G&F commission voted unanimously to ban trail cams

I highlighted a few things for you from your post. Its like they wrote that in there specifically for trail cameras. Trail cameras are the perfect example of not fair chase. Binos don't overwhelm any animals ability to elude detection or take. 1300 trail cameras from one outfitter on the strip certainly does though.

    Varget 8lb jug

Varget is costing $65 a pound so as crazy as it sounds an almost full 8 pound jug for $400 is a good deal right now.

Just to give you an idea of numbers of cams they actually run, I believe during the commission meeting one of the commissioners said he talked to Matt Schimberg (A3) and he said they have 1350 cameras. I could have sworn they said that was the strip alone but sounds more like a overall state number. Either way, try replacing 1350 cameras monitoring 24/7/365 with people and the math gets even crazier in regards to these guys saying "they'll just have 10 guys on every water hole now 24/7!" Bottom line as you said, there will be a significant decrease in water hole coverage. And most of that coverage that does happen will be during the day, when a lot of mature animals only drink at night.

    I think you're 100% wrong

One thing I agree with you on. A lot of guys will have to learn a whole new way of hunting.

I agree with that, if it ever gets here there isn't anything anyone is going to do to stop it. It spreads like crazy in the east where there is water spread out, so I can't imagine how quick it would spread in the few tanks with water left in a lot of units. I think biggest thing to keep it out of the state is to monitor the animals people bring back into the state. (Which azgfd does) but all it takes is one mistake and it would take off.

Little biology lesson, CWD is caused by prions, not bacteria or a virus. Salt doesn't kill prions. So I stick to my original statement.

I might go for the bait ban being the reason of no CWD if it weren't for all the salt licks at every tank being licked on by every animal that walks by.

95% of DIY guys don't use a camera in a significant way as to help them be successful so how is it going to hurt them? About 95% of guides do use cameras in a significant way as to help them be successful. 15 years ago if a DIY guy wanted the best chance of success he either went up and scouted or hired an outfitter. Now if a DIY guy wants to be successful he goes and scouts or hires an outfitter. Only difference is now the outfitters don't know the exact time and place the biggest bucks and bulls are drinking every single day for months on end. The animals have a fighting chance now and the majority of DIY guys that never used a camera anyway will have a much more level playing field. And overall mature animals being killed will go down on both sides.

The doom and gloom reverse psychology is laughable. When the guides couldn't convince people to let them keep their cameras they switched to that narrative. " Good! Take away the cameras it will only help us!" Lol yes they certainly have any army of minions but before they simply used most of them to run and check their cameras for them. For very little money. Now having to pay all them to sit out in the woods isnt practical. Nor will they hire even more of them to pay to sit in the woods. All those people that used to just sit there guarding tanks in the past was wild. . Wait, they didn't do that and they won't suddenly do that now. Let's look at nevada that instituted a camera ban and you will see none of this doom and gloom you bring up is happening. Good try though.

I'm sure no cameras had nothing to do with many less 200 inch bucks being killed in the past huh? Those cameras don't help anything lol. I would agree with you that a bigger percentage of big bucks will be killed by guides. BUT. . that's how it is now so what's the difference? There will be a lower number of overall big bucks killed on both sides. Of course guys will still get it done, they did in the past and they will continue to. Simple fact now is they will have to work much harder for it. That's what this rule is mostly about. Everyone sees it as something that is only taking away hunter opportunity while ignoring the part where they simply want to give animals a fair chance. If you can still get it done without cameras, great. But atleast the work had to be put in to make it happen. In regard to tanks, tanks all across the state are being mobbed already, so what's the difference? Everyone acts like there will just be hundreds of people lined up checking these tanks for sign. It wasn't like that in the past so why will it suddenly be now? Yeah some outfitters may hire some more guys to help find animals but noone is gonna hire the army of people that everyone is talking about to sit on every tank and high spot. Time will tell but I have a good feeling this will help the herds overall. It will certainly get rid of a lot of no name outfitters that solely depend on cameras.

Pretty much a guarantee that this decision will boost age class on the strip. I dont care where you hunt, a unit cannot support killing 20+ 200 inch bucks every single year.

    Arizona's Mnt Rushmore of Hunting

After you included Jed Larson the poacher I couldn't take your post seriously. Can we add Elmer Fudd to the list? I'd vote for him.

    Friday in Payson Trail Cameras

They wouldn't say you were hunting. That's the point. If you're not using them to aid in take there is no problem. If used in aid of take there is a problem. But as I've said before, of the 95% of other hunters that obey the rule and don't use cameras, there will certainly be a few that are more than willing to dispose of your camera when they find it. Because it will be assumed it's being used to help aid in take. Because lets be honest, very very few people using trail cams aren't doing it to find an animal to kill.Right or wrong that's what will be happening and eventually people will choose to stop putting them out completely.

No crying, but close. Said something about going to jail is all I remember. Also sounded like his big paws clapping super loud after every time someone else commented on not wanting a ban.

Man, for a group of hunters that claim to be all about obeying the law, there sure are a lot of you already advocating breaking this one. Disappointing. . Or does that only apply to laws we don't personally like?

    Friday in Payson Trail Cameras

Removing cameras. You can act all you want that you're not putting them up to look for animals to hunt but the majority of people in the field will disagree. Especially if they refrained from putting up cameras to obey the law.
  23. AZtroutman

    Friday in Payson Trail Cameras

Plenty of hunters that will enforce it while in the field.

Where are the posts about how G&F hasn't posted results yet

A few family members applied early and theirs showed within 48 hours. The rest applied about two weeks ago and still not showing. The poor guy entering all those by hand has a long ways to go.
