    Glock forced to redesign

They need to just design a safety mechanism that disables firing when the gun is held sideways.
  2. This last weekend during the 6A cow elk general hunt we had two different misfire situations. In both instances it was with Hornady ammunition, but two different types: 143 ELD-X and 120 CX (copper mono), both were fired from two different 6.5 Creedmore rifles. Both showed adequate primer strike indention. Ammunition and firearms were all recently acquired within this last year and neither have ever had misfire issues prior to these events during this hunt. The only possible variables not accounted for being temperature and possibly altitude-although neither I would consider extreme. Fortunately, there were enough shooting opportunities that both hunters were able to tag out using the same firearm/ammo combination. Was curious if anyone else has experienced similar situations with Hornady ammo or would have any thoughts on why two separate, isolated instances would occur under the same circumstances-other than quality issues with the manufacturer or their suppliers?
  3. Just south of Lake Mary. Lot's of elk and rut activity going on. It was my grandson's tag along with two other youth hunters who drew on the same app. Friday they were screaming all morning. Never considered use for a call but my son went back to Flag to retrieve one. One bugle was all it took to bring in a bull with several cows in tow...that was all she wrote. Casey's game processing in Flagstaff said they took in a record number of animals for a single day on Saturday (50+) and had no room in the cooler to take any more.
  4. Should of mentioned both shooting new, factory loads. One from CVA Cascade and the other a Ruger American. Other than suppressed no significant mods. Sorry, don't have pics right of the primers at the moment.

    Elk Rut Update

They were screaming in 6a today. Saw lots of quality bulls pushing cows. Reminded me of the best archery hunts from days gone by. Two of the youth hunters we were helping doubled up today for their first kills in the cow elk general hunt.

2025 Father-son antelope Best Hunt of My Life

Awesome! Hunting with kids is the best!! I get more excited when they tag out than any hunt I have ever been personally successful on. To both tag out together has to be extra special.

    Daughter got it done!

My 17 year old daughter got her first big game kill opening morning in unit 7. So proud of her! She did everything right, well composed, and a well placed single lethal shot. I feel a little guilty bragging on her when I know so many have been putting in for longer than she has been on this earth, but still grateful for her first, of hopefully several, hunting adventures. After today I think she has caught the fever!

    Daughter got it done!

No mid 70's. Not a lot if mass and one of his prongs has seen a few too many fights.

    Daughter got it done!

Thanks everyone. A tad over 16 inches in length but not a lot of mass.

  11. My family eats very clean and we had a recent discussion about the possibility of ingesting lead from our game meat. Although from my research the chances of lead poison are unlikely I have been considering switching to all copper mono rounds to keep peace at the dinner table. The downsides seem minimal but from my research these rounds do need some velocity to expand properly. Since most of my kill shots have been between 350 - 500 yards in recent years I am wondering what kind of performance one could expect with copper at those distances (6.5 Creed). Anyone have any experience with all copper bullets on Cues beyond the chip shots?
  12. There may be some truth to that but IMO the real grifters are the ones who made up the food pyramids, chicken m nuggets, "masks will stop the spread", etc. So I am ok with a little skepticism towards any government or for profit institution that says "trust us, we are here to help".
  13. I guess that is why I am questioning the performance on a small body animal like the cues. They penetrate well but will it expand? I am guessing ballitically 500 yards or less would be fine on my setup but at what point/distance do you risk only getting penetration?
  14. Yeah, they worry about that too and it is expensive.

    If You Know You Know

Have had many Australian cattle dogs and Queensland heelers over to the years. Love the breed but you got to have the juice to keep up with them. My current heeler is 15 and still going strong.

Who's going Goat hunting this year?

My 17 year old daughter drew a unit 7 rifle tag on her first application (plus Hunter Ed point). I thought for sure it was mine when cards hit as the computer odds had me about 1/30 and she was at 1/250. Happy for her for sure but know how frustrating it is for those who have been putting in so long without success.

And the Card hits will begin

Doesn't seem like enough reports of success have been posted to say it is completely over. I got hit 2 years ago at 4:30 pm so there is always hope?
  18. Don't know the exact cubit feet but would guess 17 - 18. It measures 33" wide, 27.5" deep and 66.5" high. It is not frost free. Exterior cabinet is in good shape. There is some cosmetic rust on the interior racks from moisture but does not affect performance (see pics). $50.00 bucks. Just need it gone. N.W. Peoria near Lake Pleasant and Happy Valley.

    Flagstaff Hunter Education Classroom Class

Thanks for posting this. I was able to get my daughter signed up. Great excuse to hang out in Flagstaff over the next four days (as if I needed an excuse in July).

Anything I should know before buying a trager?

Saw a couple of these Pit Boss Laredos on clearance at Walmart in Flagstaff today for $246.00. Tempted to buy one at that price: https://pitboss-grills.com/grills/wood-pellet/pit-boss-platinum-laredo-1000-wood-pellet-grill-1

    Wahoo... Card hit 7:22 pm.

How long until cards are hit??

People here are funny: The constantly complain about how incompetent the Game & Fish is (or at least their draw system), but they have complete and total faith in their ability to precisely execute the drawing process with the same exact precision they have done in the past, and then form all these baseless conclusions based on that confidence. Nobody has a tag yet. This season is a just a hack-the correct presumption that if you have been charged for a tag you will receive one. The G&F has not asserted anything and has the prerogative to handle the draw and timing of it anyway they want to until you have been officially notified as either having been “drawn” or “not drawn”. Honestly, if I worked at the G&F and had any say in the process I would drag it out the way the appear to be doing right now. Sitting around reading all the whining and theorizing on these website threads would be the most entertaining week of my work year.
