Pics of the Pups
Arizona Griz replied to Sir Buckwheat's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I am going to try it myself. If she is just half as birdy as the one I just had to put down recently I will be happy. I am getting the dog more for a family pet but I will definitey give the training a whirl. What's your pros and cons on having the dew claws removed right after birth? I have heard all the way from "not being a problem, to creating havoc with getting them snagged on brush, to even getting torn almost off." -

I am sure anxious to get the puppy. They won't be ready to go until May or June of next year and are out of northern Wisconsin. They are of the "Classic" type so I fully expect her to get a lot of crud in her coat. -
Those are some beautiful Mule bucks. Congratulations to all of you.

seeking help on AZ-22N late hunt for bull elk
Arizona Griz replied to desertyankee's topic in Elk Hunting
Are you for real? Like I said above, he can't PM yet. Unit 22N is such a small area and there are to many tags given out anyways. Do your really think there are going to be any "secret" spots. Get real here. -
I officially measured an archery bear back in '04 at 22 2/16" taken from Arizona. It ended up getting second place for the P&Y two year recording period. It was a toad. They are few and far between. They are scored the same way for rifle and archery. http://www.pope-young.org/minimum-scores_charts.asp http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/bc...s&type=Bear

Your lucky to have so many different types of game birds in Utah. We only have quail a few chuckars and grouse. I am getting an English Setter pup in the spring and hopefully someday will get her to point like yours. -

There's nothing wrong with a little name dropping. At least it shows that you are somewhat familar, whether on paper or been in the field a little, with the area. With your minimal posts you can't PM anyone either. There will be lots of people and the weather can turn south in a heart beat. Good luck on your hunt. -

Cool pictures of the pointing dogs especially the one where the dog is honoring the other. -
I guess I had better go throw mine away. Not. Really not sure what the problem is here but I have used mine (700 ADL) since 1973 and have yet to have a problem with it.

I am not sure what you mean by a Non-typical "Typical" Frame. That is not terminology used by measurer's. If you want to understand how B&C and P&Y measure you just might want to get ahold of their measuring books. It is all explained in them.

Bird Hunting
Arizona Griz replied to bkgsps's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I got a Setter pup coming in the Spring. Hopefully next fall I can take her out and see how birdy she is. If anything we will have fun no matter what. -
Wish that was the case but that is not true. Some can only measure particular animals. Kind of stupid but that's the way it is.

Cool spotted skunk. I have yet to see one. I did have a striped skunk for a pet for about 8 years back in the '60's. They were legal back then.

Natl. Geographic vs. Garmin MapSource TOPO!
Arizona Griz replied to standman's topic in GPS and Maps
They are not the same map and are based off of different formats. They both are pretty accurate but if you are using a Garmin GPS you can only use MapSource based maps. GPSfiledepot.com offers a more detailed (topo lines only) map than both of them and it is a free download. You need to have MapSource already on your computer to use it though. It is around a 20K map. -
Great story and hunt. Sorry your wife didn't get one but sounds like she had a good time. And kudos to Mullins for helping you.

I am looking for a female English Setter puppy. If anyone knows of some for sale or even a breeder here in Arizona, I have already checked with a couple, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
-
I have a message into Paul already. Thanks. I talked to Bob yesterday. He doesn't have any right now but maybe by the end of the year. I did ask him to call me when he does just in case I haven't found one by then. Thanks for the info guys.

GPS MAPS for Unit 31?
Arizona Griz replied to AZ FSJ'r's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I am pretty sure you will need some sort of MapSource product on your computer to be able to utilize any maps on gpsfiledepot. -
Congratulations, great bear.

Cool pictures. Awsome gun, the '95 Winchester.

The state site is awful at best. Way to slow. Try this one. I think you will find it much better. http://www.geocommunicator.gov/blmMap/Map.jsp?MAP=LAND

Happy birthday Clay. Did you and your dad draw THAT archery elk hunt again?
