  1. If it's legal, it's hunting.
  2. I guess the initial response from Cooper was all BS after all. As a business owner, it appears they have done the best they can with the given situation.
  3. Here is the e-mail I recieved: In response to the recent article highlighting Dan Cooper’s personal political donations, the board of directors, shareholders and employees of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc would like to issue the following statement. The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper. Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms. The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. Daily operations will continue with the competent staff currently in place in Stevensville, MT producing the finest, most accurate rifles money can buy. Dan Cooper has spent all of his working life producing the highest quality rifles built here in the USA. He started with nothing but the American Dream and built that into firearms company anyone would be proud of. We firmly believe Dan stands by the 2nd amendment. We wish him all of the best in his future pursuits
  4. Are you sure it was a coues?
  5. good post lark. I know if I sight mine in at 200, I can expect an 8 " drop at 300, and like a 24" drop at 400, 500 I'm looking at a 49" drop. That's zeroed at 200.
  6. You're opening a can of worms here. In a good way though. My loads which are a 150gr Accubond, drop 52" at 500 yds. This is comparable to a .308, .270, and 7mm mag (depending on the load). A lot of people will tell you that 500 yds is too far for an 06, which I believe is hogwash. If you're going to shoot at that distance with an 06, I recommend a good scope and a ton of practice. Before a hunt, I would recommend hitting the range 3 times a week for a month if you really think you need that kind of distance. But don't let anyone tell you the 06 is not capable of being a 500yd gun. I have been pouring over ballistic charts to find a true flat shooter, and I keep going to a 7mm STW. Keep in mind a lot of caliber talk is personal preference, and family tradition. It's all fun though. Also, if you can't aim confidently with an 06, you won't be able to aim confidently with any gun.

    What are the odds?

That's a quick way to go from OH YEAH to OH S%!T. What a crappy turn out. I think you can hunt till you put your tag on something, but I'd be so sick, I don't think I would be able to leave the beer cooler.
  8. Those two weren't driving a brown silverado were they?

    Coues Deer Hat Trick!

Good job Blake. We only saw does this weekend. I'm pretty disappointed. Glad to see you had success.
  11. I wouldn't normally think much of this, but I know of a city worker, who has left the state, due to DHS telling their dept to expect severe civil unrest in the next 60-90 days in Phoenix. I'm not paranoid, but I think it's time to finish the AR and stock up on supplies.

    Question about Unit 22

A side note nano, I wouldn't bother scouting till after the 23rd, when the rifle hunts are over. Thier patterns will change between then and now. I saw hunters in 2 of my honey holes this morning.

    Question about Unit 22

I had the Nov cow hunt 2 years ago, and got ran out of 22n by the bull hunters. I found 1 spot in 22n with no other hunters, and found some bulls.

    Noon Siesta or

All day. I do pay attention to the moon as well. I expect to see more movement when the moon is directly overhead, or 180* on the other side of the ball.

    Unit 21 coues...

Yeah, found 3 nice ones yesterday. The problem is, where they go when the other 449 peolple show up. This is my first Oct hunt there, but from what I've seen so far, it has some nice potential. I'm surprised that G&F has a 19% success stat from last year.

  19. Good one. Yeah an Obama presidency won't be kind to us small business owners, or anyone else for that matter. Thanks for the referral offer, I'll need the extra work to pay my taxes
  20. A/C - what if the bill was flawed , or not as good as it could be , or there was embedded corruption ??? Because there was bi-partisan "NO" votes, I am inclined to believe that there are few on the Hill that may want what's best for the country - instead of quick fix. Not saying I'm right, the republican or demoncrats or anyone is right/wrong... but I know if we allow the Bush-appointed idiots who got us here, as well as Pelosi, Reid and Barney Frank [aka Clem Cadiddlehopper] all to mastermind and spear-head a correction plan - then we might as well have the financial genius of Charlie, tax-evader, Rangol to the rescue! "i'm not as think as you drunk I am!" I was referring to the fact that the Dems always seem to get the most air time, and blame the Republicans for anything that goes wrong. I'm glad the bill didn't pass.
  21. Why is it that when the Republicans held congress, and a bill didn't pass, it was the Republican's fault, and now the Dems hold Congress, and a bill not passing is still the Republican's fault? Wall Street is now Las vegas east. If you play the game, there are risks involved. Nobody puts a gun to your head to invest your money there, you have other options. Look at Scottyboy, he did his homework, and made adjustments to protect himself. It's not my fault that others did nothing.
