Back from the hunt and first day at work in two and a half weeks sucks.It was a tougher than normal hunt this year .The buck numbers were down per Abby the local fish and game officer.Bucks were down between 1/3 and 2/3 in her opinion.We worked the east end for 10 days before I found a buck and screwed it all up.Inside 50 yds on a good 4x4 and managed to drop my release when I came outa my tree stand to do a walk and stalk.The doe and fawn numbers are off the chart good .They were everywhere.Turkeys look good as we ran into a few big flocks 30 to 40 birds 4 days in a row.So any of you guys with turkey tags the birds are there and traveling to water mid day .Good luck to all chasing them up there as I will be in 6a chasing them there.If your hunting them in 12 a and need a starting point shoot me a p.m.

Always good to get away .Most doe had twins and a few had triplets .They were everywhere we went.So a good winter and a few more years and ill be back to try my luck again .This time I've got a spare release.Picked one up on the way home.

My buddy sent me this pic from a spot I found 2 years ago on the 6a muzzy hunt.Its probably the 6x6 I didn't get a shot at .I just got a look the last day of the hunt.Its hard to tell but I wouldn't pass him up this year.It also caught several other species crossing thru this pinch point and its real close to where we set elk camp.

There are good bulls in 6a .I've taken a 6x5 broke the tail off one side.My dad shot a 7x6 a few years back .Most of the time we see good bulls .I don't know what they score but a solid 6 or 7 works.My buddy has been up there for work and said the roads are a mess.There is standing water everywhere.They were on 81a the other day.

After cooking up some brats from my pig hunt they were good but missing something.Anyone marinade brats before ? They just need a little spice to help them be great.

What caliber ammo are you looking for? If its something I have I'd let you have it.Deer starts next week and ill be up north for the rest of the month.If I have stuff you can use I'd have to get it to you by Tuesday.

I had them do some before and the were not that good .Maybe just the type was not for me.These are plenty long enough just a little lacking in flavor. Also the last time I was in there the wife was with me and it got expensive quick for a few steaks.They were real good but real expensive.

Good suggestions .Now I'm hungry again .I will have to try the beer and garlic ,red pepper,onion combo.They just need a bit more flavor and that should probably do the trick.It was a new processor for me and I probably should have opted for a much more flavorful combo.I've done the cheese and jalapeno and just didn't like them .This sounds much better.

Yesterday was the start of my California pig hunt and we were in pigs at first light.The first pig spotted was a banded white and black that came up from the crop fields .She was small and had a piglet and a smaller pig in tow .Won't shoot the sow with the piglet.So into the hills we went and we did find pigs .We found a good group and it was on .I couldn't get a shot on the lead boar and the guide said to shoot the third one back .Just before I was going to let it rip he waived me off and said we could do better.No pigs spotted in the afternoon hunt just some California blacktail deer .

The drive was 12 and a half hours to California so for a few more hours it might be worth it.The tags are $84 bucks per pig in .ca.When I was looking at Texas there is a lot of ranches that have no limit on pigs and no tag fees.I'm sure they make the money up somewhere.They probably get you for processing or ranch fees .It might still be cheaper if you can get a few buddies to tag along .The rates go down with more hunters. Also you don't have the lead free requirements that California has and you can use your black rifles that California won't let in the state.

My friends mom got a case of Russian 7.62x54r delivered to her she never ordered.It was sent to her by mistake.She tried to get it picked back up and they wouldn't .So when I was out for a visit I picked it up and brought it home and had it sold in 15 minutes.I sent her the cash from the sale.Make sure you have the correct address for shipping .They wouldn't come back and pick it up!!

Finally getting to enjoy some of my pig .Nothing like brats on the grill.

Walmart at power and ray had 222 ammo on the shelf if that helps.

Beautiful hand cannon.I was just looking at them and there impressive.The wife says no more guns for awhile.I've got no place to even hide it safes are full. Good luck with your sale.

Congrats!! you can't eat the horns anyway.So a good bull is one that gives you the best opportunity at filling the freezer.

If cost isn't a issue look at sphur mounts .Great for scopes with turrets .I've also used egw rails and Nightforce rings with good luck.

Something tells me he would be pissed.Also my wife is against me hunting alone again after my father's day pig hunt in California and a case of kidney stones .She wants to make sure I'm with someone who can drive the truck and trailer home if it happens again.

Got my tags also .I also got my buddy's tag it was mailed to me not to his address.I know I put in his address as it self populates when you enter there hunter I'd info.Not sure why I got his yet but not complaining. Its still a kibab tag.

I guess the original stocks were composite and dipped to look like wood.They no longer do that .I might still have the stocks dipped back to a wood look.

Leupold is great on warranty.I had the same experience as mentioned sent my binos in and they couldn't fix them .I had a new upgraded pair 2 weeks later.Browning is about the worst I've dealt with .They had one of my shotguns for 8 months for stock replacement due to the dura touch finish going bad and the whole gun got sticky like you stuck your finger in half dry glue.Sent in a gun with beautiful looking wood stock and got back a carbon fiber look as they don't do the wood finish anymore.

Kids are about 1k a month till they go to school .Then you get a little break and then it gets expensive again.

Last time I drew a kibab tag it showed 5 days before the hunt.So figure around the week of the 12th or so.My buddy didn't get his in time and had to get from f&g office.
