    ATTN: 3c Hunters

Will stop by if in the area. We have to make two stops now in Heber, your folks place, and that dang donut shop. My kids go crazy for those donuts, I have to admit, they're pretty darn good.

    Dead deer?

Hunted a corn field once with a buddy. We shot one, and let it lay. A few minutes later, more came out in the same area, and couldn't care less about the dispatched carcass. They only spook once predators come in to feed on the remains. Shoot one, let em lay, deer could care less. The only problem you'll have this week, is you'll have to clean, and ice the animal quickly.
  7. get a .270, a muzzle break for the 7mm, or a bigger girlfriend . It kicks a bit more, but if she's used to shooting she can handle it.
  8. I don't shoot a .270, but there was some O'Connor guy, who killed a heck of alot of animals with one. 17" drop at 400 yds ain't too shabby. I shoot a 30-06. wanna see the drop on that at 400?

    Az Pheasants

There are a few preserves in Az. It's not the Dakotas, but it's still a blast. The pen raised birds taste just as good as well. You just have to realize what your hunting, and not expect a snow covered corn field, with wild birds everywhere. We just go out to work the dogs, and spend some time with friends.
  10. Very nice. I was just asking myself the other day if anyone around here hunts springers. What area were you hunting in?
  11. We always wore rubber boots in NC, but nothing is fool proof. You can also try dragging a line of non-estrous doe urine behind you. I found that it really calms down deer. It's a very neutral scent.

    What would it take?

Since you can draw a coues tag every year, I wouldn't be too picky with a mulie. If I see a 2 yo+ buck, I'll eat my WT tag.

    Leftover License Results

That's funny. I was in the G&F office around that time and heard the girl in the next booth tell a guy on the phone he drew a 36c tag.

    DRAW RESULTS UP!!!!

Now that's cool. I got a 21 WT tag. First time in 21, I can't wait to start scouting. It's always nice to get to know a new unit.

    fact or fiction?

If you look at a state like NC, where there was no limit on antler size, a lot of spikes are taken, and mature deer are few and far between. I think there was only one B&C deer taken during the 10 years I lived there. Now you take a state like Kentucky, which has a one buck limit (NC had a 6 buck limit when I left), and a minimum antler size, and they produce quite a few trophy deer. They learned to let them grow a few years before harvesting, and the quality of deer went up exponentially.
  23. It's becoming more and more of a joke. I guess they failed to realize, that if there is a rise in global temperatures, the growing season will increase as will the amount of food produced. the tell all line is that we should pay more for fuel, and food. This is all about the dollar. I'm just waiting for the extra taxes to start for energy consumption.
