I'm in the same boat as elkaholic. I would love to but can't. A couple years ago when real estate was going good I would have jumped all over this.

I love all the pics and your story. The N Kaibab is my favorite place in AZ so all the pics are great, and its fun seeing scenery I recognize and have been in.

I lost my Swarovski rangefinder in unit 10 elk hunting this year. Got excited ranging a bull and didn't pick it up. I know within a 1/4 mile where it is, right beside a juniper tree but we have looked and I can't find it. Maybe I'll get lucky like you did and find it some day.

Great pictures!! I started taking my daughter out when she was very young. She wasn't real anxious to hunt when she got a little older. I just kept telling her to let me know when she wanted to go. Now she is 22 and loves to hunt. She has shot 2 elk and 2 deer. If you make it fun for her you will have a hunting buddy for life!

Nice deer. It's more than luck to get 2 for 2 on coues. My daughter and I have 27/28 tags in Dec maybe we'll see you there. Jim

I grew up in eastern washington and hunted mulies in the Blue Mt and Snake River country. It is open country wheat fields and canyons. In the late 80's g&f put a 3 point or better restriction on deer hunting. Not too many people were happy about that but in a couple years we started seeing way more bucks. I think the restriction is still on. I know for myself I didn't like it at first but now it is great to hunt there and see lots of bucks and not just does. At the same time in the same area g&f has a spike only restriction on elk hunting with limited branch antler permits. I never did understand why we could only shoot the little ones of 1 species and the big 1 of another species. I don't know how restrictions work with coues but I know it;s funner to hunt when you can see bucks and not does only. Jim

you are right and that is why I usually just hunted chukars in WA. I love the solitude of coues hunting,especially archery. There's nothing like hiking in a ways and glassing all day and just seeing countryside and deer.
