Guess the Score Contest - Nov 09

    115 5/8. Nice buck congrats!
  7. Gamehauler, On my 7mm mag encore prohunter barrel that I had I was able to use a punch or soft hammer to put the pin in and take out. No drilling required and I think the 2X pin would do the same, with a little more force but never tried it since the 1x fit so well. The pin will not come out on its own like the factory pin and you can feel the difference between the stock and factory pin. The 1x had no slop while the factory did. On Mike Bellm website he explains the benefits of a tighter fitting pin. You should have no problem putting the 1x pin on any of your current barrels, if you have them. The stock extension is only screwed in to the stock using different holes then the recoil pad. All it would invalve is removing it and scewing the recoil pad back on using original screw holes. I felt the standard stock to be a little to short for me so that is why I added it. I can send you pics if you want let me know. I am located in Tucson. TREESTANDMAN, PM/TEXT SENT

The glass is excellent condition with no scratches. There is ring marks behind the turret and a ding in the windage turret cap. The rest of finish is like new. SOLD Pentax 16x60 PCF WP Binoculars These used to be my go to coues binos but upgraded to swarovskis. They are in good shape. The outer rubber coating has some scratches and the bottom of the lenses have a few tiny hair line scratches but do not affect image. SOLD TWO 20 lb CO2 Tanks I used these for paintball CO2 tank refills but would also work great for offroad vehicle tire inflating system, kegerator, or welding. It used to cost around 16 bucks to swap out for a full tank and you can get them without a siphon if you want when you exchange them. SOLD Paintball CO2 refill station This was used to fill the 20 oz or smaller tanks for paintball. Worked better with the 20oz. It just screws into the tanks above. SOLD Convair Polar Pride portable evaporative cooler I only used this for about 6 days while our AC was replaced. Works great for small areas. Its rated to cool 200 sq ft. These run around $250 to $350 in comparable models. SPF I am located in Tucson to arrange pickups. I do travel for work so we might be able to meet depending on location. I have plenty more pictures if needed. PM or email me with any questions or offers at craig098@gmail.com

  12. Here is my 08 buck, I was very fortunate to connect with. I could not have done it without my hunting partner and brother in-law Nate, thanks Bro. I Shot him at about 4:30 pm on 11/29/08. I shot at him 4 times, I put two in him at 540 yards and the finishing one at 520 yards. As we walked up to him both of us were in shock at his mass. Neither of us saw it through the binos. He taped out at 129 1/8. What a great buck and hunt of a lifetime. Enjoy!

