JR elk hunt 2 weeks away, can’t wait!!!

I will be either in a Black Ram 2500, or a Green Nissan Xterra. Awesome that he can reach out to 300 yards and is comfortable there! For what it's worth, the last 5 Elk kills between myself and my direct family in 22N combine for about 115 yards total The long shots are DEFINTELY out there, but they like to walk right up on you as well! Just be ready!

JR elk hunt 2 weeks away, can’t wait!!!

Leaving in exactly one week for 22N for my daughter's hunt! The real work starts this weekend with trying to find all our camping gear, getting the trailer ready and a quick stop at the range to check zero's!

    22N Late Rifle

I want to second the notion of a few others in this thread to spend the money on good glass and good boots (and maybe a pack frame) vs. getting a guide. I have hunted 22N for cow elk for about 18 years now, and can say first hand their are big bulls to be had, even in the late season. Don't think about what is there "today" but rather where they would come from if there is weather, and hunting pressure in other units. You are going to be looking for some worn-out, tired boys that just went through 2 hard months of rut and hunting pressure. They will make it a point not to be found (but also they will make it a point to not have to work hard for food or water). I will be in 22N for a Junior hunt on the 8th, my hunt on the 15th, and then for my brothers Bull hunt the same week as you. I won't ever share areas in a virtual format, but DM me if you are thinking of being in the area. A few beers at Double D usually helps me share secrets

How far would you pack out an elk

I've had a range of pack-outs, the longest being well over 3 miles, and the shortest being about 10 feet. However would take a 10 mile pack-out vs the 1000 yard "straight-up-a-cliff-in-the-rain" cow elk in 2015. As a previous poster said, it is all subjective.
