Amanda, I will be going 3 total people............Allen......... -
Fantastic job...........that is what its all about, teaching the kids to carry on the tradition.........great job to you guys..............Allen Taylor......

You might want to go to Premier Reticles web site and see what they have. I bought a Leupold VXIII from them and they put in their reticle system, calibrated the scope for my caliber/bullet weight/altitude and I have dots out to 600 yards. It takes the guess work out of turning the turretts..........Allen...........

Check out the new tripler from Jim White!
coueshunter replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Optics and tripods
Casey, I tried two swaro doublers on my 15's and it didnt work, the eyepieces were to far apart after putting the doublers on. Maybe Jim W can try this at his house and give us a run down on what happened and if the triplers are too far apart. I just know that even with the bino's in the closed position when I put two doublers on my swaro's, I couldnt make it work..........Allen........ -
I really like to make journals of each hunt. I started about 7 years ago and write down the hunt, collect samples of grass/flowers etc and do a few sketches. I keep them in leather binders and have a memento of each hunt to go back and look at. Great stuff...............Allen...........

Fantastic, glad you had such a great year. Great buck with your bow yesterday..........congratulations................Allen.............

I have caught alot on crickets and grasshoppers. I use a large needle, thread a small piece of cork on my line, then tie the small #8 trout hook on. The cork adds weight helping you cast and of course it floats your bait so you dont snag as easily. Also on deeper holes you can put a split shot on the line, slide the cork up higher and cover more water down deep. Anyway, hope you catch alot...........Allen........

I have just spent some time with the Pentax Gameseeker scope 3x9 50mm. I didnt expect to be impressed, but was. The scope seems well built, has good clarity and has the reticles for long distance shooting similar to Leupolds B&C reticle. Especially considering the price of under $150.00, I cant see how you can go wrong. I currently have a Leupold with a Premier reticle installed in it, but wouldnt hesitate to try this scope out on my next gun. I think overall price/quality this is a great bargain...........Allen Taylor...........p.s. this scope was sent to me by Doug at camerland..............

Product Review-Pentax Gameseeker scope
coueshunter replied to coueshunter's topic in Optics and tripods
I didnt mount this scope, it was sent to me to look at and I assumed that if I went out and bought mounts (which I wasnt going to do) I would scratch up the scope. I did a physical/visual inspection and since I already have a Leupold VXIII with a custom Premier reticle, on a Weatherby .257mag matte finish, I compared this scope to my existing scope (visually). I cannot speak to its ability to handle magnums etc........ Allen......... -
Great buck Ernesto........those eye guards are fantastic...............congratulations.................Allen........

Whats In A Name
coueshunter replied to GameHauler's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I picked mine because I think coues are the hardest of all deer to hunt, so if I can be a decent coueshunter, that is a respectable thing to be.........Allen........ -
Great bucks Keven..........glad your hunt went so well...........p.s. that old ranch house looks familiar.........is this Jose' Morales ranch in Agua Prieta?..........congrats..........Allen........

That is a monster. I assume you are/were working on your deer slam and the coues is one of the additions. Either way, that is a monster buck, congrats...........Allen Taylor.............

I got rid of the bogen/manfrotto head because of the weight and have been using the Jim White head for 4 years. It has been the best for me so far. It is silky smooth and pans very well. I shoot from it as well, just tilt the head up so the handle cradles your gun............Allen Taylor.............

Coues Outfitter list
coueshunter replied to blaserman's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I did this research about 7 years ago. I put the time into internet searching, magazine searching, telephone calls etc etc. to find out not just names of people who take clients out hunting coues deer, but success rates of outfitters, size of bucks etc..........I talked with alot of well know named hunters like Craig Boddington, Jay Gates, Roger Selner, Jay Scott, Duwane Adams, Chuck Adams etc etc......It was a personal quest to learn about who was really good at coues hunting and not just an outfitter who ran alot of hunts. Anyway, the gist of this post is that knowing who is very reputable and actually is a great hunter and not just a great booking agent is key to getting a good guided hunt. For coues hunts it is to me, harder to find the right outfitter than other hunts. Maybe we should have a "Featured Outfitter" post once a month or something to let the "Invited Outfitter" run a Resume' up here and show everyone what their outfit has/is accomplishing. Somehow we have to have some format that is fair to the advertisers, fair to Amanda's website and fair to the other outfitters.................what does everyone think.......................Allen Taylor.............. -
Great buck and I bet it was super nerve racking/exciting to kill him after the stalk/chase. Hope these memories keep you happy at night when you are on your mission outside of coues country..............Allen............
-
Jamaro is exactly right. I think when we use this internet, we need to be aware of how some seemingly innocent comments can cause problems for others. I personally know a few of the advertised outfitters here on this site and they havent been down to Mexico yet with customers so they are worried that this post hurts their reputation. Furthermore, without any details from the customers as to why they didnt kill, we are all guessing that it is the outfitters problems and not the clients. Lets just leave this rest untill we know a little more or we will possibly hurt people we dont intend to...............Allen Taylor..........p.s. I would be happy to interview the clients and the outfitter if you email the names & phone numbers to me at www.environmentalfiltration@msn.com This would clear up the air...................
