Governor hearing a sales pitch for HB2072 today
coueshunter replied to audsley's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Can anyone with political knowledge answer the following: If/when HB2072 or any form of it gets proposed, is there a place in the "process" that it must go through that we can already be sending letters/emails etc...? as an example, should we flood Gov. Brewers office with calls/email/letters? Does she have any VETO power? Somehow some way I would think we can be quickly versed on a way in which we can immediately make an impact. Any answers would sure help the cause................Allen Taylor.......... -

I actually pulled a few Board members lists/ Board of Govenors list yesterday: Chris Denham-AZSFW---ADA----outdoorexperience for all Floyd Green-AZSFW---ADA---AZSFWC Todd Hulm-AZSFW--AAF Alan Hamberlin-AZSFW---AZSFWC Art Pearce-AZSFW--AZSFWC John Kolezar-AZSFWC--ADA Pete Cimellaro--AZSFW--ADA--AAF Also, I didnt do tons of research, but Big Game Forever is something that should really be looked into. Don Peay founded it and I believe AZSFW is a partner. Don Peay founded SFW and in spite of our AZSFW "not being affiliated", Don Peay was down here making the rounds when AZSFW opened up, and Big Game forever/SFW consults with groups like AZSFW. Dont want to make up a "conspiracy theory" so much as point out that there is so much cross connections that it makes your head spin......You be the judge and do your own research..........Allen Taylor..........

Mark, you could not be more on track. All of us need to get actively involved in 1 or more organizations.....if for nothing more than to know what is going on behind the scenes........I am going to contact AES today and become a member. If for nothing else, they and YVR&GC stood up and severed their ties with AZSFW. I have not be give a clear/concise/ answer on why conservation groups need to continue association/affiliation with AZSFW. Until an acceptable answer is given, I dont support any group that is still affiliated with AZSFW............Allen............... -

It was a pleasure to meet everyone face to face. I sincerely want ADA to survive for the benefit of AZ Wildlife. Alot of people said alot of things. I know that " The gathering" we had last night could be perceived as an ADA bashing but I hope everyone involved see's the "Big picture" and that last night wasnt a bashing, but rather an emotional appeal from alot of "silent majority" people who sincerely want what is good for wildlife. Hopefully ADA can see through the anger/frustration and identify what is needed to be done...................Allen Taylor............. -
I have the 12x20 alnak from Cabela's. I have used it for 7 or so years. I have used it in CO. up at 11,500 feet, AZ on the kaibab late hunts the past 3 years, early bull hunts in monsoon weather etc...... I love the tent, you can actually put it up by yourself if need be (hard but do-able). It is very roomy. I have liked the tent. Allen...........

I believe we should see a position statement from ADA regarding not only HB2072, but the alignment with AZSFW. I just got another email from Pete C. regarding HB2072 so hopefully someone like Pete, Chris, Alan, Jim or Suzzane shows up to explain the HB2072 fiasco and what we can expect in the future. Hopefully this meeting is productive and helps form where we go from here..........Allen Taylor,......

There is a meeting tomorrow night at Bass Pro shop. It is in conjunction with the Arizona Deer Association where all of us "average Joe's" are going to have a chance to discuss where AZ conservation is going. Please Please try and be there. This is a very important meeting that I believe will set a precedent for where we as a hunting community are going. Many CouesWhitetail members are meeting at 5 - 5:30 before the meeting at the restaraunt in Bass Pro. Call me if you have any questions........Allen Taylor.......480-258-3726.......cell........602-454-2146...office...........

AZSFW open letter to sportsmen

Is anyone out there APPALLED at the 137% increase in operating funds on a resource that is dwindling? I mean how can 90 million in budget money be spent when everything is in decline. Wildlife, hunters, tags etc.....all went down and the budget goes up. In business this model wouldnt work. Someone has to take seriously the way the current money is being spent to ensure maximum positive effects are seen on the ground, or no additional money is going to help.........Allen......... -

Dom: I meant/mean no dis-respect in my prior post or this post. I fully understand the "hunters clinic", juniors deer, banquet etc..... My simple issue is with ADA's association with AZSFW/AZSFWC. I have not seen where that relationship is beneficial, I feel it is a hinderance. I personally was assured a few years back that "Tag Grabbing" was not in AZSFW's agenda. I was assured that ADA would fight against that. It sures seems to me that they are not "Fighting against it". As such, I think many feel the same way and will not support a group that sends money to AZSFW/AZSFWC. I did not state that money/time/effort will be withheld, The money/time/effort will just be re-located to an organization that is 100% for AZ wildlife and not with "hidden agenda". You can call me if you want, but hopefully the above is clear/concise on where I stand...........Allen Taylor.......480-258-3726 -

Dom: good post (generally). I think that some of the outbursts you see/hear on CW are actually from people that spend time/money/efforts for wildlife that you may not be aware of. Take .270 as an example. I sat side by side with Lark during the USO fiasco at commission meetings. He is so vocal because he CARES about wildlife here in AZ as well as everywhere else. He most likely was fed up with the way alot of org's morphed into social cliques instead of staying focused on the primary goal of helping wildlife. Many org's have developed into "exclusive" clubs that give off the vibe that makes people feel less than welcome. After saying this, many will get defensive and not look at this potential, but it is there. Kent probably has some of these same feelings. With everyone being so busy in life/job/family, some of us determine our best "fit" in wildlife conservation and we do what we can, like junior hunters efforts, work projects, money donation.........etc..........but we all probably support where we feel our efforts/dollars/time will be most beneficial. Right now and for the past couple of weeks, people are looking at the orgs like ADA and want to know where they stand. The reason this is important is twofold: 1. ADA supported AZSFW and AZSFW just pushed HB2072 that alot of people dont think was in the best interest of wildlife 2. Alot of people think since AZSFW did this, ADA needs to sever ties so any money/effort ADA gets doesnt go back to AZSFW If ADA had made a stand against HB2072/AZSFW immediately, there are alot of people that would be committed to the upcoming banquet. As it sits now, I know personally of many who just dont want to spend the money on raffles, auction items etc when they dont know if AZSFW will still get its cut. As Kent mentioned, there are changes in the wind and maybe the outcome of the meeting on the 21st will give us a picture of where we are going. I urge everyone to attend. Hopefully ADA stands up and shows us where they plan on going. If not, we have some planning to do if we all sincerely believe our #1 mission is the preservation and enhancement of wildlife in AZ .............Allen Taylor......... -
