This was heavily debated in another post with lots of opinions for and against there use .I have no problem with using what's legal .I've taken them with a stick and string ,pistol ,multiple different rifles I don't recommend a 300 wm at ten feet unless you don't mind your gun field dressing your pig as it makes a mess of things .its eathier a contender pistol or a paramount pro in 45 for me .

6a is great for the general cow hunts .we went 4 for 4 on opening day in 2016 2 early morning and 2 late all done by Sunday we had another guy from my friends work up on the hunt and he scored Saturday at the same spot I got mine .It takes a few points and 6 is usually not so good on odds for general it does get better if you do the muzzleloader hunts.

check the atf site .I didn't get the user id and it had a deal to send you a new one if your email is on file.might work the same.

The draw odds are great for late hunts but the success numbers are low.There is the weather and all the pressure the animals have been put thru.Most are broke horns and in some thick ruff stuff .It's a hunt that requires more time and work. If you put in the time they can be a good opportunity to fill the freezer but don't expect a monster.

The biggest clue is to check the oil .if it looks like chocolate milk .mine was just the coolant color on the tip of the spark plug the white was pink from leaking

My 4runner did the same thing and it was a bad head bolt .caused the gasket to leak just a little and it would start and run like crap for a minute then be running like a champ .

Down to the last 2 boxes of shells for the season .Over 500 shells were donated and passed out to our youth this year .I'd like to thank those who donated shells I'm sure there is a kid with a big smile that really appreciated all your generosity

If you haven't already you could put them in for the free gun I'm giving away .It's a 30-06 but just had a axis works break installed .It should be just about the right weight to really take up the recoil and make for a great shooter for our younger generation.And its free !!! Just an update the gun went to axis works and had a break installed .It is currently getting the break cerakoted thanks to the generosity of mferns another cwt member.The gun looked good but was shinny at the end of the barrel.

I felt the same way when I started with a bow.I could get close but not get a shot.IF it wasn't a bad angle it was getting winded.Then after 10 plus years I finally got a 12a tag and was in the deer and got a shot and hit the buck right in the shoulder and at 18 yrds at that .We looked for several hours for my buck and never found him .Only a drop or 2 of blood every 4 or 5 feet.It was a real kick in the nuts for sure .It made me really think about my setup and I switched to a fixed blade and will definitely aim for the second rib back .Keep at it and it will happen.

My trip to California got me several new to me guns from my dad .one being his #1 in 300wm it has a ziess scope and he had a break installed .I hear they can be a pain in the butt to get to shoot anybody have any experience with loads for this and or tips or tricks to get it shooting good groups.

I've had the gun out for 1 range trip and it shows a lot of promise.The big setback for me is the position of the scope .I can't get a full clear view outa the thing and will need to order offset rings to move the scope around and clear it up .I've been busy with work and trying to get the youth giveaway gun all dialed in .its almost ready for bore sighting and a range day before I donate it.THE hicks must be what I've heard about .when I can find time ill order the rings and move the scope and give it another go .I'd be real happy if it shoots moa or less .THEY are such a beautiful gun and all wood and steal.

Hi viz makes a fiber optic magnetic sight I guess they call it .sticks on the rib in front of the bead and works great .I put one on my 870 and it helps me focus on the bead and target.

Quality is going to cost .What's that saying you get what you pay for.Good gunsmiths are not cheap and they usually have a wait to get things done but the wait is bacause they are good.I had a break installed on my 300 wm awhile back at a shop in scottsdale was a reputable shop till the Smith retired.needless to say my threads looked like they were cut with a dull paperclip it was a mess and I almost cut the end of the barrel to correct it.on the other hand I've had Keith at Phoenix custom do work on my gun and just picked up the youth giveaway gun from axis and am impressed with the level of detail and quality of work .not cheap but outstanding work.quality and it shows.

I also am going to miss all the great pics and weird things they catch not just animals doing people also do some crazy sh*t in the woods when they think no one is watching.My cameras are headed to the communist state of California where they are oddly still legal and my dad can run them.

Wright armory should be able to do it but they aren't cheap.
