T.J. I think ADA's banquet will be affected. They needed to immediately make a "Stand" on the 2072 issue. I know John continued to talk about it, but really ADA needed to make it clear like AES did. Since John is the president, knowingly/unknowingly he speaks for the ADA. What I gathered is he is not willing to make a stand. Sportsmen are passionate about their sport and from all appearances, HB2072 was not in the best interest of sportsmen. HB2072 was driven by AZSFW and ADA needs to remove all support of AZSFW. I really want ADA to survive, so they need to make some very tough decisions very soon so the welfare of AZ wildlife is not affected. Allen....................

Steve, I couldnt agree with you more. One of the "unspoken" issues/turn offs with alot of groups is the hidden agenda. I think many people dont want to belong to any conservation group formally just because of the "hidden agenda" many of the members have. Having said that, if all the conservation groups just get back to "wildlife conservation" and not multiple hidden agendas, life will be easier. Any joint lobbyist must be speaking for the group as a whole and not 1 or 2 individuals with "hidden agenda's". Also the lobbyist shouldnt go off on their own agenda, they must support the conservation groups............Allen........... -

Kent, I talked with Vince and now know what/where the connection is. You really went out of your way on his 3A/3C hunt. Yeah on this 2072 it really brings back all the research I did a few years back. I was assured and assured again that nothing like Utah would happen and yet it feels like Utah SFW with this bill. Now absolute assurances/contractual need to be in place with any "lobbying group" before I am comfortable. Everyone keeps mentioning how much money is needed to support the lobbying, but if we dont protect how the lobbyists spend the money, it wont matter how much we raise. Oversight Oversight Oversight will be a very key issue..............Allen Taylor.............. -

krp. I have put alot of thought into the response I got back in 2006. and now in 2012. I know that I will have a very hard time backing/supporting any other lobbying group after what has happened. I have read and re read hb2072 and do not see how it is the right method to help wildlife, my kids, or me. I fully understand money is needed to fund lobbying efforts, but the next group must have an oversight group that ensures Backdoor moves don't occur. I. volunteer to sit on the oversight committee.........allen taylor -

John, has ADA removed its support of AZSFW? I think that this issue is a very big issue after the 2072 bill. I for one would like to know..........Allen........... -

audsley.....I am more than willing to give more than 10.00 towards the cause. I don't know who or how this lobbyist group should be selected so why don't you help this process along. I am very serious about this and will follow through with direct cash donation....allen Taylor..... -

The above letter from Mark Bool outlines where ADA stands/stood on the bill. I personally dont want to see ADA thrown under the bus so I will let everyone decide after reading this letter from Mark. I respect YVRGC and AES for their "do not support" vote against the bill, and I feel that ADA's position is the same. I hope all conservation groups come on here and state where they are at regarding 2072. I know there are tons of silent watchers out there that make up a large portion of the AZ hunting community. I think it is important they know where their favorite conservation group stands..........Allen Taylor.......... -
Where do we go from here?
coueshunter replied to archerycrazy's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I just found out that ADA usually does not have their monthly meeting during the banquet month, so since ADA has a banquet on Feb 25th, they did not schedule a regular monthly meeting. I wouldnt be surprised to find them schedule on next week though, due to all the people involved in this HB2072 input. Sure would be a good opportunity to get a few new people at the meetings, and maybe get new blood involved. I know Mark Bool wrote a response here on CW regarding ADA's position on HB2072. I believe it was on the other thread. I think ADA was just as surprised with the content of HB2072 as everyone else. It is a shame that the conservation groups placed their trust in a political action group and then got their trust broken...........Allen Taylor.......... -

chef, we have been playing phone tag. I know it would really help AZ deer association if they posted a position statement here on cw. I have followed this since it all blew up and bonus point john has as well. I don't know for sure why a formal rebut.al hasn't been posted or emailed out yet but that is a great question for the board. another question should be about emailing all members when signific, ant issues come up like this bogus bill. I got an email today about wolves, but nothing a few weeks back regarding bill 2072. in today's technological age, there are many ways to keep members informed via emails, texts, websites etc....all the org need to do this to remove the feelings of exclusion and hidden agendas.....allen Taylor..... -

