Just wondering if the elk were still bugling in unit 27? Wanted to take a trip up the trail this evening!
-
OK...I never usually post and the time I do, autocorrect gets the best of me. FML🤣
-
I guess I'm late to the party...lol! I didn't see what was autocorrected. Somebody help me out here! Must have been pretty bad🤦‍♂️ I really just wanted to know if the elk were still vocal near Alpine.

Would this fit a pre 64 30-06?

Oil City is a long way from the Mexican boarder! I grew up in Warren and all my family still lives there to this day. Oil City and Pleasantville were just down the road. That's a long road trip for a stink pig.

Dove Breast Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers
massamino replied to rossislider's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Look up the dove breast "Atomic Buffalo Turd" recipe on Youtube. They taste great and people will eat them as fast as you can get them off the grill. -
What did you use to store the meat after field processing? How long did it take to quarter up/cape and how many guys helped out? Are you getting any shoulder mount or rug done?

That's some good work!

The quilts have a adjustable foot box and straps for your pad so it doesn't slide around. The sides tuck under you which cut down draft. Go visit Rokslide and research quilts. Most hardcore backpack hunters have gone to quilts to save weight.

Congrats on the buff! That is some persistence and I'm glad you were rewarded. I will be heading up in a few weeks for the summer hunt. Sound like its going to be a tough one.

Check out the Enlightened Equipment quilts. I have the Revolution 30 and it weighs under a pound. This thing compresses down smaller than a football. Run it with a good thermal pad and your good to go and can save at least a pound in your pack. They offer garage sale items that will save you some coin because they are pricey.

I picked up a Barney's freighter pack last year. The thing is bomb proof and they have been the go-to pack for guides in Alaska for years. It has the Pinnacle Kevlar bag that you can carry a small house inside. Only downside is the starting weight is 7 lbs with the meat shelf and top bar removed. Very comfortable and a work horse.

Just awesome! Best hunt to get the kiddos hooked on hunting. I wish they would have had this growing up in PA.

I think my 5A general antlerless leftover tag (3810) is in late October. From what I gather so far, this is more than likely limited to the East/West Sunset area. Does any have any experience with this area and a idea of elk numbers at that time of the season? I assume the numbers are low since it is a limited opportunity hunt.

Found out I drew a 5A Hopi antlerless tag! Does anyone have any past experiences with this hunt? Any elk tag is worth it, but I know this is going to be a tough one to fill. I'm just happy I'll be hunting elk and buffalo in the same year

Does AZ Game and Fish cash the money orders for leftover applications when not drawn? If not, what is the process of getting your money back from an uncashed money order?
-
Does anyone know when this will come into play if passed? I have a tag for July 3rd but I doubt that will influence my hunt. Too bad, that would be awesome if they were open game on the National Park.

My 2015 Unit 10 Speed Goat * Updated w/ Pics and Story

You deserve all of the great fortune. You have helped out many on this site and it's good to see it come back to you in return. Good luck with everything! -
Do you have any more info on the new pan head? I don't see the new version listed on the Outdoorsmans site. Price?

Down here, in the southeastern part of the state, rutting is not far from full swing. Saturday and Sunday I watched two different herds being claimed by mature bucks that chased of inferior competition. The females seem to be a few days off from being ready but it is happening earlier than I can remember. Usually, at this time, the smaller bucks are trying to group them up but this was not the case.

3 for 3 My daughter and I both put in for 27 turkey and archery javelina. I put in for a summer(July 3rd) limited opportunity House Rock buff hunt(cow) with four points. $750 dollars on my CC and it's off to the races. I have never even been to the Kaibab or seen the the Grand Canyon! I should have played the lottery this week! Holy Smokes!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked my CC on Wednesday. A $650 charge! I only put in for the first two Buff hunts during the summer at House Rock since I am a teacher and I would have the entire hunt available. I am very blessed to draw this tag but I know it will be one of the tougher hunts I've been on. So far, it's looking like I will have to do it solo since it is an 8+ hour trip from my home in Safford,AZ. I will resort to begging some of my hunting buddies and promise to fill their freezers if we are lucky enough to tag out. No matter the challenge, I am going to make the best of this once in a lifetime. I have never seen the Grand Canyon let alone hunt the fabled Kaibab. It sounds like a majority of the buffs have migrated to the national park and it has resulted in very low hunter success. I am hoping that they move out of the park in the summer to begin preparation for breeding. This is a plea to all CWT members:If anyone has any experience with the summer limited opportunity buffalo hunt out of House Rock please P.M. me and I would appreciate any info. I could benefit from any information about affordable lodging, glassing positions for herd location in the hottest parts of the summer, migration patterns, processing tips, etc. I would love to hire a guide but again I am a public school teacher and just don't have the funds. The cost of the hunt alone will stretch my families budget but luckily I have a wife that is more than understanding regarding my passion of hunting and the outdoors. I will allow myself the entire two weeks if necessary be successful at filling my tag. If anyone else draws this tag and needs a partner feel free to P.M. me and we could team up. This sounds like a hunt that requires a group effort and solo would be a daunting task with a good change for meat loss which to me would be inexcusable.

Not sure where you are located but I have a factory Weatherby vanguard trigger that I pulled from my 7mm mag you can have for free. I live in Safford and just would take a little bit to find it in the house. It's in new condition since I removed it right after purchase. you can email me at dmassa@saffordusd.com

190" coues killed in southern AZ?!?!?
massamino replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Blow this up at about 250% and you can see stitching(or what looks like stitching) around the base of the antler.
