Saw tons of antelope today but this one made the mistake of coming into my decoy at 30 yards! Added story! Was in a valley just north and way of the highway 82/83 intersection. Saw probably 50+lope running in a circle around the valley. They would let me get to about 70 yards and then push the does off. About 10:00 in the morning I moved to one of the few trees to get out of the sun and put up my decoy. I saw this buck and a doe about 200 yards up the hill running towards another hunter at the top of the hill. The doe spooked and ran and this guy turned, saw my decoy and slowly made his way to me. Took about 30 min to cover those 200 yards. He stopped at 60 and started to go the other way so I drew. At that point he started to come back again so I let down. He went down into the wash and popped up behind my decoy at 30 yards. Two steps to the left and I had a solid quartering towards shot. Put it in right in front of the shoulder and came out the opposite hind quarter. Took out lung, liver and femoral. He ran about 20 yards and went down. Was a ton of fun.

Pulled my first ever Archery Antelope tag. Unit 34B. I know the unit real well as its about 30 min from my house. Any pointers on hunting these speed goats? Dont need locations....just any tips as I am a newbie with this animal. Appreciate the help, Phil

Thank you all. I hunt the unit often for Whitetail and took a nice muley out of the Las Cienegas a few years ago. Always see the Antelope. Defintley have the knee pads and dont mind crawling in the rocks, cactus and grass. Im just not sure how to stalk these buggers. Not like a deer where I have terrain or trees to work with. Out in the open is a whole new ballgame for me. Might try a decoy and there is enough water around there I am not sure I can plan for a water hole or not (Especially that late in the Monsoon season). Will be a blast either way!

Fair enough Dustin. Appreciate that and I need to be a little less sensistive as well. Been a long week at work. 🙂

Waste any time what? Asking other people if they have tips on hunting an animal I have never hunted before? Yes....I have read books, watched TV shows, been in the field etc. Did not ask for a honey hole, didnt even ask where to hunt. I know where to hunt. Appreciate your time....feel free to move on if you have nothing of value to add.

26.5" 5MM EASTON FMJ's @ 10.2 GPI with a 100 Gr Muzzy MX3 = 370.3 grains (plus a few grains for Blazers, insert and nock). 370 Grains and 301 FPS gets about 74.75 ft lbs of energy. Plenty for Elk

Dad drew a 13b Early November rifle tag. Any recommendations on outfitter? Cost not really a problem (dream hunt for him) so looking for best.

Thanks guys. He pulled it with 13 points and will be 67. He definitely is not going to turn this back in. He spoke with Arizona Strip Guides (Travis) today and it sounds like they match well. I’ll have him check out the above.

closing Unit 33 Early season and going to Whitetail only in Jan is a bummer. I love that early season hunt....nobody is out there due to heat.

Hello all. Let me start by saying I am NOT looking for spots. I drew an early archery bull tag with my dad (67 years old) and this will possibly be his last elk hunt since it took us 12 years to draw as residents. We normally hunt 27 and decided to try a different unit this year. We plan to do quite a bit of scouting but am hoping someone can point us in the right direction on where to start. Anderson Mesa or north off the cliff face of Anderson Mesa? Looking forward to a great hunt and hope to see some of you in the field. Also happy to return the info for unit 27 or any 33, 34A/B units for Coues/Muleys. Thank you....Phil

Selling a set of Zeiss 10X40 B T*P Binos. $400. In Tucson Arizona but will ship if you cover shipping charges. Glass is in great condition and eyecups still feel brand new (no cracking when folded).

These have been sold. Thank you.

New to the forum. Just saying hello and to introduce myself. Archer from Tucson with a passion for elk, muleys and those stupid little whitetail (I hate them and everything they stand for as they continue to elude me). name is Phil.

I dont know that I would ever admit to having a hunting problem. 🙂

The Coleman campground guide says that you can find Elk in Peppersauce Canyon on the backside of Mount Lemmon in Unit 33.

Guess today was a great day to start on the forum. Either an early Archery Bull 5BN or 3B tag. Regardless...I am a happy man.

Got hit as well. 5Bn or 3B. YAY!!!!!!

Dang it....I told her to stop putting those online. If those pics are ones you actually took I only ask for 5% of what ever you make.
