    ADA Banquet

Jim, I bet the deer phone number or on the ADA website azdeer.org (I believe) is probably the best bet. I hope alot of coueswhitetail members and MonsterMuley members show up. This will be another great fundraiser for AZ wildlife.......Allen Taylor......

Landowner Tags being discussed this week.

It is not worth figuring out who started this so much as it is to SQUASH it. There is a meeting tonight and one of our AZGFD reps will be there and some (hopefully alot of hunters) will be present to express our opinions.....This ranching for wildlife will end as we know it, quality hunting opportunities in the state of AZ. Dont be fooled, read the proposal like a couple others have said. Make your voice heard......Allen.....

Landowner Tags being discussed this week.

A guy will be able to buy a permit and draw one as well. This whole deal stinks and if anyone here is really concerned about AZ wildlife, he/she will make their voices heard. This proposal is not about my grandpa's ranch being over grazed or screwed up by elk/deer etc....its about money.........Allen Taylor.......

    USO: Lawyer letter to AZGF

For what its worth, our own AZGFD and commissioners should be accountable for alot of the mess we are in as well as figuring a way out of it. They took our online surveys and spoke with us the public in meetings and then made decisions completely against what we asked them to do. They did this a few years ago by not negotiating with the 10% cap and now they are sitting idly by hoping the problem goes away. I have no faith in our commissioners or management at AZGFD.......Please everyone join the "Arizona Hunters who care" and get on their email chain. They are very pro-active like Arizona Deer Association and they can organize and help all of us hunters resident and non-resident alike to stop this train before it blankets the whole western united states.......Allen.....

    Hunting Equipment

I have only went twice but really havent had any problems with the Mexican side of the deal, our own united states agencies are more of a concern. I am going on the 15th of Jan. and have called USFW to make sure there are no new regulations. It seems like Mexico and the U.S. have made it easier and more straight forward so there should be less problems for people this year.......thanks......Allen......

    Coues DVD

Amanda has a couple good ones on here. The El hacon ranch video is pretty good and of course western whitetail I & II by the McClenndon's are great. I bought a video called the Grand Slam of Deer that has a few coues hunts on it. It was hard to find very many coues video's......best of luck.....Allen.....

    MEXICO COUSE HUNTING

There is great hunting there. As for the El Hacon, I believe that is the outfitter David Miller used on the video Amanda sells here. I have a couple tags for Sonora left for this year if you still want to go........Allen Taylor.......environmentalfiltration@msn.com....602-454-2146

    36A in December

Peterson: there is a great coues book out by Duwane Adams that you can buy here or at popular sports, or at wide world of maps. The book outlines each AZ unit and gives tips on where to start. I am clueless on this unit but hopefully with the book and some input from others you will get a start........Allen....

    .257 WBY MAG

I have a .257 wby mag and love it. I wont get into all the squabble, just letting you know the caliber with a 115 ballistic tip works fine for me. p.s. you can buy the gun from walmart in the Mark v for around 725.00. The only thing I would do different is buy the super big game master because that stock is so much lighter than the regular kevlar Mark V stock........Allen.......

    "Ranching for Wildlife"

This is a very very real threat and we all need to do like Rembrandt suggests and contact Kyle/McCain and ensure that our voices are heard. After the USO situation we cannot sit back and assume anything, we must scream/yell/shout whatever to make sure we are heard over and over again. If anyone doesnt believe that the AZGFD is political, then you are fooling yourself. Almost everything in life is political in one way or another, so make your political voices heard to the appropriate people or landowner tags will be a reality as early as next year....Allen.....

    Just developed October pictures...

congrats to both of you. You will have the fever like I got a couple of years ago and this is the best/toughest/greatest deer to hunt. Coues was my last deer to finish the grand slam of deer (all 5 B&C deer Muley,N. whitetail, columbian blacktail, sitka blacktail & coues) coues is the hardest and most enjoyable to hunt. You are sick/diseased/corrupted like the rest of us.........LOL........congrats again and I cant wait to see your pictures...........Allen Taylor........

    PROPOSED LICENSE FEE MEETINGS

If everyone goes to the AZGFD website and sees the legislation being proposed by Reid of Nevada, you will be happy to see a method that can and will bring back states rights to govern their own wildlife. I think if this passes with the support of Kyle and McCain, AZ may be out of the USO problem. If you stay here and bitch and not look at the website and send your responses to our AZ guys, then you will be partly to blame. I am not casting stones, just letting you know that time is of the essesence here. You must contact Kyle and McCain before Nov. 16th and maybe the fee increase crap with AZGFD will be a mute point. Please take the time to see what I am talking about..........thanks........Allen Taylor........

    Barska Optics

I dont know the model but Burris makes an affordable scope in that range that has the extra cross hairs. I have a friend who bought one for around 225.00 and says it is a good scope. I would also look at www.premierreticles.com and see what they charge for the lower end Leupold with the extra crosshairs. I bought the VXIII 4.5 x 14 with cross hairs out to 600 and am really pleased with this scope. It cost around 500.00 and it includes dialing the scope in for your caliber and bullet weight. Takes alot of the guess work out of hold over.......Allen....

    Unit 23 whitetail tag

Around the cherry creek area is a good place to start but be prepared for tons of road hunters. I havent followed the "open wound" issue hear on CW so I will help a bit if you put in your scouting time. 23 was the first unit I hunted coues in and know it isnt the easiest without any help. The lions pound the heck out of the deer and the terrain is a bit rough if you get back in above roosevelt where the deer are. Anyway if you know how to glass, hike back in to a good glassing point above roosevelt and move if you arent seeing anything then you are starting at a good point. I found the deer to be in pockets in 23 unlike some southern units that seem to have tons more deer so dont get too frustrated, move and look some more...........hope this helps a bit..........Allen Taylor.......
