Ernesto: I cant post the pics because I believe Ryan is running an article in Muley Crazy on this deer. CB: I thought both Amanda and Scott Adams were hunting for coues so I am looking forward to their pictures. I didnt get to go chase them, we worked on getting the client his buck until the night before we left. I saw a couple smaller coues and they spotted a big buck around 115 that I wanted to try for but getting the muley took to long. Still had a great time and look forward to later this year going again.........Allen........

Congrats Amanda. The pictures and story are really great.......sounds like you busted your butt.........Allen........

I just got back last night from Hermosillo and had a fantastic time. I didnt get to get out hunting because it took us till the last night to find a big enough buck for the client. He shot a great 33" outside spread 19" buck. As for your questions, I think from here and through the future, websites or clubs like this one will really help reduce problems for hunters traveling out of state and out of country. I worked this year for Desert Trophy Hunts and the outfitter was Drummond Lindsey. The camps all had good cooks, the property was in good shape and not over hunted. My friend Duwane Adams who is an outfitter, Arizona Big Game Hunts runs a good/honest operation down there, Ojo Caliente runs a reputable operation and there are others that are listed here. I really think this computer networking will help the info gathering steps so we dont get stuck in the unfortunate bind you just experienced. If you can still go this month, there is an opportunity for you to fill your slam out (I just finished my slam last year....what a feeling...........) send me a note if you want more info ........my email is environmentalfiltration@msn.com.............Allen Taylor...............

Not yet Jason, but hope to get by Don's before I leave for Mexico this friday. Did you see the 36b buck I had Kilowatt post on MM? It is a monster buck like this one above. Take care...........I am pretty sure the 36B post is a guided buck unlike the above monster. I am sure those boys learned the right way to kill big bucks like the above by their Dad: Lark Hubbard. .......................Allen........... What a monster........................

AZGuide: You used to say it now you know it. "Everybody misses". I said that last year and this year. Hope you can get close to him during bow season. I have a question tho, have they slowed down a bit rutting for you in late January for a better planned kill with a bow or is it best opportunity with a bow in the earlier season? Sorry about your miss, hope I dont later this month in MX. p.s. glad you found this website hunting board............. take care.............Allen Taylor.........

This may be where I learn something.......I have always thought a rutting buck has alot of adrenaline, testosterone and other things going on with his musky stinky body at that time of year that would make him taste stronger and not as good as other times of the year............I am curious to here Amanda's biologist thoughts and everyone else...............thanks, .......Allen..............

I am on pins and needles. I cant wait till this next work week is over and I leave. Today I am cleaning the truck out so there is not a shell left so I dont have any problems down there. The rut should be going full swing and I hope I get some great pictures....................Allen.........

CB: Duwane's camp shot some real nice bucks and missed a couple monsters. I believe they got a couple 110's and a couple other over 100 and missed on a 120 and 115. He left this a.m. for Mexico for January.......I know they saw lots and lots of bucks.......Allen......... -

Scott: the suspense will kill us. Finish the story with a great picture of this buck. Sorry about the ankle I know it was hurting up on the Kaibab.....we are getting older, maybe you need some geriatric medicine.............LOL..........Allen............... -
I use Weller's Wildlife Studio and they take 8 - 12 months. The response from the AZ Taxidermist Association is very helpful but I think he mistyped something. You should absolutely be able to ask how much and how long, those are important to everyone. I think what he means is not expect cheap & fast to go hand in hand with quality work. Expect to pay a fair price for a trophy you want to last a life time, and this art will take time to do it right. Any good taxidermist should be busy and of course their busiest time is after the capes get back, assembling all the mounts. good rule of thumb for a good AZ coues taxidermist should be around 500.00 and take about 1 year.......................Allen..........

I will give Tim Tanner a call and see if we can get the picture. Amanda, if you talk to Tim, get the picture emailed so you can post it. Cant wait to see this one............Duwane Adams' client missed a 130 & a 115 this past week here in AZ............would love to see something that big in Mexico, especially if I come home with it............LOL...........Thanks Jason for the heads up........................Allen.........

Hunting the rut. Does should breed every year and you should glass your butt off. If you find does late in December there should be bucks around. I dont know the ration of bucks to does but 36b has alot of deer and as of a couple days ago there were still bucks bachelor grouped up across the street from your unit so you will still see more than one buck together. Dont know if I answered any of your questions, but you just need to get up high and glass. The rut is just kicking in for some units which makes the deer move a bit more than earlier in the seasons..........best of luck..........Allen...........

Jason, thanks for faxing me the article. This is the same "Bill" I have spoken to a couple times. He makes all kinds of antler art and had a shop up in pinetop/showlow area. He knows his stuff. The pictures didnt come out over the fax so I need to get a copy of the magazine article. I tried the website but they didnt have the article. Thanks again............Allen........ -

Bowhunter Magazine Coues Article
coueshunter replied to Jason's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Jason, I would be interested in the article. my fax is 602-454-2148......Does Jim have a guy named Bill out of Lakeside guiding him on the hunt? There is a local guy up there in Lakeside who helped Gary Bogner to a bow kill on coues and bill told me Jim Vannorman was hooking up with him as well so I am curious...........Allen........I cant remember bills last name right now....... -
nice looking bucks.. I bet you were jazzed to get the two down. Tell us the story...........Allen......
