Load data for staball6.5 and a 7-08
Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thank you .I'll start there and work my way up.Its a custom 7-08 with a brux 26inch barrel that was put together by Phoenix custom rifles .It's disappointing to loose so much from the summer at 3034 to 2900 with current temps. Hopefully this powder is more stable and still gets me some speed and accuracy. -
Load data for staball6.5 and a 7-08
Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It's a 7-08 and I need to run copper for California hunts with dad. I was running r17 and it was shooting great in the summer but lost it in the cooler temperatures. 168s would probably be slow and not enough powder to get them going. I was at 3034 and dropped to 2900 -
My dad is a hunter safety instructor in California and he tells me it's hard to get new instructors .Most are retired gentlemen and do it for the enjoyment of teaching the next generation. When they do finally stop teaching it's almost impossible to replace them.I was asked many years ago if I was interested in teaching or helping out here in Arizona and had to pass as I don't have enough time to dedicate .Please remember most are volunteering there time and most will make room for the younger kids .

I didn't see anything in there manual that gives you the data on hold over .But most are only true at full power unless they are noted for a set magnification. Some are just short of full power and will usually have a mark or dot on the mag ring.First focal plain is the way to go if you can get use to the cross hair shrinking and growing with magnification.

Way to go !!nice ram

There is currently a post in the classifieds for 243 ammo for sale. Good luck with your pig hunt .I did California pigs over father's day and had a good time.
-
I ordered the 26 sendero light a few days ago and they were still showing 1 in stock this morning and it was 50 bucks cheaper .I'm hoping they will give me the better price but that's still a great deal .

Anyone headed to Tucson and back to the valley that could pick these up and meet in the valley? There going to some of the most grateful kids .
-
There older Bushnell I believe 2x 6 but I'd have to check .They seem to have a small eye box and if your not perfect aligned behind the scope you can't see .Probably just need new scopes with a wider field of view .Maybe a bi-pod and a bag will take care of it.

Black akc lab pups 1 male 1 female left $400 or guns
Crazymonkey replied to Presmyk's topic in Classified Ads
Free bump my buddy picked up 2 pups from one of the last litters and they are great dogs. -
Yep I get that .But usually the processor will tell you what the minimum batch of sticks or sausage is say 10 lbs min and what fat they are adding (pork, beef) then set a price per pound .I will say those sticks and sausage have made me hungry.
-
Reading this and it sounds like a good screwing. That's a bunch of cash for alot of not deer sticks and sausage after they added the bulk of other meats. My bull elk a few years back dressed out at 399 and wasn't that much .Then you get to the post with all the sticks and sausage and then you just loose it and get hungry.

What kind of setup are you using to keep the pistol steady? I've got a striker in 22-250 also with a pistol scope on top and it seems like the cross hairs are always dancing around. Same with my contender in 223

NM muzzleloader coues
Crazymonkey replied to bowhunt-R's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
Cva has upped the max powder for the paramount and the pro to 115 gr by weight of blackhorn in the 45 cal muzzle break highly suggested. It's plenty punishing without -
We quit using miller's and started using Casey's in flag .Sure do miss Ron in Payson!! Sold the place after his wife passed and went to live closer to his boy in Utah or Colorado.

Looking for recommendations for kid friendly scope for the next giveaway gun.The rifle is a beautiful savage 110 with a adjustable stock in 7-08. BIG THANKS TO RUBBERDUCKIE for the amazing deal on the rifle .It did come with 30mm rings so something with that tube size. Needs to be kid friendly and at a reasonable price so my financial advisor aka (the wife) won't give me crap about the money spent. It will also give me more $$ to figure out a second and third prize. Maybe a 20 gauge for second and a pair of binos for third depending on my cost. I know several people have wanted to donate and I've tried to set up a zelle or PayPal account but every time I do it seems some one gets into my accounts so I still don't do either. If you'd like to donate you can pm me . Thanks

Scope recommendations for next year's giveaway gun.
Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in The Campfire
That's a good deal for sure. The wife has me back on spending lock down. After getting the rifle from rubberduckie .A savage 7-08 110 with the adjustable wood stock. Then it was a 20 gauge shotgun ,binos with a harness, and a 22 single action pistol all for the kids giveaway. Then there was the proof barrel for my 280ai build .She wants me to give her a break. I'll have a scope for sure for the gun and I'll start the sign up for the giveaway at the first of the year and let it run till probably the end of August but the end date will be determined by the kids hunt dates.I want to insure the winners have enough time to get use to there prizes before hunting starts -
I was out yesterday shooting my 7-08 and finally was able to chronograph my rounds .It's with a magneto speed .What a pain in the butt with a suppressor on to get it all lined up and reading .But I seem to be shooting slower than it did in the summer. It shot 3034 in the summer (lab radar ) verified Thanks Lance for letting me shoot for data. Yesterday it was 2903 the SD was 9 and the es was 22 for the 5 shot string .The group opened up from all touching to .766 that might be just me . Load is 45.6gr r17 lapua brass and barns ttsx 140gr with federal 215 primer. I need to shoot a copper bullet to hunt California with my dad till he moves to a free state. Any powder ideas for my bullet combo. The gun is a interarms action ( mauser) with a brux 26 inch barrel all work was done by Keith at Phoenix custom rifles.
