    WHITETAIL/ MULEY HIBRID

To my knowledge there is no seperate catagorey because it is a Hybrid. Sounds like a nice buck. I have shot a few muley/blacktail crosses that are nice bucks but because of the genetic cross couldnt be recognized as either blacktail or muley......

Welcome Alan. I like your name but you spell it wrong..........LOL...........I live in Mesa, AZ and have a air filter company that provides filters for every type of application like house filters all the way up to clean room or hospital surgery room filters...............welcome to this great site.........Allen Taylor.....
  3. The muley tags went for 123,000 and 126,000 right in that range and the coues was 15 or 16,000. Ryan Hatch had a client on the phone that bought one of the muley tags. I think a big problem with not getting enough people to bid on some of the items like the Mexico muley hunt and the Blitz for the coues hunt is the sound situation. So many people are talking and the anouncer isnt heard that well. Maybe there is a different room at the fairgrounds we could have it in next year. I think the banquet was great and it was great to meet all the CW people and MM people but I was real surprised some of the auction stuff didnt sell for more money. Still a great event, thanks Amanda...........Allen.......

    What unit to apply for?

I grew up in Olympia and hunted another under-appreciated deer, the blacktail and it was tough in the thick brush. I started coues hunting three years ago and it is a completely different type of hunting and I love it. Glassing and the desert climate is great. Hope everyone draws what they are looking for............Allen........

    What unit to apply for?

Couesbitten, like Ernesto said, let us know what unit you decide on and one of us can help out. Also being a WA native I bet there is some law requiring me to help you out.........LOL.............I grew up in Olympia where abouts are you located?..................Allen.............

    Flushing -vs- Glassing

As a last resort I would push or jump them after having spotted them with bino's. I grew up hunting blacktail in western washington and all we did was jump deer and throw the lead. I know now it is much more productive to find them then stalk them hopefully without them knowing it and kill them standing or walking. Plus you are maximizing your time looking over alot more area glassing then pushing through a thicket........just my 2 cents........Allen.....

I am fortunate enough to have been invited down to Mexico to help with Drummond Lindsay's camp in Mexico. I am so pumped.........After the two clients are taken care of, then I might get to sneak off and chase a monster for myself.........I cant wait to go, I will be down there from Jan 10 - 17th........My wife is a real understanding woman for letting me be gone once again.........................ye haw......................Allen........

    Rut vs post Rut Movement

During the rut, the bucks are moving moving moving to find estrus does. Their habits and routines are completely out of wack at this time and you find them where you find them and it isnt necessarily in their normal "home territory". I am not any expert but like muley's, they will travel long distances looking for hot does so preseason scouting is when you find their home range but during the rut, the bucks you see could have traveled 5 miles to get to the hot does.........just my opinion.......Allen........

    Hi all

Greenleaf, welcome. You dont know yet but this is the site for actual knowledge and not just computer mumbo jumbo. Most of the people on here are not weekend hunters but avid addicts. You can find out more about coues here then anywhere else. The website owner Amanda is a biologist who spent alot of years at the San Carlos Indian res where she worked directly with coues deer, she is an avid hunter and has alot of fantastic info you cant get anywhere else. Most of the people who post here are true coues hunters and speak from experience and not just speculation. I am somewhat new to coues hunting 3yrs old and went through the process of trying to find more on coues and until this website poped up, it was real hard finding info. I bought Jack O'connor books with references to coues, looked in old magazines, called Duwane Adams millions of times and did what I could. Here you can talk to outfitters and hunters and get info faster and more specific. Again, welcome and enjoy........Allen Taylor............

    HUGE SHED.......

I told you guys it would be worth the wait. The most info I can give is this is a Mexico shed found a couple weeks ago. It is last years shed so the buck should still be alive. The ranch it was found on did not have any coues hunters to my knowledge this year. If I heard correctly the buck would score around 155 with a matching side and a 16" spread. What blows me away is the actual loss of inches on the broken points. It is hard to see but this shed is missing drop tines that are broken off. It looks like a caribou shovel it is so palmated. Desert Trophy Hunts booked this hunter who is holding the shed. Drummond Lindsey owns desert trophy hunts and they had a record year. Their average Muley buck this year was at 190.6 and the average spread was 29.8. I believe they shot 8 muleys. He sent me this coues shed picture and I am dying to go back down there after this buck......................hope you liked the picture and thanks Amanda for posting it.............Allen.........

    HUGE SHED.......

O.K. I feel your pain but must get the green light or what little credibility/trust I have built up with a few people............LOL...........will go down the drain. I just a few seconds ago placed another call and was told that I will be called back in the morning hopefully with a green light. This will all be worth the wait...................Allen.........

Win a Coues Hunt in Mexico!

This is a fantastic banquet where there is alot of stuff raffled off and you get to see how much the coues and muley governors tags go for. This blitz raffle for the mexico hunt will be fantastic. This banquet is the annual fundraiser for Arizona Deer Association and all the proceeds go into wildlife enhancement not in any salaried persons pocket...........Hope to see alot of you at the banquet...........Thanks Amanda for all your hard work...........Allen.............
  15. USO has used a good tactic and may well win with this state, but all us hunters resident and non-resident alike will lose because the state will jack the tag fees up. I got to see how "qualified" the uso guides were on a couple clients they had up on the Kaibab this past season. The guides hadnt been up there for quite a few years, hadnt scouted this year and showed up the last 4 days of the hunt. The clients deserved alot better and didnt get it. Duwane Adams had two of USO clients that cancelled on USO and signed up with Duwane because of some of the issues USO brought up after they paid for their hunt. I for one dont trust their operation, it seems they want to book as many clients regardless. The clients end up getting the short end of the stick...............Allen...........

Tom, I voted for you too........as for the tripod/head, Amanda has them here on CW they are made by Jim White who is an avid hunter and knows his stuff. Actually Duwane Adams uses the velbon tripod from Jim White, it is sturdy and tough.........I used the head and his adapter in Mexico this year and the adapter Jim makes is alot better than the Swarovski one and it is lighter. I have a couple slik tripods but now use the Velbon Efl4, it is really a good tripod and you wont have to sell your house to buy it..........Allen Taylor.......

    New email virus

You are right, the only thing I would add is dont even open one from someone you know, just hit reply and ask the person if they actually sent it to you. I just read a bunch of stuff on this today and the virus affects emails even if you dont send one, your name could be attached to one sent to one of your buddy's and when they open it, it affects your system. practice safe computers, wear rubber gloves................LOL................Allen..............

    Deer Sightings

Chris, a few years back I hunted unit 23 up cherry creek road and seeing 5-10 was a great day, the densities seem lower. Hunting down south I usually see around 15-20 a day during the early hunts. I havent had a late tag but my friend was out last weekend and saw around 20-30 a day...........Allen........

Scott: sorry to hear about that, maybe this coming season you will get there. I spoke with Duwane yesterday and his group got something like 10 coues over 100" and some real big muleys......Crazy: how's it going? This will be a long wait till next season.............AT......
