    alaknak or big horn

I have the Bighorn (I think) it is 17x20 with the stove vent, the floor zips out around where the stove goes and it has alot of windows for air movement. I love the tent, it sets up easy and is real roomy. The storage bags are seperate for the poles/tent so it doesnt weigh too much to carry by yourself. Anyway, I like the tent. It will get condensation in it much worse than canvas if its raining, but that is the trade off for a lighter material............Allen..........

    coues articles

Great article Tony. It was funny when Luke told me about the "Deal" he made with Duwane that if he shoots that buck, then he gets to hunt coues deer. Luke has waited a long time to try and draw the Kaibab, now he hopefully will draw a good coues tag since he has a great muley. I sure wish we could have killed that other buck we saw, it was a monster as well...........take care............Allen........
  4. I have an idea. I have saved articles from every magazine/book etc that I can find over the past 8 years on coues deer. Basically all hunt stories from old and new magazines I have torn out and put in a binder. I am wondering if we at CW want to share among ourselves the articles maybe in a photo copy scrap book of all the collective articles everyone has. I would be willing to copy all my stories and send the packet to someone who organizes it and then maybe organizes other peoples stuff and puts together a complete package. What do you guy/gals think? I dont believe we would break copy right laws if this is done correctly................Allen Taylor..........www.environmentalfiltration@msn.com

    coueshunter Pics

I went self guided and just used a boat as a base camp. I believe they classify it as a transporter only where the skipper and deckhand cant do anything but drop you off at various locations. I paid somewhere around 1600.00 to stay on the boat which included food/lodging. I could buy extra tags from the skipper on the boat. We flew into Kodiak and he picked us up the next moorning at the docks. We left Kodiak harbor and went to the around the island to a small island called Uganik. I was there in late November and the bays had frozen over from all the runoff so we were limited to areas. Had a great time but would go earlier next time due to the weather problems we ran into. Tony/Doug, hope you guys shoot some nice bucks and watch out for the bears, they do respond to gun shots and come in on you after you have shot your deer, so keep your eyes open...........Allen.........p.s. take good rain gear like cabela's dry plus or you will be miserable..............

    coueshunter Pics

Thanks Stanley, I will call you and figure out how to post the pictures, one step at a time though, I am doing good just taking the digital picts and getting them on the UMPUTER...........LOL............ Basically I wanted to put up the pictures of my deer that represent the Deer Slam I pursued. The coues deer rounded out my slam. There is my first norther whitetail, first muley, the pics of Travis holding the horns are two columbia blacktail and one small Sitka blacktail. Now I need to upgrade to a big muley (if I ever draw) and a big Sitka. My first and only hunt on Kodiak was great but I didnt see any big deer so I have a longing to go back and get a good one. The antelope is my best from Wyoming............. 75" with a tip broken off fighting.........thanks again for posting the pics stan, I will take more and try posting myself................Allen............

Tony, I need to go buy the magazine. Duwane told me it was coming out and it slipped my mind till now. I will pick it up and read it. It was a great time and I look forward to seeing the story/pics. Weather was a real factor on that hunt........take care.....Allen........

    CW T-shirt stuff

Dan, fantastic picture. Everybody, Dan is a very very talented artist who I have looked at alot of his stuff and bought some things that are special to me. I think its neat to have guys like Rembrandt (Mike Fabritz) and Apache7mm (Dan Juan) who not only are great artists but also love the outdoors and hunt like the rest of us. I think its a talent I would love to have but am stuck with only being able to do stick figures but my hat is off to these talented people, thanks for being part of this forum...........

    unit 23

There are much more informed guys about 23 than me, but a good general area to start could be cherry creek road. There is alot of area throughout and there are alot of roads branching off cherry creek road that can get you into some good areas. Up on top is pretty good to look around and figure out the area............Allen..........

Sports Optics Demos and Used Deals

Everybody, I have spoken with Doug and this outfit is reputable and has fantastic prices. Many times the price includes shipping and they are authorized dealers. Doug is a hunter and understands this market is much different than the "birder" market..........check out their website and then email Doug for a quote. He is working with Amanda and can help out CW while giving us better prices than listed on the webpage..............Allen Taylor............

    wyoming antelope

casey, I have done this a couple of times and you can do it self guided depending on your expectations. There is alot of public land and alot of antelope. The muley's are all over as well but you need to work real hard for a good buck. An average 4 point muley and a decent 14" antelope all in one trip is very realistic self guided. Figure out what area of the state you want to hunt, call the game manager, call the chamber of commerce in the closest city and get a list of "Landowner sponsors" that charge a small fee to trespass on their land to hunt. I have paid around 300.00 for trespass fees to hunt both deer and antelope combined. Make sure and do your research so you dont hunt land that has been overhunted...........call the game manager and make him a friend, they can clue you in on who to call for private land access and what size of animals to expect....................Allen............

    Kaibab on fire!

Kevin, you are right on. If non-native species come back in and the deer dont eat that forage, then the fire may not be a good thing. Hopefully AZGFD has learned from the Bridger situation............Allen.......

What do Coues do in the Spring?

Jim, I have found alot of sheds on flats between ridges. dont know if their behavior is different between shedding time and others, but I find my sheds right around the same "home territory" the buck lives in and seem to find more in flats than on the hill sides............Allen.......

    wall tent

I just picked up a 10x12 canvas wall tent with poles at an estate sale. I have taken it out in my backyard to look it over and it has no holes, has a floor and the tent poles that came with it. There arent any stakes with it. It looks real nice but will need sturdier poles, the ones with it are aluminum and look too thin to me. Let me know if anyone is interested, I already bought my hunting tent a couple years back, just picked this one up to re-sell. Asking 250.00 emal me here or at environmentalfiltration@msn.com if your interested...........Allen Taylor.........

    Coues mount?

That buck would score around 115 as a guesstimate. Dont know if its a coues, but guesstimating 5 inch eye guards 14" spread, that is a great looking buck..........Allen........

    wall tent

AZguide has been too busy to get over and look at the tent and I havent heard from him in a couple days so I guess its open to anyone else. I kinda have been holding out for a CW member to get this instead of MonsterMuley so I have held off on responding to those guys but I need to sell this so whoever wants it, give me a call or email me. 602-454-2146...............environmentalfiltration@msn.com.............Allen Taylor...
