I understand that AZGFD is not required to draw the day after credit card update deadline. However, what function does the credit card update deadline serve if there is (right now at least) a 2 week gap between that date and when they conduct the draw? If they don't draw right after the credit card update deadline then all they are doing is creating a mess with people having card issues in the time between the deadline and the draw.

Okay so here's the problem. The application deadline was 2/9. The credit card update deadline was 2/25. If they don't conduct the draw on 2/26 then why have 2/25 be the credit card update deadline? We are almost 2 weeks past the credit card update deadline and AZGFD is still "processing" the draw. So in that 2 week span, many could (and I'm sure some have, just like the OP) have credit card issues. Whatever happens moving forward, the draw has to take place immediately after the credit card update deadline otherwise anyone (except those with prepaid cards) could get screwed because of a credit card issue.

Regardless of what we think, it must be working financially for these corporations. Now we have Dr. Sues's estate cancelling itself by pulling 6 of its own books from circulation. Then people hear that Dr. Sues is being cancelled, buy a ton of books, and then their sales go through the roof. So they make money by self-cancelling and also get to please the woke mob. I can't think of a better con job since James Comey basically costed Hillary the election then became the darling of the left and sold millions of books to Hillary voters.

You nailed it Trophy. Cowering to the woke mob only emboldens them and keeps them coming for me because they believe they were "successful" in the most recent cancellation. For those who say it doesn't matter, it only doesn't matter until it comes for you or something you enjoy.

The problem isn't just with maple syrup and Aunt J. The problem is that corporations are caving to the woke mob on social media, and where/when will it end. The more corporations cave the more demands we will see from the woke mob.

A lot of people put in for other states and if possible would like to know what is going on in AZ before making a decision on another application in another state. Also, I think many are concerned with WTF is going on within AZGFD, why it is taking way longer than usual (I do not believe the additional 17,000 applications is the reason for the delay), and whether they may lose an opportunity to hunt because of credit card issues or problems with the portal. And I'm not sure what the salaries of AZGFD employees has to do with anything. AZGFD has plenty of revenue to have a better system in place.

Thanks AZGFD for the "update" that isn't actually any update since the prior email. Apparently they are still "processing" the draw and want everyone to leave them alone. That's the real point of the email (and making excuses). 17,000 more applications should not matter in the slightest. Obviously they are having issues since the portal change and that appears to be the only reason they are still "processing" the draw. I guess we can only hope they get it right, but at this point who knows...

It blows my mind to read all the posts defending AZGFD because they still haven't missed the April 2 date of mailing tags. Two things can both be true at the same time. It can be true that they will mail out tags on April 2 and also be true that they screwed up (at least in some way as compared to the past) the draw process. To all those complaining about the bitching I ask which is worse: bitching about AZGFD or bitching about bitching?

In another thread Creed said he was told by a representative on the phone that the draw was complete. So you might be right. I wonder how quickly they will fix the portal problem. Seems like it's been an unfixed problem since they changed the system.

The draw has supposedly been completed as of 9:30 this morning but no card hits yet. It was my understanding that the automated draw process triggered the card hit.

Yes 1uofacat - this is 100% on the money. Clearly AZGFD is having issues this time around. We can debate on this Forum all day long as to why they are having issues or what exactly the issues are. But anyone arguing this is normal or nothing is wrong has their head buried in the sand. And the longer this goes on without a better explanation than simply they are "processing the draw" and have "18,000 additional applications" the more people are going to be concerned.

I'm not sure how pointing out that what has happened in years past (like hitting cards the day after the deadline to update cards) vs. what is happening this year (not hitting cards the day after the deadline to update cards) makes one a liberal.

Yes I understand that. Not claiming AZGFD has violating the regs. Only pointing out the fact that they have hit cards the day after the deadline to update cards and it is quite obvious they are delayed in that standard process this year.

If they wait two weeks from the deadline to update credit card info until they hit cards then that is a major departure from the past practices of AZGFD. The email sent Friday said that they are underway in processing the applications. Usually they draw the day after the deadline to update cards. That's all I'm saying.

If they start hitting cards soon (like today or tomorrow), then maybe it is true that the 18,000 new applications was a reason for the delay in conducting the draw. But the longer it takes for them to hit cards since the deadline to update cards, the more likely it is that there are larger underlying issues with this draw.

I agree. If the delay in conducting the draw (as compared to past years being directly related to the credit card update deadline) is to make sure they get it right then I'm 100% okay with it. But I don't think the extra 18,000 applications is a legitimate reason for the delay in conducting the draw. If they told people they were delayed in conducting the draw because they wanted to ensure the legitimacy of the process then people would lose their shoot more than they already are.

See my post below. It's not a delay in mailing the tags (at this point no one gives AF about mailing the tags). It's clearly a delay in AZGFD conducting the draw. And hey, maybe this is the new normal. Maybe the days of updating the cards being a signifier of when they conduct the draw is no longer a thing. But it has been a thing for many years and it was clearly not a thing this year.
