our boys has brought that something special with them and contributed to our family. There were those days when they were just a royal pain in the butt but looking back.......T-ball, soccer, football, band concerts, viola lessons, pet turtles, pet dogs, pet lizards, wrestling and more wrestling and then Sunday wrestling on the living room floor....hunting, fishing, antlers......oh heal the list goes on forever!!! You youngsters out there .....don't give up on mom and dad.....and young mom's and dads, don't give up on those youngsters.......the family is the most important unit on this planet and to give that blessing up is cutting yourself short on one of the greatest blessings there is for us here. Anyway......my boys have filled my life with so many great times and for that I am truly grateful!!! I know you have seen these pictures before but ......... for all the great times!!!
