What weird stuff have you glassed or happen well glassing for game?
Apatkelley replied to seek100plus's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Years ago, we were in the Southern part of 30A glassing in a very remote area. We were looking into a deep canyon when we heard what we thought must have been a truck. I said to my friend, there can't be a truck down there. About that time, I saw a huge swarm of bees heading right for us. They were on top of us before we could do anything. Thank goodness they just flew right over and on up the canyon. In a different part of 30A, my brother and I found a skull that we couldn't identify. It almost looked like a small human skull. When I got back home, I went online and tried to find what kind of animal it could have been but no luck. Part of the problem was the the face part was missing, maybe chewed off?? I ended up taking it to game and fish to see if they could figure out what it was....never heard back from them. Once in unit 22 while we were archery hunting deer, we got back to the truck and there were several horses around the truck. One had its head in the window and had been chewing on our left over fast food breakfast. I also have seen a doe run a coyote all around a mesa. She was going to stomp him into the ground. -
I see em!! Cool picture, looks like thick cover.

Good luck, access to public land is a real problem in the area. There is some great country if you can get permission from landowners. G&F isn't kidding when they warn you about access in this unit

Sign me up for one like that! Cool buck.

left over tags draw? when do we know results?
Apatkelley replied to vegasjeep's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If I remember right, you can call the office and find out if you got a left over tag. They issue them as they process the applications. Good luck!! -
That's what I was trying to say.....It just didn't come out nearly as clear.
-
It means that when they processed your application, all the tags in your first choice were gone, so they looked at your second choice and there were still tags so thats the tag you got. The late hunts with so few tags are much harder to draw. I would bet that you didn't miss it by far seeing that you and your partner drew tags 12 and 13 of your 2nd choice.

I would have to say that those are true vintage pictures. That's a cool looking buck, nice and high.

Hey John I have a Magellan Meridian Marine that I don't use much. It's a great unit, look it up and see if it's something you might be interested in. Your welcome to come get it, try it out and if your interested maybe we can trade. I have some extras that go with it. Aaron

One of the best things you can do is contact the Game and Fish department and sign up to take the hunter safety instructor course. I did about two years ago and have been able to teach a few classes and it has been a great experience. I have a very busy schedule that prevents me from being able to teach the traditional class, so I have focused on the online course and field day. I have to agree that the traditional class is better for the kids, but when time shcedule or other factors make it impossible, the online course and field day is an option that didn't exist just a few years ago. The online course isn't easy and some younger kids can struggle with the amount of reading required, but with hard work most kids can make it through. Contact Dave Williams at the AZGFD and get certified to teach the class and help provide more opportunity in your community for hunter education.

I would love to see a Gila Monster golf, I didn't think they could get thier little hands around the club

Went out late this morning and saw these does at a tank. My wife went to Phoenix and took our camera, so I held my cell phone up to my spotting scope. I sat for about an hour and a half and had several groups come in. I hope to get some pics of some bucks soon.

I have to agree with Amanda. I have to ask, how many pictures did you take (try) to get 2 you could post I played that game with my Digital camera and finally broke down and bought a camera adapter for my spotting scope. Great investment I know, I know... I need to break down and get one. I'm not sure what to buy and how they work. I use a Nikon Fieldscope 3 with ED glass. I don't understand how they would work with my small digital camera because when I zoom the lense moves in and out. It also does this when I turn the camera on or off. What do you use?

I glassed three bucks together this morning in 34A. All of them with horns, one very nice buck. last year I saw several bucks with horns in early May.
-
Glassed up 4 in the last couple of years. In Feb of 2007 got lucky and glassed one and then stalked and shot it.

Verizon worked for me, lots of busy signals and then eventually got thru right at midnight.

No archery Bull for me this year. 10 bonus points now. Congrats to those lucky enough to get tags

When I see that kind of mess it makes my blood boil. I wish there was a way to make those who made the mess work to clean it up. It would be nice if BP could haul everyone they catch to some of these problem spots and require them to clean up for a few hours before they are sent back home.
