This was really a fun hunt. We started monday the 28th, hiking in about 1 mile and spent the whole day back in there. We saw 48 does and 2 bucks, nothing worth going after. Tuesday we hunted up north in the unit in the morning. Saw 13 does. really windy. Tuesday mid day we went way down south and hiked back in about 1 mile. We had 5 border patrol trucks come in on a road north of us and a helicopter hover over our heads. About 1/2 hour later three agents hiked into where we were glassing from. We relocated but the afternoon hunt was screwed. We saw 12 more deer, one good buck but couldnt get on him. Wed morning we went to an area that hopefully had less people activity. We hiked up to a knob and waited for light. We immediately saw a group of muley does on the flats and a few coues does. At 10:15 I picked up a buck way way out on a ridge. I watched him till he beddded, and we relocated by hiking around the backside of the ridge and then straight up. After getting into position, we glassed our butts off but could not find the bedded buck. it was really really brushy, so we just kept glassing, waiting him out. At 3:15 Brent picked him up, he had gotten up to reposition himself. I got the gun on the last spot we saw him and waited. At 3:30 he got up and moved out from behind some ocotillo/mesquite stuff. Once he hit an opening I shot him. He stumbled about 5 yards and went down. Those Barnes X really do some damage. It was a great hunt, a real team effort. Thanks.............Allen.............

I have hunted WY. 3 times. I would call the chamber of commerce in the closest city you plan on hunting. The chamber typically has a list of private landowners who allow trespass hunting for a fee. You can get the list and call the landowners and find a place to hunt. Like Bill said, get your motel booked early early because they go fast. Allen Taylor............

Great buck good job on getting the whole family involved............congratulations........Allen Taylor...........

I too noticed a ton of people in the unit and a really low buck to doe ratio. I glassed over 100 deer in 2 1/2 days with only 4 being bucks. I sure wasnt glassing from the road all the time, I went back in deep many times. Biggest deer I saw was the buck I killed 85". I ran into alot of border patrol guys hiking and a helicopter fly over plus lots and lots of road hunters. I think there are too many tags between the three coues hunts and the muley hunts...........Allen.........

was down in the 36 units the last three days and did not see any rut activity. Saw lots of muley and coues does, few bucks and no swollen necks, no chasing..........nada...........allen........

Congratulations. What a beauty..............Allen.......

Not any great info to share. Saw around 35 coues and 30 muleys. 3 bucks, one around 85" . Must have seen 500 border patrol employees and probably 30 hunters. I think there is so much road traffic going on that it is changing the deer habits. There has been 3 whitetail hunts in there and 2 mule deer hunts. I really expected to see more bucks. Hopefully the rut kicks in and I see good activity later this month.......Allen.........p.s. any honey holes you guys want to give up would be great........LOL...............AT.........