Archerycrazy: I for one agree with you and am not opposed to re-organizing AZSFW in a manner such that it "supports conservation groups" and is totally transparent. Audsley somewhat muddied the water up with his comments. Most regular guys like me were under the impression that the "funds" Audlsye is talking about came from the fee's our groups like ADA, AES etc...subsidized and sent directly to AZSFW. If we have a group that does function as a legislative/lobbying group soley functioning at the bequest of conservation groups and for causes we determine are worthwhile, I think for the most part, AZ sportspeople would be happy. As it sits now, there are a select few "insiders" at many of the conservation groups who make decisions without much input asked for or given from the members. Summation: 1. Lets still have an organization to represent us politically. 2. That organization keeps us informed via a website or emails on any issues that they are working on. 3. The organization solicits help via the website/email to the members. 4. conservation groups have 1 member from each group(ADA 1, AES 1, etc) on a general council that oversees what the AZSFW lobbyist is doing There are a couple ideas.............Allen Taylor............ -

mark. bool. you are a very good and trustworthy person in my book. thanks for the public clarity on 2072. I think this situation has allowed insight into how all wildlife orgs. can communicate via a website with their members. in the past many of us have used email as a method to reach groups quickly on issues that need immediate attention, so there is no reason Ada can't use cw or some other website to quickly relay info especially info that needs help like 2072. I challenge all responders to go to Ada or another conservation groups next meeting......allen taylor

John, I believe I am still a member of ADA. I know I would appreciate a response on what ADA's position was on the bill. I fully understand it is a "moot point". Let me mention that ADA did not make it a moot point to my understanding so please state what ADA's position was on this bill. You have so eloquently mentioned that we are not aware of "the big picture" and as such we rely on ADA and other wildlife organizations to keep us aware of this big picture. This last situation with AZSW and its political lobbying arm has caused a major stir amongst us "unaware" folks and now we would like to know info ahead of the plan instead of at the last minute. I have always supported ADA through banquets, fundraisers, volunteer efforts etc. Please support me as one of the members and state ADA's position...........respectfully.....Allen Taylor.........480-258-3726..........

Like jim weirs, this poster did not think before he spoke. Hopefully some guys from NM will jump in. I have hunted NM and hunt each year here in AZ with guys from NM. It is not the state your from, but the "state your in" meaning how you were brought up. USO is headquartered in NM and they are not my favorite group, but I dont paint the whole state the same as USO. Sorry this happened to you, but be careful how you ascribe titles to all "AZ" hunters, you will be wrong and worst of all have taught your daughter to descriminate.........Allen.......

Robbie, I applaud you for your response. BPJ said many many things and yet doesnt totally have a clear picture of who he is talking to. The web is open to alot of "view" only people. I was a bit offended when he mentioned that most people here on CW havent done a project or went to commission meetings. I remember the USO fiasco and I was there at the meetings with Lark Hubbard (who BPJ bashed) I also sat on the board of ADA for sometime. I know there are alot of people who are on this website and others who may not go to all the conservation group meetings but still have a passion for wildlife and donate money, time etc.... towards that effort without expecting applause. I resented 2072, I resented BPJ saying I didnt understand the big picture and I especially resented Weirs letter explaining how "us average joe's " did not understand the big picture. Well, the big picture would not have been very bright for us regular guys/gals if this bill went through. I think what would help the whole AZ wildlife situation would be ongoing active interaction by the Wildlife groups and their members. As it sits now, there is very little if any survey's, polls, newsletters that go out soliciting input from the members so basically someone else provides "absentee" votes without your knowledge on many many issues. I wonder if BPJ , Weirs and specifically SFW understand what "Big picture" is in their future................... after these past actions I dont see a very nice picture.........Allen Taylor.............
