Arizona Elk Society Water for Wildlife

Dan has been at Colcord most of the summer heads home every now and then to clean up resupply (be sure and call ahead 928-606-8245 if you want to help) and say Hi to the family. He and various volunteers have repaired well over half of the 70 or so drinkers the Wildlife Manager identified in Units 22 and 23. Hope to finish all so we can move on to the next area. Unit 7, 8 and 9 are completed for the most part. Ongoing and always looking for any help we can get.
  3. AES has been repairing water catchments on the rim and can always use volunteers. Check out their facebook page at "AES Water for Wildlife" for information on where they are working. Call or text Dan Bradford 928-606-8245 to volunteer, camp is set up at Colcord Ridge Campground (free no cost to camp) and work is ongoing.

    Boat/Motor transport help

Probably not a solution for you but I take my 15 horse off the boat and lay it in the back over the trailer wheels. Motor weighs 50 lbs or so and the day will come when I won't be able to pick it up and lay it down but so far this has worked.

    Sold

Thanks! We have been looking at upsizing (really just getting a slide in the bedroom) and I see these table and chairs in a lot of pics and saw that as a big problem when we leave the pavement. This answers some of the questions I had. Mike

How do you secure the table and chairs? I assume this unit left the pavement a few times as we do a lot of boondocking. Thanks, Mike

What was your first hunting rifle?

Remington .22 pump which I traded in early 60's +$ for a (new) Remington 550 semi auto .22 which I still have. First big game rifle was a Marlin lever action 30-30. I lent this gun to a "friend" who got it wet and left it in a closet where it rusted up. He took it to a "gunsmith" and I never saw the gun again. I had already moved up to a Ruger model 77 in 7 Rem Mag and still shoot this gun at larger game. I won a Tika stainless in .270 Winchester which I have shot a lot but haven't hunted with it yet. I do have a 23 javalina tag so it will get it's first chance in the field this spring.

    2015 sheep season

Nice Ram! Try not to get caught up in the score you took a ram that you felt good about and it is a good ram.

    Tire chains?

Make some phone calls to high country auto parts. Stay away from cable chains get the real deal. These are all in Flagstaff NAPA 928-774-2733 Coconino Auto 928-774-5047 Tractor Supply 928-774-3622 Cal Ranch 928-526-4300

    Tire chains?

1 set should do the job. be sure and put them on in your driveway or garage to make sure they clear your fenders and brake parts. Check front and back and both sides on the front. Even with tighteners and the cam the chains will run loose when in motion so if there is a tight spot don't use them unless your prepared to make the repair. I always have chains on late hunts and have never (knock on wood) had to use them. Good Luck on your hunt.

    Amandas dog Julie

From Amanda on facebook "Amanda Moors Thank you every one for your comments. The lion that killed Julie is now dead, but not before it killed another dog. Houndsman Clark Richins went in with his dogs and was tracking the lion but it circled behind them and came up behind Clark and grabbed one of his best young female dogs and killed it instantly by crushing its skull....Clark shot the lion as it was carrying his dog away. He said the dogs didn't find the lion....the lion found them and hunted them with no fear of dogs or human. It was 125 lb lion....a two year old male that would have gone on to kill more of our dogs and perhaps children if it wasn't killed."

    Scope advice

Upgrade your Nikon to a Nikon Prostaff 5 with BDC I have this scope on my Tikka .270 and love it. I have the same Buckmaster as you on a Ruger 7mmag and have no qualms but this Prostaff 5 with side focus in 3.5x14x40 is sweet.

Questions on a Remington 280 rifle

Tikka T3 stainless synthetic stock with a Limbsaver recoil pad. Topped with a Nikon Prostaff 5 3.5x14x40 with BDC reticle. If you choose to go the .270 winchester route
