In the late 70's Stoneman Lake was putting out one state record yellow perch after another...Mormon Lake consistently produced decent sized pike, walleye and more than a few yellow-belly bullheads...and just about all the nearby cattle tanks we're loaded with water dogs and little yellow-belly bullheads... Russell tank used to be a good out-of-the-way blast and cast spot for ducks and trout...if you fished it right Oak Creek would even come through with an occasional 18 plus inch brown trout...Kinnikinick lake was a mighty fine place to connect with an oversized brown trout too...from late January right into mid February we would catch decent 12 fish limits of rainbows through the ice at Ashurst lake...back then you would get so many Hammer handle size pike out of Lower Lake Mary that your arms got sore from casting... and boy did we slay the walleyes whenever the Upper Lake spillway was running in the lower Lake... I sure had high hopes of introducing all that good fishing to my children...too bad those lakes went into a steady decline and just never recovered from this decades-long drought that were experiencing.........

HUGE public land sale Cochise co / South Willcox
drcarr replied to elkaholic's topic in Classified Ads
No sir, I was just suggesting that because more people are aware of this auction, there would probably be more FFL holders bidding... LOL... That is good information about the property for sale... I understand that, due to proposed housing developments, some parts of Cochise County are going to experience quite a bit of growth...Thank you for the information......... -

Recently purchased a rifle from "levers"...the gun received was in far better condition than I was told to expect and he was very patient as we worked out the logistics of getting the gun from Phoenix to Tucson...I would definitely do business with him again.........

Thanks again for working with me at figuring out the best delivery plan...the rifle is in far better condition then any so-called "truck gun" I have ever owned...I'll definitely be looking over the next "truck gun" quality firearm you put up for sale... Haha

Hornady ELD Match vs ELD X (hunter)
drcarr replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have a great 200grn Accubond loading for my 300 Win Mag... it took me a few years to change from Partition's to Accubond's... I think I'll wait a bit more before investing in either ABLR's or the ELDX's........... -
I've used "Sages" several times...Extremely fast deliveries with product always meeting if not exceeding my expectations...Highly recommend this site...........

Congratulations Lee...getting an antelope tag is fantastic... honoring the animal and the hunt by using an old-school rifle and caliber is outstanding...good luck to you...........

Only bought points this draw due to illness...I'm getting better and will be focusing on predators/OTC hunts as my health permits........
-
The questions are beneficial from a sellers point of view as it keeps the post bumped to the top and the demonstrated interest in an item often encourages fence sitters to buy...if I lose a sale because of this behaviour too bad for me and you...overall the questions are a good and necessary sales tool.........

I load 110gr Accubonds in my Quarter bores and 200gr Accubonds for my 300 WinMags...very good accuracy and no complaints regarding terminal performance...have taken Elk, Coues and Muleys with this bullet...as with any bullet POI is the key...under full disclosure I've always been partial to Nosler bullets...especially Partitions..........

Anybody ever own a western field rifle?
drcarr replied to creed_az_88's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have an old Western Field pump 20 gauge with an adjustable poly choke...never had any problems with it and the kids have shot alot of doves, quail and rabbits with this gun...I believe Western Field was a Montgomery Wards house brand...you may be able to find out something about your rifle using these website links..... https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Brand-Cross-Reference.htm?mfgr=Western%20Field%20 http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5548699 -
The lion in my avatar came in to my turkey calling...Over the years I've been lucky enough to call in four other lion...Twice with an E-Caller (FoxPro Fury & a Johnny Stewart cassette player) using fawn bleats and twice with dying rabbit mouth call sounds...Every lion I've called or even seen was in areas where the deer populations were concentrated...none came in fast and all were in rocky areas with thick vegetation cover........
