Received an email from AZSFWC which you may or may not know of. Here is a link to the information which once again shows the bias of our "State" daily newspaper. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=26c78400-dc5b-413f-98e2-dcce075e84ff&c=db733fd0-36e9-11e3-b170-d4ae5275b1a5&ch=dc47cde0-36e9-11e3-b23d-d4ae5275b1a5 Stay committed and spread the word. I don't care to see a wolf in NAZ.

Roger's half way there, he could swing down and start building the farm animals back up!!

i do some, DU lately. im kinda broke right now due to $200 in application fees alone this year. but why dont we stay on track. you dont think that AZGFD should be in charge of organizing that sort of thing? The Arizona Elk Society (AES) and Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society both put boots on the ground in the water catchment projects on a regular basis. Many of the other groups also provide funding and manpower but in my observations these 2 work year in and year out to provide water for all the animals that utilize catchments. AZG&F does participate and their developement crew also haul water and build and maintain catchments. BUT they are a small crew and can use any help we as sportsmen and women can provide. Most of the water hauling by AES and others is done in conjunction with and cooperation of the G&F. The unit game managers provide the information of what or where the greatest needs are.

When I first read the topic and original post I was headed to post a reply. This one more than covers what I was going to say. When water is hard to find the elk and other wildlife, statewide, can drain a drinker quite quickly. Thanks to the efforts of the AES there is some mitigation. I don't want to step on toes here but if all our wildlife groups could work together and coordinate the use of our memberships, donations and banquet proceeds on more water developments and maintenance everybody would benefit. Just my 2 cents.

Come November I'm going to stick my fishing pole out the window then creep back to the Jeep after an hour or so! Just have to figure out which lake (5B) to use.
-
You can get out of the weather in a Jeep and turn on the AC or heater. My wrangler can get me any where I need and boot leather can get me into the hunting area.

Need help fighting those tiny flies/nats
cosninocanines replied to Arrowsniper's topic in The Campfire
I had great success with the Therma Cell electric repellant. Kept our sitting area in Alaska clear last summer. Reviews ran the whole scale from 1 to 5 but it worked for us. Walmart usually carrys them in the camping section. -

here are some faq and statistics http://feralhogs.tamu.edu/frequently-asked-questions-wild-pigs/ James That was very interesting reading and well worth the time for some pig education. -
Back in the 30's my dad told me that to earn a boy scout swimming badge you had to swim from the road out to an island and back. That little knob can be seen on the west side of the lake north of the roping arena. He also talked about using row boats launched at the store to fish for perch.

Thanks! That's boots (or bodies) on the ground predator control -
With the lake low they will really be consentrated this year, set up in one of the view points on the east side and glass the entire edge. You can get closer to the north end at Dairy Springs on the west side but can't really see the south end very well. Always fun to sit and watch especially when the young ones are playing tag and the big bulls are just laying in the grass.

http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/documents/bonus/5-2013/2013%20Fall%20Draw%20-%20Bonus%20Point%20Report%20-%201-2%20Pass%20by%20Hunt%20Number.pdf I'm not sure I'm looking at this correctly. If you go to page 50 and look at hunt 06001 it appears to me that the tag went to a hunter with 12 bonus points while passing several others with more points. I'm looking at the line with the 1 under Total Success as the hunter with the tag. In hunt 06002 the tag went to a hunter with only 1 bonus point. Am I wrong on this? How do you read the report if so.

I found all the hunts http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/documents/bonus/5-2013/2013%20Fall%20Draw%20-%20Bonus%20Point%20Report%20-%201-2%20Pass%20by%20Hunt%20Number.pdf I'm looking at a unit with 1 tag and low success rate. Why? I've seen sheep in there and I (if ever so lucky) would be the only hunter in the field. PS: Resident Hunters Only

I understand the pdf but don't see the hunt numbers I'm interested in. Could one of you fine people please send a link or directions on how to find prior years 2012 etc. Good luck TJ and everybody on your Fall apps.

How many of these animals can you find? This is pretty cool!! Whether they are hunters or the hunted, these cunning animals are all masters of disguise who can fool even the most beady-eyed passerby into believing they are not there. Some hide under lily pads, some dissolve into the bark of a tree while others slip seamlessly into the snow, either to hide from a hungry predator or silently stalk an unwitting prey. But the one thing from which they cannot hide is the all-seeing camera lens of photographer Art Wolfe. He has spent over 35 years roaming the deserts of Africa, the rainforests of South America, the mountains of the United States and snow plains of Canada to capture wildlife at its most invisible. It's white in front of you! A willow ptarmigan in winter plumage, hidden on a brushy slope near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Having a giraffe: A Giraffe in Transvaal, South Africa. Wolfe's 35-year career has spanned every continent as he has followed his passion for the environment. Can't see the wolf from the trees: A wolf peering out from behind a tree trunk in an autumn Montana forest Eye spy: A spectacled caiman in Llanos, Venezuela . Cunning tricks: A Great Horned Owl uses color in its plumage to disappear in a temperate forest in Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon An American Pika performs a vanishing act in the Cascade Range of Washington, bottom Leaf me alone: A Mealy or Blue-crowned parrot disappears like just another leaf in the lush Central American rainforest, Chan Chich , Belize Snake eyes: A horned adder matches the color of the sand in the Namib Desert, Namibia , where they bury themselves using a swimming motion to disappear beneath the hot surface Can you spot me? A Leopard conceals herself in vegetation at the base of a tree in Kruger National Park, Transvaal, South Africa A California Ground Squirrel blends in with its rocky environment Bark and hide: A Great Gray Owl positions itself in front of a similar pattern to take advantage of his camouflage in Oregon , United States

Lake Mary Country Store and Trailer Park 928-774-1742 Levi owns and operates the place it's on Lake Mary Road about 6 miles out of Flagstaff. They all love to hunt and fish and he has a wall full of photos if you have to wait in line.
