Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Man I can't say enough about Eric and the guys at Axis works !! Awesome work on the kids giveaway guns . Without a doubt the best place to get a muzzle break installed. Thanks again for donating the break work for the kids guns. -
Gear recommendations for Coues deer muzzleloader hunting in New Mexico?
Crazymonkey replied to geniejeniffer's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Yep no scopes on muzzleloaders . So iron sights or best option is a peep sight . Blackhorn 209 is expensive but it's the best powder option . It's non corrosive unlike most pellets. Muzzle- loaders.com has a good selection and fair price on guns . -
Someone sure got the deal of a lifetime on that python!!

Second for archery headquarters. I did buy my mathews at bear mtn due to my long draw . But archery headquarters has been great .

Eric from Axis Works just called and said the guns are ready for pickup. I'll have pictures up when I go get them. Thanks again Eric and the Axis Works team for your generosity and amazing work!! -
Russ is a good guy and does use or find a person that could use the things he picks up on here.

The scope still would hold zero but I had already put the nikon on with all new rings and bases . I think it went on the cva muzzleloader I sold on here a older optima I sold for what I paid for it so it was probably $80 bucks or so.

Some history on the gun . I bought it from my boss at the time who gave up on hunting . He only got 1 deer tag and took his son with . Trying to cross a creek he dropped the gun hard and dented the bell on the scope. It split the stock from the tang thru the butt and cracked the rings and bases. I took it to Dale Medders and had the stock fixed ,bedded and recoil pad done . Then it went to Wright armory for the break they screwed up and put the front sight back on . The two filled holes. It's been on one juniors deer hunt my buddies granddaughter took a doe with it . And my other buddies wife's first elk hunt she took a cow and her daughter- in law used it also for cow elk and took a cow.The ranger line was the cheap line of the 70s and was built on the same action just not quite as refined . It has a plane Jane soft wood stock and was meant to be compared to the basic rem 700.

It's a 30-06

I paid $400 for the gun a $100to fix the stock another $100 to bed the action $280 for the break work plus the scope . Then donated it . Let me know if your looking to sell it . I'll buy it back . The ranger models were made in the 70s. Chris

Anything I should know before buying a trager?
Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in The Campfire
Looked at the camp chef woodwind pro36 today side by side with a trager and the camp chef is definitely a better built grill. Need to still look at the rectec and Yoder . I'm in no rush so I'm really looking at all 3 grills and what they have to offer -
Anyone wanting the second rv gate just let me know I'm in gilbert off power and ray. For anyone wanting the second gate I'll even deliver it in the Phoenix / gilbert area for a simple donation to the youth giveaway. Will have to be a Saturday or Sunday delivery.

Thank you to Andyyy from cwt for the $50. Donation to the youth giveaway. I'll put it to good use . Towards some packs or ammo or something. I'll put it up when I do find something cool for the kids. Thanks again! -
He's got a coues tag for that unit. Elk,anelope, turkey ,and sometimes a mule deer I can usually find where we usually hunt . Not so much on the coues tho.

Anything I should know before buying a trager?
Crazymonkey replied to Crazymonkey's topic in The Campfire
Going to check out a camp chief woodwind pro 34 with the side kick . It seems to check all the boxes . It has a fire box ash dump, and a pellet hopper dump . With the side kick I could sear or run as a flat top. Next is the rectec it seems to be another with great reviews . It might need some options to make it perfect. It doesn't have all the extra dump features of the camp chief. And last is a Yoder . I really would have thought the trager was the best option as they sell the crap outa them but they seem to have lots of issues 😕 .I'm definitely going to check these 3 out and go from there . -
My buddy is building a 338-06 if it ever gets done. It's been called the poor man's magnum. His build is north of a year at the gunsmith. He wouldn't listen to me and take it to Phoenix custom or axis works . He went to magnum Mike's and is sorry he did . I figure I'll get my stock from manners and have axis works complete my rifle before his is done.

So much for a easy change . Looks like I'll need to check out the BBQ store by the house and see what they have that's been recommended by you guys and go from there. Lots of things I would not have known but now I need to research before making a decision . -
Rock salt loads work great .!

Sportsmans had a 3 pack of cameras for a hundred bucks . Comes with batteries and SD cards . Stealth cam 16 Meg. I ordered 2 of the 3 packs and sent them to my dad's buddy in Texas.
