Wake up this morning and can`t yet believe I did not draw an elk tag! I guess things are a changing in NM also, used to be unit 15 muzzy was a done deal soon as you put in. My home unit is 12, they dropped the tags here to 30 bulls and 30 cows so I knew hunting from the house was going to be tougher this year but I still can not believe no elk tag. Since moving to NM I have never not been drawn for what ever elk hunt I put in for. I`m having flashbacks this morning of the Az elk draw!!! Anyways, just a little shock, I`m over it cause at least I did draw a tag for deer. Again congrats to all who drew out and if any of you did draw unit 12 elk give me a PM and I am more than willing to show you some good areas around the house here.

My brother and I share a Knight TK 2000 12 gauge shot gun, it is one sweet gun, we use it for spring turkey. I shoot the CVA Kodiak Pro 50 cal. If I could afford the better known name brands I don`t think I would buy one because I have never had any trouble with CVA and have been using it for years now with several elk to it`s credit. As Jamaro said, stock up on the Primer holders in case it is true they are going out of business. I don`t understand what you mean WalkingW that they are for the lazy and disabled as most guys I know that hunt muzzy usually treat it as archery and work in up close. And as every one knows archery is not for the lazy. And before anyone thinks I am trying to pick a fight I am not, I just do not get what he said. Anyways good luck if you choose to get one.

CONGRATS!!!!! Very nice looking bird!!! -
Hi All, Hope every one is having a great Turkey season, mine was very good as you see from the above photos. I had these other ones on my camera. Jim found 4 more elk sheds and I found 1. For those of you who like the tech stuff!! Knight TK 2000 muzzle loader, 12 gauge with 120 grain load of powder and 2 oz of #4 shot. Hit the bird at about 42 yards with amazing force, kind of think maybe it would reach out a bit further but I like them inside of 50 at least. I am so hooked on the muzzle loading, this is my second turkey with it and Jim got his last year with it also over in AZ.

On the way back from town today on the radio (770) they talked a bit about the draw being extended, the story said the game and fish sight took 1.5 million hits since yesterday and crashed. They also said the reason for the extra time was people could not get the new id number. I do not agree with that, we all know technology is not the greatest thing in the world to count on so like others have said, why wait to the last day? Also how much will this effect the draw odds by adding the extra time. -
Here is a shot of Jim holding his set. Jim says it was 14 miles on the day but the way I`m feeling right now I think it was more like 20!! What a day it was.

I live just over the boarder from AZ, my brother lives in Eager, so my question is when I load up my quad to go over and hang out with my brother does this sticker thing apply to out of state rigs just in state for a few days?

Hi, I am new to this site, My brother Jim from Egar, AZ has been on here for some time, I live just north east of Mr. Whites ranch, Look up Fence Lake, NM on your map and that will get you there. The country around here is about 6 to 7,500 feet in elevation depending on where your at, we have mostly pinon and sigle seed juniper with some ponderosa, rolling hills with some bluffs and large open grasslands mixed in. There are some good pockets of Antalope in the region as well as Elk but they are what I feel is a tough hunt. Mr White is a very nice man, if you give him a call he would most likely be very helpfull to you. Good luck. I have seen some very nice bucks in the area so your chance of finding what your looking for is pretty good
