New Mexico Antelope Assignment
Arizona Griz replied to Hunterdan's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I looked it up on the website. It is in Unit 33. There are also two Ranch Only landowner tags. I don't think there is a way of know how many public hunters are assigned to it. If it is a 1:1 ratio then there could be 4 hunters hunting the ranch. -
New Mexico Antelope Assignment
Arizona Griz replied to Hunterdan's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
According to the G&F website you are not supposed to scout the ranch until 2 days before the hunt. Sure doesn't give you much time. I would try to continue contacting the rancher and see if he will allow you to come a little earlier to check it out (I don't know if this is a violation or not). Also ask him if he has any landowner tags. This will give you an idea of what your competition is. I was also east of Roswell heading to Lovington this year and didn't see very many from the highway. -
I know they used to have an antelope hunt there many, many years ago.

New Mexico Antelope Assignment

I don't know any ranch names but I have made 2 trips thru Roswell this year. I saw lots of antelope along the highway north of Roswell on the way to Vaughn. -
Antelope-Anyone know this Ranch?
Arizona Griz replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Well I guess you have everything. Dont' forget the 2 stamps. The ranch looks like it is in Unit 33. It is not very big, is Unit Wide, and only has one voucher. It would have been much better to have gotten a larger ranch and been RO. Good luck. -
How interesting. I sure don't remember that. 20 years ago the G&F had very little info on Unit 21 let alone 20B to have a Coues hunt there.

Can an Archery Elk permit be converted?
Arizona Griz replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I stand corrected. I saw that Tony but I couldn't make my mind believe it. Anyways I hope the G&F helps the person out. -
Can an Archery Elk permit be converted?
Arizona Griz replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I hope your friend can work something out with the G&F. On another note I didn't think you could ever use a cross-bow duirng an archery hunt no matter what the circumstances were. -
That sure is not first come first served. Just another thing to go wrong. Hopefully someday they will stick to what they print in the regulations like they used to.

I don't know about Rhino but I am happy with my Line-X. You just might want to check them out. I got it done in Chandler. -
A TRUE COUES DEER HUNTER
Arizona Griz replied to josh's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I know the hunter and he does get his Coues deer. The last four years he has taken one with a bow and they all scored close to 100. -
Found out what ranch i will be hunting for pronghorn!
Arizona Griz replied to TLH's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I have a friend of mine who is a New Mexico resident who drew a ranch tag NE of Carrizozo just south of Corona. He has yet to contact the rancher so he really doesn't know what to expect. Only time will tell. Good luck to your wife on her hunt. -
Very nice mount and long tined buck.

Well, I personally don't believe that the Grey wolf is instinct. I would like to believe that a few occur in Mexico. No matter, eveyone better get used to it, those particular animals are here to stay whether you like it or not.

Very nice, I hope I can find one in October.