  14. I took my deer to a local business in Tucson, The Sausage Shop, located at 1015 W Prince Rd, AZ 85705. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a business. They have no pride or care for the way they butcher your meat. The owner did not care one bit or even want to see how I got my meat back. Short Version First off I would like to say I was a customer of The Sausage Shop for four years buying meat and sandwiches. I even had my deer butchered by them last year and never had a problem. My meat that I took to them was skinned and quarter with no damage to any of it. I got my meat back with only four packs of loin chops, which seemed sort to me. I called and asked them about it and spoke with Mike. He said to open a pack and see how many chops are in a pack and they would look around there shop to see if missed any. I opened a pack and hair was all over the cut sides of the meat. I opened another pack and same thing and I could not tell how many were in a pack. I called Mike the next day and told him about it. He responded with you have all your meat, there are 6 one inch chops to a pack, that gives you 24", normally their is only 20, and it is not our responsibility how you bring your meat to us, you must of brought it dirty and what you got back is all your deer and what you get is what you get. Upset, that 24 chops still seems sort and he didn't care about the hair on my meat. I went home I opened six more packs of various cuts of meat and all had hair on them and one had big piece of hide on it. I could not believe they gave cut pieces of meat back to me like this. I could understand a hair or two on the meat but when there is 10-15 and hide on it that is unacceptable. If my cut meat has this much stuff on it what does my hamburger have in it. You know they didn't clean it before they grinded it. I thought maybe if they seen what they gave me they would be more understanding. I took the meat to them and ask Ken who said he was the owner to look at my meat. He refused and said I had to talk to Mike. When I refused to talk to Mike and asked agian for him to look at my meat he said I was harassing him and to get out of his store. I said how am I harassing you, I just want you to look at my meat and I pulled out a piece. He then yelled get out, I am calling the cops. I waited out side for them. Two customer came out and said they would wait with me to vow I was not harassing them and one was a off duty cop who did wait. Cops came told them my story. Mike came around the corner and asked the cops if they needed to talk to him. We went over to him and first thing he said to me was, what do you want, you have all your meat. I said fine I have all my meat but what about all the hair on it. He basically said the same thing he said on the phone and added the $70 I paid for them to butcher my deer does not cover them cleaning it and that I brought it in to them dirty. It basically ended at that. I took it to them the same way I did the year before with no problem and how did I get hair on the cuts they made. Call me crazy but doesn't butchering include cleaning. Who wants dirty meat back. What did they do roll it around on a dirty table or kick it around on the floor. Who knows but to me my deer meat is ruined and I am not going to eat it. Its just wrong what they have done. I still can’t believe they would treat a returning customer like this. Some businesses just don’t care about customer service anymore. Please forward this to all your hunting buddies to avoid The Sausage Shop ruining any more precious venision and if any one has had similar experience with this horrible butcher call the following numbers and report them. Also post your comments on every web site your can find. We need to get the word out. No body should trust these guys. 15. I dont know how hide got on it. Did they skin a deer over my meat or lay my meat in a dirty area. Is it even my deer. I don't know. I normally process my own deer but due to time constraints in the past to years I opted to have my meat processed. I won't eat it because to many things are going to be running through my head while eating it and I can't wash hamburger, which they made most of my meat into. Believe me I will not take my meat to a butcher again although I am sure there are good, clean, honest ones.
  16. My Nov hunt started early on Thursday Nov. 8th. My hunting partners and I started our hike at 3:00 am to get an early scout in. Since we had three tags to fill we were anxious to find our bucks. It was a hot and painful day. I developed large blisters on both heels from the long hike to our camping spot. Thursdays scouting showed no promise. Only a few small bucks. Uncertain of our Friday hunting spot we decided to try a canyon that we had not seen before but looked like a really good area. The morning hike into this area started at 4:30 am, man was it torturous. We finally reached our destination right before sun up. Our adrenaline and high hopes going we glassed frantically trying to find that big buck. No big buck! Only small bucks all day. Disappointed, we bagan the long hike back just before dark. That night another buddy of ours joined us help fill our tags. We decided to split up the next day and hunt different canyons. It would be me and my buddy that hiked in the night before hunting together. Sleeping through the alarm we got a late start and could not make it to the canyon we wanted to be in so we chose a closer one. No shooters all morning. The other group had some luck and one of them shot at a decent three point but missed. We decided to try the canyon we did'nt make to that morning for the evening hunt. My buddy finally spotted a nice buck about 2500 yards away. We decided to try and get closer but lost him when we got over to were he was. Three of us including my self had to leave that night, so we made the long hike out with doubt of finding a good buck again. Two of the guys stayed another day with no luck in seeing any shooters. With no one able to take time off during the week, I was solo. I finally got back to hunting on Tuesday afternoon in an area I have never been before. That afternoon and next morning I did not see one buck only does. I decided mid day to go back to the area we had seen the nice three point on saturday afternoon but approach the canyon from a different vantage. I got to the camping spot I wanted to be at around 5:00 pm on Wednesday. Not able to get to the vantage I glassed from camp and only seen a few does. Excited for the next day I could barely sleep. My excitement turned to disgust when the wind started blowing hard at about 3:00 am. Nowing the wind usually keeps the deer from moving I was uncertain of what I would see. I hiked to the vantage in the dark and got set up. I was set up a good distance away from the canyon I was trying to glass and it would of been a good spot except the wind blew in alot of dust and the cloud cover made it hard to glass from that distance. Not seeing any bucks I decided to get closer. I drove to a point in the road I glassed that would put me in better position to hike to another vantage. I got to this point about 10:30 am. I glassed all the bedding areas as best I could but with the wind my binos were shaking like a tumbler. Frustrated and disappointed in the weather I decided to take a nap. That did'nt last very long. It started sprinkling and the wind picked up even more. Now more frustrated, I went back to glassing as best I could and told myself about 100 time to not go back to the truck. I only spotted four does at this point. At 2:00 I decided to get closer to the canyon and get a better veiw of the canyon we had seen that buck. I got closer and glassed every square inch I could see three times. No deer! It was getting close to 4:00 pm and the wind starting dying down. Uncertain of my location I told myself this is the last time I would glass this mountain to my right and then move to the other side of the ridge I was on and glass that. I got close to the top about mid way through and finally a BUCK!! A decent buck! Then another BUCK!! Alot bigger BUCK!! Holly crap a BIG BUCK!! This was definitely the biggest buck I have ever glassed. My Heart rate going a mile a minute I ranged him at 506 yard. My first thought I need to get closer. Look around, no cover. I'm in the wide open. dang it! I have to shoot from here! I practiced a lot and shot a lot at far distances before the hunt for this reason, but still when you see a buck like this you don't want to screw it up. Set up my rifle with bipod down and dialed up the scope to that distance! Got on the buck! The pounding of haeart had the duplex moving with every beat! I told myself calm down, took a couple deep breaths, Pulled off my jacket set it under the stock! Nice and steady now! Waiting until he was broad side, compensated for the wind, and squeezed! BOOM! Did I hit him! I did'nt hear that thump! Got back on him and sure enough I hit him! Right through the front shoulders! He was stumpling down the hill quickly and could not really use his front legs. I wanted to put another one in him because I could see the shot was a little to far forward then I like but he was moving to quickly and did not offer another shot. He ended up in some thick brush. Got on the binos and all I could see was his head moving every now and then. I packed up my gear and headed to a rock outcrop that was higher then him. Got to this point and all I could see was his snout, some of his antlers, and some of his neck. Dialed the scope back down and put one right through the middle of his neck. Whoooo Huuu!! I got him. I was even more happy when I got up to him. I jumped around around like a little kid. My adrenaline lasted through the night. My buddy and I scored him at 103. Thanks to Nate, Mike, and Phil for being great hunting parners and I wish you guys were there.

