My daughter isn't in to hunting 😕 . So I've gotten to help friends on several youth hunts . Glass and chase bugles. Usually the cows are still close to the bulls . There are alot of eyes looking then as the cows are usually bunched up . Take your time and setup for a shot . Bogg death grip is a great way to keep them steady. It's always good to just have fun . Some of the best times in the woods for me were just helping on these kids hunts. If all else you can always sit a blind on a water source everything has to have water . Sometimes it's easier for the restless and tired kids . They can sit and rest for awhile.

Non gun joker prices are from around 400 to 600 depending on condition. I got the last one for 15 minutes of work on a buddies old Toyota truck with a manifold leak. Fixed the leak and got the gun .They were about 99 bucks back then . 140 for the paratroopers model that took standard AK mags and had the shorter barrel.

Don't know why the wife wants one but I had a type 56 sks . Not a mark on it . I also sold my Egyptian maddi ak47 at the same time . It sat in the safe for 10 years . Wish I had that one back but I don't see myself spending what they go for now on another. Thought I did good selling for 760 when I did . Only to see prices go thru the roof.

Don't want to be insulting but man that's seen some rough times. Tho it is a sks and probably will shoot just about anything I'm looking for one in better shape. Remember it's for the wife and the gun I sold was almost flawless.

Any damage to the end of stock? ( cut down,screw holes buggered) making it impossible to re- mount a recoil pad.

Just a piece of advice . If you use boat gear check the line and make sure it's still good . The sun will cause the line to get brittle over time and nothing says old line like the sound of popcorn on a boat . Cut about 1 foot of line off and tie a simple overhand knot and give it a hard pull if the line snaps its old. Same goes when you go to re spool your reels . The line sits out at most shops and is exposed to the elements.

Cva has a foam cleaner . I usually put a old ear plug in one end of the barrel and let it work for 20 to 30 minutes . Then you can run brush and patches. There are alot of black powder only cleaners . The tc brand bore lube is good . It looks like toothpaste and smells good. Remember no standard gun cleaners as most will foul the barrel and cause miss fires.

I'm going to texas to hunt pigs the first week of June and was looking into different options to rent . Anyone have any experience with thermal or night vision . I really don't want to remove my scopes so something that would work in tandem with my glass . I'm planning on bringing my ar 15,ar10 ,and 7-08 . Thanks

Don't know on the avet as I had a pen 30 w . For rods you can't go wrong with a seeker rod . There up there in price but definitely worth the price.

Shot a javalina with my 7-08 running ttsx barns 140s at 10 feet and blew the rear quarters apart .In one side shattered every bone and out the other.

Use to do alot of fishing when I lived in CA. Most boats were running Penn reels usually 113 or larger . Blues will beat you up with out good gear . The longfin off the 55 freeway in orange use to rent good gear. It's addictive once you get into some bigger fish and real easy to spend for good gear .if your going to make regular trips your probably going to need a two speed reel atleast a 30wide . It's always nice to have a extra gear and a rod you can put it to the big boys.

Powder will make a difference in what you can clean with. Pyrodex and most pellets are corrosive and need blackpowder only cleaning products. If your running blackhorn you can use your normal gun cleaning stuff as it's not corrosive and the powder will not get fouled with the little bit of oil on a patch you'd run at the end .

For a 10 -22 I have a primary arms fixed power scope I took off a 22 and replaced with a simple red dot . If your look for a scope it's for sale cheep . I went red dot for my kid who has trouble with scopes being right handed but left eye dominant .Holosun are great for the money but I put a sightmark on for $99 . Here's a picture of scope if your interested had it up for $50 bucks.

If you get a big igloo cooler you can double insulate the cooler . There is you tube info on it . I used the pink hard foam board from home depot about 25 bucks a sheet . Cut it to fit top ,bottom and four sides . Shot a pig in California and it was on ice in the cooler for a week no problem. Use a trash bag to bag and tie off the ice so you keep the water off the meat and your good.

Having contenders in pistol and rifle and encore also they offer some good and some bad . Good is they can be switched to different calibers and they can be light for size . But bad is they aren't super safe for kids . The hammer thing and also single shot only . You'd be way better with a bolt action and a stock you can adjust for size in a caliber that will fit the range of animals you wish to hunt. Most kids can handle 243,7-08,or 308 with a break on them . Those will take about anything you'd probably hunt at a reasonable distance .

When you sign up for the online course do you get a certificate of completion when your done? I've gotten a few people that have wanted to put there kids in for the youth giveaway and want to set some kind of standard so I can get them in for the giveaway. As I understand that it's still tough to get in for field days. Thanks for your input. Also thanks to all that do the hunters safety classes .