    2007 NOVEMBER BUCK

I used a Remington model 700 in 308 win with a Zeiss 4.5-14 conquest using reloads that shot a Hornady 130 gr. SP. I did a lot of work to the rifle this year. I put a new stock. Pillar and glass bed it. Put the Zeiss on it and work on the load quite a bid. I got it dialed in to shoot sub half MOA at 100. All that work payed off.

    Bullet Question

GOING TO A 125 GR WOULD NOT BE THE ANSWER FOR REACHING OUT FURTHER. THE 125 GR WILL DRIFT MORE IN THE WIND AND ACTUALLY DROP MORE THAN A 150 GR AT FURTHER DISTANCES GRANTED YOU USE A 150 GR BULLET WITH A HIGH BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT. I WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT 165 GR BULLETS IF YOU WANT REACH OUT FURTHER AND WOULD DEFINITELY NOT USE ANY BALLISTIC TIP 125 GR BULLETS ON DEER. IVE USED THEM AND THEY FRAGMENT WAY TO MUCH. THERE ARE FREE BALLISTIC CALCULATORS ON 6MMBR.COM WEB SITE UNDER ARTICLES. RUN THE BALLISTIC AND YOULL SEE WHAT I MEAN. A 165 GR BULLET WITH A HIGH BC WILL DRIFT HALF THE DISTANCE THAN THE 125 AND DROP LESS PAST DISTANCES AROUND 350. IT WILL ALSO CARRY MUCH MORE ENERGY.
